Dear friends,
Thank you so much for ALL of your fabulous wishes and comments about ME and my Baby Bump! I do feel wonderful and your kind words are greatly appreciated.
It was so meaningful yesterday afternoon to read Laura Sanchez’ Face Book post stating “everyone should feel that their bodies are beautiful and that they have purpose and strength!” Speaking for myself, I agree! I do feel I have a very positive self-concept. I believe this stems not only from my own personal feelings, but from the people around ME each day and the manner in which they lovingly care and interact with ME.
In life, it seems like certain sayings last the test of time for a reason…they prove to hold great meaning and truth. Based upon my life’s experiences and the people I have been blessed to be around, 2 sayings are particularly special:
1) “IT IS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, BUT HOW YOU SAY IT THAT IS IMPORTANT”
and
2) “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.”
In my life I have been SO FORTUNATE to live and work in very positive and nurturing environments: Winter Quarter Farm, Mayberry Training Center, Barn 55, and now at Lane’s End. The people I have been able to work with have always been there for ME. They were never negative…but always very encouraging, constructive in thought, and caring. Their actions and words were positive and supportive. I know the goal was always the same no matter what the job or task at hand…to help ME achieve SUCCESS!
I will ADORE and APPRECIATE all of these people forever!
In reading so many of your comments in the Diary postings, these sayings appear to take on a special meaning for many of you as well. YOU ARE ALL SO SUPPORTIVE, POSITIVE, CARING, AND GENUINELY ENDEARING IN YOUR RESPONSES. Additionally, it seems like so many of you are bonding, making friendships, and exchanging ideas involving so many other concepts with each other. A number of you are even trying to get together so you can meet! This is all TOO CUTE and truly very special!
I sincerely hope in some way I have played a very positive role in encouraging these friendships to develop!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenny, you are an inspiration to all of us, especially those, like me, that are fortunate enough to have a Thoroughbred “off the track”. You let us all know how special you truly are. Your belly is beautiful. Can’t wait to see what a great Mom you’re going to be. Thank you for bringing us all along your journey. Love & Hugs from JP & Me..XO

1) “IT IS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, BUT HOW YOU SAY IT THAT IS IMPORTANT”
And
2) “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.”
Zeny, the above is so true. And regarding actions this comes to mind “If you can’t be a good example, then you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.” (Catherine Aird)

While we are excitedly waiting for Z-baby, here is video to enjoy.
The first foal born at Taylor Made Farm in 2012 was a beautiful bay colt by leading sire CANDY RIDE (ARG) out of NAVIGATOR, a stakes-winning Stormy Atlantic mare.
This is her first foal. The colt was born at 2:05am on January 16th, 2012.
He is owned by Samantha Siegel’s Jay Em Ess Stable

thank you for the link. He is adorable and I love his upside down triangle on his head. Loved how attentive Navigator is. Good Momma! Too Cute!!

Don’t forget all…this lovely new foal is Tasty’s baby’s 1/2 sibling…both sired by Candy Ride!

Keta,
Thank you! That was so precious. I just pray that we get a similar high quality video of Z and her foal….up close shots of her and little Z romping in the pasture…..not little specks seen only in the distance. That was truly beautifully captured.

Lovely!

Keta – What a beautiful baby! Thank you for the link. For those planning on a trip to Kentucky, Taylor Made is one of the farms which now will let you see some of the mares and foals as part of the tour when you visit. Just be sure to request it when you call for an appointment.

Keta, thanks for sharing the beautiful video of the Candy Ride colt and His mommy. Watching it you can almost feel her love for her new little one. She looks so proud and protective of him, as if showing him off to the camera. And the shot of the little guy napping and her giving him a little nudge, making sure he is ok. I think all Moms at one time or another slighly poked of nudged their newborn…just to make sure he/she was ok. She looks like a wonderful new Mom. I am sure Our Zenny will be the same. Can’t wait to see her with her baby beside her.

Oh, that is so cool! Thanks for sharing the link. My best wishes to such a sweet little colt!

I’m still suggesting the name, “A Simple Gift” for your baby!!! When do you think we will hear the name of Rachel Alexandra’s colt?

Z, It’s just like Winston Churchill said “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” I believe I can speak for most of your fans, you are truly one of a kind, inside and out, and we all love you and want to a part of your life for as long as you will have us. Love you always!

Beth: One of my favourite quotes!!!!
Cheryl Y
Well said Beth, the saying by Winston Churchill means so much to me. Almost 12 years ago,my youngest daughter lost her 16 year old son Jeffrey, who was also my 1st Grandchild ! It was sudden and not expected,we were devastated and it changed our lives totally. To make matters worse it happened on my oldest daughters birthday. The thing that helped us get through this was the horses on the farm where we worked. They are such sensitive, intelligent beings, they felt our pain and made us laugh,or if we were having a bad day and the tears escaped while we were in a stall, they would nuzzle us or give us a horsey hug, they were amazing and without the ouside of those horses reaching into the inside of us,I don’t think we would have made it !!! God Bless you Zen and thank you for being there for all of us Fans !!
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
Dear Cheryl – I am so sorry that you and your family experienced such a tragic loss. Your story of the healing power of horses is beautiful!! I can remember as a young girl sometimes burying my face into the neck of my Cinder and crying my heart out. There was something about her soft brown fathomless eyes, deep warm breath, quiet strength and large solid presence that soothed my soul. I am so glad that those horses were there for you in your time of need. Bless you!
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Thank you, Cheryl, for your amazing story of the compassion of the horses at your time of heatbreak.
Deborah Richman
Cheryl and Dawn, thank you for sharing the beautiful stories of the horses who helped you in times of deep sorrow. I have always had cats, and have dried many a tear in their fur. My sweet cat, Theo used to find me and put his paw on my arm when I was in need of comfort.
Stephanie in San Diego
Cheryl..thank you for telling us your story. My heart broke and the tears just flowed, it made me remember just how much my horse, Royal did for me when my Dad died. It was her neck I cried on, her back I would take off on when I just needed to get a way, She was the reason to get up…to go out in the morning and feed, come home from school and groom, clean her stall, exercise ,,,,
She did more to help me get back to some type of normal in my young life then anyone else could have.
Leslie
Queen Z…You have been a source of inspiration for so many…I don’t even know if you can comprehend the amount of love that you have given us all. Thank you so much for gracing our lives…wishing you all the best and I can’t wait for your baby foal !!

Zenyatta,
What a nice post today. It’s true, if not for your site, I would not have met my very good and special friend here in Houston. We share many things in common and enjoy going out together. Especially to the race track. We have a ball. Your
baby bump has dropped. Getting ready. ;);) Take care of you and Tasty. xoxo.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Let’s hope she’s not TOO ready. Foal won’t be 320 days old until Feb. 16. FWIW, I don’t think Baby Bump has dropped so much as just gotten big. From recent pictures it looks like she sticks out quite a bit at the sides.
Jan S. / Houston
Thanks Laura. Did not know this. :)
signofthetimes
Foal is moving and changing positions.
Not ready to be born, would not move that
Much and change her shape. When ready
For delivery they stay in one position as the
Mother’s hormones tell the foal it is time for delivery.
Number of days is just that. Fetal position and
Other body changes tell the story, that is the
Reason for Foal watch, not count the days.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
I mentioned “320 days” because that is when the foal is considered term. I don’t think Jan was aware of that. It would be bad if Zenyatta delivered before then. But we both seem to agree that that’s unlikely to happen.

JAG, Are there horses in heaven? Have you seen this?
The Horses in Heaven Story (Terry Fator):
A few ago I had just finished a show when a lady came up to me and asked me if she could tell me a story. I agreed and we sat down. She proceeded to tell me a story about a friend of hers. She said that her friend had a son who was best friends with a little boy and their favorite toys were these little plastic horses. They would play for hours on end, galloping all over the house, simply obsessed with those little horses. The little boy’s friend got sick and they took him to the hospital. He was told he had cancer, so they started the treatments. As the little boy got sicker and sicker the mother would overhear the two boys talking about his illness and the sick child would ask his friend, “Do you think there are horses in heaven?” They would debate about it and could not come to any conclusions, but they would say that they certainly hoped so.
In time the boy with cancer passed away, and the mother of the other boy just didn’t know how to break the news to her son.
She finally got up all her courage and called her son into the room. He sat down and she said,
“Honey, I’m so sorry to have to tell you this, but your friend didn’t make it. He died a couple of days ago.”
Her son smiled at her. “I know mom! He already came and told me! And there ARE horses in heaven! “
After the lady told me that story I felt chills up and down my spine, and I had to fight the tears off. The lady then asked me if she thought I could write a song about the story. I told her I would try and I did.
I worked for several months but couldn’t even come up with an idea. Then one morning I woke up at around 3AM and I was dreaming the song. The whole thing! I actually dreamed it. I woke up and went to my computer and started writing, and I literally wept the entire time. It only took me a few minutes to write it, and since it was a gift to me I have decided that all the money the song makes is going to be donated to St. Jude’s Hospital.
I hope you like the song…

Zoe-After the excitement of the arrival of Zenyatta’s foal dies down, we all hope you will remain a horse racing fan. Racing needs all of the young followers it can get.

That’s ASSUMING the excitement dies down. lol

Well put. I somewhat misspoke.

Terry my students see, hear and know all about horse racing everyday. I am so in love with the sport it just flows right into my teaching. We all will be working on a project and if the paper is blue it is the color of Zenyatta’s racing silks. If it is orange it is GO MO Go. We play social studies games and the team names are Secretariat, Zenyatta, Uncle Mo, Mistletoe etc. They love it and it keeps their interest. We have fun and learn too. Plus my horses are great role models. They work hard and do their homework. They don’t let the children down. It is not always about winning but trying. We love our horses in Homeroom 215 :)

Ms. Voltz-I’m sorry, but I can’t get used to calling a teacher by her first name-If more teachers were like you this world would be a much better place. Bless you for all you do. Your kids are very lucky. I hope they know it now, but if they don’t they will.

This is the year of the WATER dragon, not the regular dragon. Happens once every 60 yeas. So it’s more special than we think if we are to go along with the Chinese horoscope. I am a rabbit–what are you?

Dragon Career
“First, the Dragon is a karmic sign, which means you’re going to have more than your share of high highs and low lows. Not only that, but if you’re a typical Dragon, you enjoy taking risks. Dashing and daring is fine, but you know you can’t sink every long shot. Don’t get carried away or overconfident … but do have a good year. After all, you own it!”
