Good Afternoon, It is rather nice here in Lexington today….in the 40′s. It’s good to hear that we are supposed to have ‘nice’ weather in KY for the next several days. My CA FRIENDS mentioned that it is a bit ‘chilly’ there today…somewhat gray and overcast. It has been very warm weather in CA lately so it is probably nice to have it ‘cool off a bit’. In reality, it is winter time!
I wanted to share with you a photo of my friends from LAS PROFESIONALES AUXILIARY MEMBERS…ASSISTANCE LEAGUE..SAN PEDRO-SOUTH BAY! This is the organization which invited me to become an HONORARY MEMBER last December…the day I was honored at Hollywood Park. These women wanted to honor me for all of my PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS as well as my CHARITABLE WORK! (Please note: MY PHOTO is hanging on their Chapter House wall…right behind them in this picture.) As a gift, they had a fabulous ‘warm and toasty’ blanket made for me to use while in KY. It is very nice!
Well, The Assistance League is celebrating its 75th ANNIVERSARY on May 1, 2011…and I am going to be IN their Anniversary Program. This is truly an honor. I know I am a THOROUGHBRED RACE HORSE….but it is so encouraging to note that HUMANS have recognized MY ACHIEVEMENTS AS AN ATHLETE as well as MY CHARITABLE EFFORTS.
Helping others by supporting various charities has been a big part of my life during the last few years. In reality, I have tried to focus on helping in whatever way I possibly could. I have worked to help my FELLOW HORSES…who need to be retrained for a 2nd career or simply have a safe and happy place to retire as they get older. I have also strived to help provide for student scholarships…by working with RACE FOR EDUCATION. Additionally, I have been very active with my efforts to support the V FOUNDATION for Cancer Research.
My contributions have been significant…and I really feel good about all of them.
Next Saturday, MY TEAM and I will be honored with the FIRST SECRETARIAT VOX POPULI AWARD at Santa Anita. Mrs. Chenery, Secretariat’s owner, is the individual who personally selected US to be the first recipient of THIS AWARD! What an honor that we are her FIRST CHOICE…and that she is traveling so many miles to personally be at Santa Anita for the ceremony!
In relation to this celebration, Santa Anita is doing some wonderful artistic posters to commemorate the DAY! I have heard the posters will be sold that day at the track! For my part of the sale proceeds, I have requested my funds be equally shared between OLD FRIENDS and CANTER of CALIFORNIA. Both of these charities work with such devotion to help so many of my dear, horse friends!
Recently, Dottie saw samples of the posters and said they are lovely and quite beautifully done. (She did add…I look wonderful in them. BLUSH, BLUSH!)
All of this is such an HONOR…and QUITE EXTRAORDINARY!
I feel SO FORTUNATE to be able to HELP!
Enjoy your Sunday!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

SANTA ANITA FEB 5 if you are going, pls. show Zenyatta’s giving ways have inspired you and take a gently used book (in Spanish would be great, ask your friends/co workers if they have any). DVD’s used is fine. New office/stationary supplies. New toiletries. Donations will go to the Zenyatta Womens Lounge, you can refresh your memory on this by revisiting Diary Post #40, where she told us all about it. When you get to the track ask any staff member to direct you to the Marketing Office (Allen Guttermans Office). You can drop off there. Allen will give our donations to the Lounge in the name of Zenyatta.com fans. So lets represent all our friends on this site and take some nice items. You probably won’t even need to leave the house to come up with one or two of these items. Even if 25 people take 1 used book, thats a nice start for a lending library for the Ladies. It will be a nice gesture on our part to show the Moss’es that we really appreciate all they do for charity, and us. We are so lucky they have shared their beloved Zenny with us like this. A quick detour to the Marketing Office is the least we can do. Hope to see some of you there.

Oh Zenny, you have touched sooo many lives in such a great way! You truly just keep giving even off the track! You and your fabulous team certainly deserve the award from Penny. You are the first horse sense the great Secretariat that has touched so many people! You also are the first horse that could run like he did well, maybe not exactly but you know what I mean.
So happy when I read all about the Eclipse awards to notice how many people are finally listening to the fans, owners and others out here. Racing needs its fans more than ever and your team has done the very best job of bringing them in along with you! Loved Mike Repole’s speech…little long though lol! Mary Whitney was superb!

Hi Zenny! Hope you know how loved you are, as are the Mosses’ & the Sherriffs’!
Thanks so much for all you do in helping the industry & helping retired race horses!
Melissa
Team Z you are so charitable. I love how you keep giving back to the horses and the racing industry. You are indeed so deserving of this new award, presented by a legend.
Love the idea of having you and Rachel pose for a picture and offering it to the public. Great idea!!!!!!!

ZENYATTA…and those that don’t know you ask, “so why do you love this horse so much?” You are a true inspiration to me to do more for others…I love the team approach that you & the Mosses, John, Dottie et al have taken. If we could bottle this type of “good energy” up, just think how much better the world would be…I love the pic of the ladies from the Auxillary & how you don’t leave anyone out!
Have a great week…xoxo
Paul
You are really raking in the attention, Zenyatta. An auxiliary group has now made you an honorary member, they recognized you as horse of the year on your appreciation day at Hollywood Park, and you are supporting charities which help horses in need of help. There is a very special place in heaven for you. Not only that, but Penny Chenery, the owner of Secretariat, is going all the way out to California to present you with an award. I bet those posters at Santa Anita will sell like hotcakes. Keep up the good work!

Your just beautiful; inside and outside of you!! You are a giver of the heart. I am thrilled Mrs. Chenery selected you to receive the very first Secretariat award. Wish I could be there. Unquestionably, she knows what a “winner” is; what you have done for the sport of racing; what greatness is. I hope there is a way to see/purchase posters! love n a kiss on your soft nose Keep dancing Z!!

What a wonderful “gift” you truly are, Zenyatta. Just like Ann Moss would always say about you, “shes a gift”. Hopefully more of your fans will be able to donate to horse retirement homes, in your name, with some affordable Zenyatta pictures and merchandise. Just something to think about while you’re out in your paddock. Hugs and Prayers
Judy
It is so wonderful that people love you and want to honor you. And your team wants to help other horses and charitable organizations in your name!! Your charisma has made this possible. You are a wonderful animal that has won so many people’s hearts and respect. You are one of a kind that we are able to enjoy at this time.
I watched the Secretariat movie and can see some similarities in how you raced, posed for the cameras, enjoyed attention and human companionship. You are so fortunate that you had a wonderful team that love you so much and developed you into this outstanding horse.
Thank you for the web site with your news. I try to see it every day and look forward to your pictures.
Love you beautiful Zenny.

Congratulations on the Honorary Member from the Ladies Assistance League. Also, big honors to you, The Queen, from Mrs. Chenery for being the first to receive the Secretariate award. You and your Team deserve these honors for all the charitable works you do and to encourage more participation to great causes. Zenyatta, in a few short years you have done more for the sport of racing and for horses in general than just about any other horse to date. Keep up the good work. ❤❤❤
Doc
