Z's Diary

Diary Post #454

Dear, dear, dear friends,

I am so proud and elated to share the news with you that I am now a MOM. I just gave birth to a lovely dark bay COLT, March 8th, at approximately 10:10 p.m. Eastern Time.

My adorable foal weighed in at 130 pounds, has a white star on his forehead….and some white on his feet. As Ann commented when she saw him, “he has polka dots on his feet, Zennie, just like YOU.”

All went very well with the foaling. I must say….I did it like a CHAMP!

My foal is absolutely precious…and I am so pleased to share this entire experience with all of you…my precious and loving friends.

We are all still just getting acclimated to this entire new experience. I’m doing great. MY BABY is doing great….and Bernie is also excited! I’ll update you again with some more photos in the morning.

All blessings to each of YOU….and THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART….for being there for ME and SHARING THIS WONDERFUL PART OF MY LIFE WITH ME!

With Love,
Hugs to All~(Can you believe it…..I’m now a MOM!)

Congratulations! momma Zenny. I hope you’re doing great. Take care.

Since Zenyatta got her name from The Police album, I would suggest “Demolition Man” or “Walking in Your Footsteps”. Walking in Your Footsteps is quite long but it can be shortened to; “Walkin Ur Footsteps”. Both has a strong impact.

As I drove home from work late Thurs. night I started thinking ” I bet Zenyatta had her baby today ” And I was right but most importantly all went well. What a great gift we have all been given in the majestic horse!

What a beautiful picture of the two of them laying there in the straw lookin at each other!! Thank you for posting them.
You know, isn’t it amazing how even in animals you can see both the Dad and the Mom?? I can for sure see the Queen in the foal, but I also see Bernardini in him as well. People are not the only ones that can pass the look of both parents. I think the color of the little Prince will be more of what they call a “seal” dark bay, since Zen is dark and Bernie is dark, tracing back his roots to the great Seattle Slew, who we all know was dark, dark bay but not black.

I hope they give her some time to enjoy thisi first baby and not breed her right away again.
I was thinking about if they ever do breed her again, how bout to lookalike 2 time Breeders Cup Champion Tiznow. Just a thought. I have a personal photo taken of him and he has the gorgeous dapples and the similiar lightning bolt pattern on his face. Plus he is an incredible
I heard through the horsie grapevine that alot of folks were hoping for a filly for Zenyatta since Rachael A had a colt, and a lookalike colt, only more by cause of Curlin. They even have the same kind of white star. There will be a competition sooner or later and we all know it.

I’m sure John and Ann already have a “cool” but spectacular name for this foal. It’s gotta be a one word name (and NOT Zendini=please that colt is far better than that!!!)

Congratulations to all involved, to you all fellow Zenyatta fans, and like you I hope we get more photos soon. Watch how fast the Prince will grow out in the next couple days. Their little bones do not have to be small and soft to come out into the world. It’s a great date, my filly was born on same day!
    Congrats to everyone!!!!

sorry, so excited that I need to fix my post above! First, I meant to say Tiznow is a gorgeous horse himself.

And as far as Rachel’s colt, I meant to put in there they look similar only her colt is a light/red bay since Curlin is a Chestnut.

Lastly, how could I mess this up: the baby will be filled out in a few days because the little bones they have have to mesh together to make it through the birthing safely. Its amazing how he will look in a couple days, even a week.
Sorry about all the mistakes, Z Queen friends, I just got myself way too over excited!
    Thanks

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, you and your colt are picture perfect! What a blessing for a long a waited event of pure joy and happiness! Many answered prayers for your health and your beautiful boy. He sure is handsome with his Mom’s features of ears and legs. Enjoy this time together because it will pass so fast! Thanks to Ann & Jerry for posting these wonderful photos and sharing you & baby with us. Zenyatta, you are as beautiful today as the first day I saw you. I love you Zenyatta and always will. To see you become a Mom is a special blessing. Take care of yourself and I know you will take care of baby ZB! Sending love from Alabama with hugs & kisses, Amanda Gilliland

    CONGRATULATIONS ZENYATTA!!!

I’m thrilled to hear this news! Your colt looks adorable and I think he has your ears! So glad he arrived safe and sound. A hug to all your team and your owners too – they must be ticked pink!

Warm thoughts going out to all of you that you both do well!

    Jenn

p.s. – just my two cents here, but he is an original and I think deserves his own name rather than any combinations of yours and Bernardini’s names…no offense meant but some I’ve seen just sound like circus performers! lol! WTG Zenyatta!

Zenyatta, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BIRTH OF YOUR FOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is an absolutely beautiful picture of you and him. He is really cute. I would hug him and kiss him all over if I were there. I might never get away from him or from you for that matter. Your big day finally came. All the patience and perseverance paid off handsomely. I am hoping to see some videos of you and him. Has Tasty’s foal been born yet? I hope to hear about that.

Zenyatta looks like she is very much enjoying motherhood!! I’ve only bred a couple foals, and it was a LONG time ago, the nerves just about did me in. But seeing that baby and mom together, it’s genuine love. People who say animals don’t “love” have NEVER seen a mare and foal.

He is gorgeous. He has a very bright future ahead of him!! I bet he does a great job of following in Mom’s footsteps!!

Congratulations again, Zenyatta, on the birth of your beautiful son, who looks so very much like you! Even your ears are the same! He looks very curious and interested in his new world, and intent upon exploring it! You’ll have to keep up with him….what fun you two will have together! You are both magnificent- it runs in the family! Take plenty of pictures to share with us….and don’t forget how much we love you. Jean.
