Happy Friday!
Another week! Wow, the time truly passes by so quickly. Thus, we often get so caught up in our various daily activities that we forget to say THANK YOU to those people around us…..who care so much and work so hard to make our lives special!
Today, I’d like to take the time to do so! MY JOHN and Dottie receive lovely notes all of the time from so many of you. They asked that I personally THANK YOU for them. The time you take to write them…and the words expressed so graciously do mean a great deal to them and all of MY TEAM. YOU ARE SO KIND!
Last Saturday, Victoria Racimo was visiting Los Angeles from her home in New York. Steve Haskin (who you all know as he writes for The Bloodhorse) emailed John asking if she could visit BARN 55. Victoria had been at Keeneland the evening I arrived in Lexington and stood in the 17 degree weather for hours to see ME. She commented to John that she “still remembers rubbing ME that evening and feeling the warmth of my body”.
Victoria has a friend, James, who is 10 years old and receiving chemo treatments for a rare form of Leukemia. His parents work in a Feed Shop in Paris, Kentucky, and are very involved working with and following horses in our industry.
Per Victoria, “James has followed and adored Zenyatta from when she first started to make her mark. He is only 10 years old now.”
There are so many wonderful moments to Victoria’s visit to BARN 55 and her follow-up note to John. One very special and touching part was hearing about James and being able to visit with him. MY JOHN called him. At that very moment when MY JOHN called, he was in the hospital receiving treatment. Per Victoria, “James has been over the moon since that day.”
MY JOHN also gave Victoria MY DODGER BILLBOARD for him, the one he had standing on his desk. It is on his way to James right now. Victoria commented, “it took me a while to package and wrap so her ears would be safe.” (Thank you, Victoria! I appreciate that!)
In her note, Victoria went on to state, “I want to let you know how meaningful your good works are to so many. You, Dottie, and the Z Team continue to be a life force carrying on Zenyatta’s magic—the magic that has made the difference in thousands upon thousands of lives. I thank you for the kindness of that day. You are blessed to have met Zenyatta and she you and in the rest of the scheme of things, we are all winners because of your presence and grace in this world.”
To Victoria and All of YOU….WE WANT TO SAY….. THANK YOU! The true beauty of all of these experiences is we have all met each other and been able to share in so many special moments and friendships! THANK YOU for your kindness and the difference YOU have all made in our lives as well.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(A special HUG this morning for you, James!)

Dear Ms. Voltz,
The above links would be very very interesting for your students as they
learn about the physical issues, care issues and psychological issues
that mares face when foaling.
It is a wonderful thing to be a medical professional and be able to see how
animals and humans alike go through their various processes and be able
to aid them and help them change and grow during their processes.
Hope your children enjoy. !!!!

Dear Judy B,
Thanks so very much for clearing up my confusion.
I really love the link you posted about Machivallian.
It is always confusing when the horse is foaled somewhere
and then moved to another part of the world and becomes
famous there.
Reread Street Cry’s Dam side and all Euro, which I missed.
Thanks for posting this link to help those of us on this
site learn more about horses and racing and appreciate
these wonderful creatures of god.
Hugs

Thank you, Especially Horses. Mio Ragazzo is very pumped up for a newborn about following in his Mama’s and Daddie’s hoove steps. I have been telling him about Gio Ponti racing with his Mama, the Queen, and Goldikova. Needless to say, he was quite excited and began bucking around the room. He wants John to train him, I told him that I thought it could be worked out. Lisag

Ms Zentatta, Congratulations to Lady Black Caviar. 18! She is a beauty, I admire her, but do I want her to tie with YOU and Peppers’s Pride? I will have to look deep inside myself to answer that. We humans can be selfish at times. Know that I love you, and miss you sooooo much. Waiting for the next post. Lisag

I decided to post some comments separate from my usual type because I was not on the site yesterday and direct replies might be missed. @Vicki B-Thanks for all of the info and links on Brace Beemer. When Gunsmoke was being cast for TV, one of the first actors considered was William Conrad, who was the voice of Matt Dillon on radio. He was considered to be too short for the part. He was always bitter about being rejected. He didn’t get to Cannon proportions until much later. Great redneck relative joke. 63 and 65 WERE great years for the Dodgers. 1959 is my favorite because the team had been so bad in 1958, the first LA year, finishing seventh in the NL. There were only eight teams in each league in those days. The 1959 season found them tying with the Milwaukee Braves and they won the pennant in a playoff. They then beat the White Sox in the world series. @Judy Berube-So glad you and Russ are enjoying the jokes. @Cynthia H-I am very impressed that you know where the line from The Maltese Falcon comes from.

Probably because I am so old I was around at the time, Terry!

Dear Zenyatta Family Thank you for your support. We are playing a social studies game now and the team names are Zenyatta, Mistletoe, Uncle Mo and Hansen. These children love the horses and know who does what. I am so glad we have our Queen to now teach the children about foals. I did show the children Rachael’s foal. They really enjoyed that video. They love Kari’s video so much. Thank you again. We have so many wonderful people on this site. Oh Zenyatta’s Team Won !!!
As for my last year’s class. They don’t all have computers and they are downstairs. They do ask me about Zenyatta and Uncle Mo : )

Shari Voltz, wish I had a teacher like you when I was growing up! Had no one to share my love of horses with but a few friends. When my daughter was in grade school we were requested to come up to school and talk about a problem. My mind went crazy all day at work thinking “what did she do, or what did she get involved in?”
The teacher proceeded to tell us that every time the kids were required to write an essay or story, all my daughter wrote about was HORSES! I said, “and your problem with that is…….?” He said she was becoming very “ONE DEMENSIONAL.” I responded that I thought it was much better than becoming involved in drugs, or getting in other kinds of trouble. Needless to say he had no comment. She has grow up to be a lovely caring person and works in a hospital as a CNA, who still loves horses!
Just wanted you to know I think your students are very lucky to have you. Hugs

To Cynthia H./Santa Anita Gal — So beautifully written — my heart is still pounding! Please write me on FB. Your adventure is another flower in the magnificent arboretum of Zenyatta.

Victoria, Thank you so much. I just love your comment. What a beautiful turn of phrase! I am not sure which Victoria you might be on Facebook, as there are a couple connected to Zenyatta . Are you Victoria S.?

Wow!!! how inspiring!! Zenny, you’re going to have so many stories to tell your baby!!! How magical!

Zenyatta, it was very nice of that Bloodhorse reporter to ask John if he would allow that woman as well as 10 year old James to get in and see you. You say Victoria is her name. She is really dedicated to seeing you if she was willing to stand for a long time in 10 degree weather in order to do it. I would do the same thing myself if I were given the chance. What a coincidence it was that she was visiting Keeneland the very same day that you arrived at Lane’s End Farm from Santa Anita. I hope James is doing all right in the hospital and that he eventually overcomes his cancer. He has his whole life ahead of him. I hope that Victoria enjoys her stay in California.

Personally I tkink that the computer and the Internet are the relioutovn of the past twenty years .I am in my 89th year and today I have purchased a new, and all in one touch screen computer without towers or numerous other commodities..It’s wonderful to be in contact with friends and family from all over the world. Also it keeps that little box on top of your shoulder in good working order..I lift my glass to these clever people who brought this to us. Keep up the good work..Frank..
