Happy Tuesday,
This is too cute! Last night, Dottie, John, Ann and Jerry all met for dinner. They were discussing my ‘future exciting dating plans’ and the ZENYATTA SCULPTURE that was done by Nina Kaiser. The prototype of the piece is photographed above with Stella and Violet. It looks like Stella is commenting to Violet how much she loves it. I DO TOO!
Nina Kaiser is a very talented sculptor. She does beautiful work! Recently, she did the JOHN HENRY life-size statue that is at Santa Anita Park. While I was at BARN 55, Nina would set up appointments with John and Dottie to come out and STUDY ME! She spent hours upon hours at the barn just observing me while I was training and out grazing. Nina actually measured every single part of my body and then took detailed photos of ALL of me! She wanted to be sure she could reproduce MY IMAGE in PERFECT SCALE! We spent a great deal of time together. This way, Nina felt she really KNEW ME and had a feel for how my body parts all flowed together when I moved. I also found it very interesting to note the keen observations of ‘an artist at work’ while she was with me!
It looks like she GOT IT RIGHT! My TEAM absolutely loved her image of me…and I’M DANCING!! How fabulous is this! YEAH, NINA!
As for my dating plans, I think this news will be released very soon. My TEAM reviewed all of the details with me this morning…and I’M SO EXCITED! I will keep you posted!
With love,
HUGS to ALL~

Good evening Zenyatta,
wow check out those beautiful dogs, and you of course, too. Except hard to really see you, but it’s unmistakably the ‘Zee Strut’, you’re lookin’ good!!
Are your friends Standard Poodles? With black nail polish to boot?
I know a swell blk Standard Poodle “Beau” short for Beauregard, he is so much fun, suffers from epilepsy every now & then, mild case though. They are really nice dogs:) Of course, I never met a dog I didn’t like :) Mud in your eye pretty soon, huh? Well, good luck girl, don’t take no guff, one kick from you should crack it good!!! Always remember that.
Sweet dreams of all your favorites:))

We think a “Giant of the Causeway” should be under consideration. We hope your gang of many will consider that tall dark and handsome stallion. He’s soooo cute and has proven himself to be soooo effective. We will love you and yours no matter who the “chosen one” is. Phyllis and George

Ooooh Z! I’m so excited for you!!!

Nina’s sculpture is EXACTLY how I pictured a statue of you. Now we have to find a way to get a LIFE SIZE one made and pick out a spot for it at Santa Anita. John Henry is by the fountain … Seabiscuit is in the walking ring … where should the dancing queen go? :)
Terry McNamee
Of course you are dancing! If this small sculpture is ever issued as a resin (or Breyer!) I want one! It looks exactly like you. Beautiful!
Lynne
Hi Zenyatta. I am also so exited to know who your first date will be with. Oh, and that sculpture of you. Just beautiful. Are there going to be others available for sale?
xxxxoooo
Yvonne and Maurice Kirby
Hi Zenyatta. Oh my, will Nina be doing this sculpture of you to be next to John Henry at Santa Anita. We visited to see his statue – it is so awesome. Your statue with you dancing is just majestic. We will definitely come out for the unveiling!!! The doggies are gorgeous. Wow, I am thrilled you are happy with the decision for your first date. Can’t wait to find out who the lucky stalion is. He will take one look at you and immediately fall in love, like we all have done. Love to you always, you angel in disguise.

In one of the previous posts, I remember you said that John visited an old friend @ Lanes End… “After Market”…could he be the one they are considering…great pedigree (Storm Cat/Tranquiity Lake, Rahy, Secretariat, Danzig, Northern Dancer) a lot of Royal blood there!

Hi Zenny: Thank you for introducing the other members of the Moss family. Stella and Violet are beautiful. Are they best friends with Sophie? Your statue is absolutely stunning. It is so elegant just like you. It appears orders are being taken. How do we place an order? Also I am very excited to hear about your dating plans.

This picture is great but doesnt do the sculpture justice – go to the web site (somebody near the top posted the link). It is absolutely stunning and posed perfectly. Two views shown – She really caught the essence of Queen Z!

@ The Kennedys,
.
My appologies for missing your earlier question; I don’t always re-visit after posting so do occassionally miss some replies.
.
Charles Campbell is well respected and of course, his and Steve Haskin’s concerns are legitimate. With the huge number of horses in Ky, particularly during breeding season there’s always the risk of spreading diseases. Well meaning people could easily transfer something from one farm to Lane’s End on the course of farm ‘tours’.
.
Mares are checked about 16 days after breeding to confirm pregnancy. Most will agree 90 days post breeding is a pretty safe time for most mares, the pregnancy is well established, etc. Early abortion can occur for far too many reasons to list though and I would well understand Lane’s End’s concerns, particularly with such a high profile mare.
A good general site here if you’re up for the reading:

.
Regarding the video ‘L’ posted, pretty routine stuff. Procedure is slightly different from farm to farm. At a place like LE with more staff, you’d probably find three times as many people assisting the breeding, and the stallion won’t be used to tease the mare, he’ll just enter when she’s ready. Most Ky farms will employ some type of hobble as well, where the mare in that video was not restrained outside of a shank.

I see the Moss’ have good taste in dogs

Hi Queen, Love love love that statue. How great to have something like that on your night stand. Hope we can purchase one soon.. Good luck on your date!!!

A.P.Indy is “elderly” but there is plenty of time. Curlin isn’t proven, so what’s the matter with Smart Strike? Is there something too close in his pedigree? He obviously is a producer of champions. Whichever horse it is, he’ll be in awe of the Queen! Georgeous statue Z-where will the full size one go??
Jenna
Good night, pretty lady. With the viewing of the YouTube video complete (good grief), I can now banish thoughts of the shed from my head, never to appear again :)
My girl’s a lady and that’s that.
Thank you, again, Dottie. Have a wonderful evening.
Nighty night, Z.

I highly doubt that AP Indy was born cryptorchid.
He is way too prolific of a stallion. Those with that affliction
are for the most part sterile and surgery does not have much of
an impact on that.
The surgery is performed to get the
testicle out of the abdomen to prevent tissue from
dying and causing deadly complications.

Kathryn Cogswell–
I agree with you completely. The woman filming should have limited her comments to just asking simple questions. I think her silly laugh was making the mare nervous.
Z–I know all precautions will be taken with you to make it as easy as possible. Good night, sweet girl.
Anne
Thank you for the picture and the post Zenyatta! Dear Dottie…while we await mating info on our Queen Z, would it be at all possible to get the breeding information about those GORGEOUS Standard Poodles? Just the ‘line’ or something like that? Thank you very much, either way, for all you do and all you’ve done!!
Lisa T
What a beautiful sculpture of you Zenyatta. Can’t wait to hear who your boyfriend will be….like Mike Smith said, noone is worthy of you but can’t wait to see the beautiful babies you will make. Luv you dearly! XXOOXX

P.S. Stella and Violet are beautiful dogs. :)

Good Evening Queen “Z” Just love the picture of Stella and Violet. I think some of your fans would be interested in purchasing this sculpture. Will they ever be for sale?
Can’t wait to hear of the dating plans. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of little Zennies running on the track.
Hugs and kisses

@ Nancy JS,
.
Cryptorchidism is not uncommon in horses, particularly those decending from Indy. Yes, he’s a prolific stallion but where he has one testicle that’s to be expected. A stallion would be sterile if here were a bilateral cryptorchid (both testicles undecended). Indy is a unilateral crypt in that he has one decended, the other was retained.
There’s pro & cons to removing the undecended testicle. Retained ones can have a higher incidence of testicular cancer and actually bother some horses. Removing it can cause extra swelling and some risk to the decended good one.

Zen Hi, I’m pulling so hard for A. P. Indy, I know he has some wonderful son’s also, but there’s just something about Indy, he’s got an Aura about him, can’t tell you what it is. Just something wonderful there. To Ensign you seemed to lead towards Indy this year. I so much agree I think he will be 22 this year and I’m just worried he may be pensioned out, like Storm Cat, insidentally do you know if Storm Cat is doing well. Do not hear much about him anymore. Anyway, Love ya Zen, and GO INDY……Love, Peggy

@L
Thanks for the breeding video link. It was well done and
professional by the horses. I am not clear why
folks react so negatively to twitch. Horses do not tolerate
Drugs for anesthesia very well due to their delicate physiology
A twitch is often used to relax a horse. Most commonly
seen used in a barn when a horse cilice and needs to
Have a garden hose size tube placed in his/her stomach
And a gallon mineral oil poured into the tube and into
The intestines to loosen the colon so the horse does not pass.
This procedure would be quite difficult without twitch. A twitch
Allows for quick release and return to normal quickly rather
Than risk the life of the horse to treat a life threatening condition.
NancyJS
Sorry misspelled colic, a condition in which a horse
can lose its life

I have a Nina Kaiser painting! I love it!
Can’t wait to see the sculpture, I hope they make a live one in the middle of the paddock at Del Mar so I can see it all summer long..

The statue of Zenyatta is lovely but a bit pricey for me so I’ll have to settle with my newly framed photographs of Z which I got from “The Second Race” booth at her farewell celebration at Hollywood Park.
CathyB
Absolutely perfect!!

@Ensign
I don’t believe if he only had one functioning
testicle he would be prolific for close to 17 years. Odds
are very against this. In addition, dogs who are
cryptorchid or have an undecended testicle are not able to compete in AKC conformation
championships due to fertility issues. Human males who
are cryptorchid have poor fertility in general according to
Fertility research studies.
By the way did anyone see the video of the foal
being born on that group of videos L sent. It was
very precious. The foal and mom were talking just a
few minutes after birth.

Speaking of that sculpture, is there any chance that we might ever see a reproduction of it (perhaps not in bronze or whatever material it’s made of, but more like a child’s toy) that we can purchase for our kids to play with or just as a keepsake?
