HRTV TO AIR SECRETARIAT VOX POPULI AWARD PRESENTATION TO ZENYATTA FROM SANTA ANITA THIS SATURDAY
TO MY DEAR FANS,
This is exciting! Dottie has been working with the TV and Marketing Departments at Santa Anita for the last few weeks on this AWARD Presention. Well, one of the thoughts was that they send a film crew to the farm to FILM ME in my new home at LANE’S END for all of you to see!
Well, it looks like this is going to happen! YIPPEE! I will be on the BIG SCREEN at SANTA ANITA AGAIN! I love this thought!
The crew is arriving at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday to set up. Then they will be filming ME…in my paddock, with my friends, and in my stall. I am so excited. I gather they will then show this on Saturday afternoon during the presentation. THIS WAY I WILL BE THERE WITH ALL OF YOU TO HELP CELEBRATE!
At the bottom of this press release, Amy mentioned a way to see these HRTV things on a computer. I hope it helps those of you who don’t have this cable channel.
Time to check my HAIR and NAILS!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Santa Anita…PRESS RELEASE
Arcadia, CA, Feb. 2 — HRTV (R) will offer live coverage of the inaugural Secretariat Vox Populi Award presentation, which will be bestowed upon the brilliant, 2010 Horse of the Year, Zenyatta, at Santa Anita Park this Saturday, February 5.
The newly-created award was recently announced and is the first of its kind in horseracing. The annual award will recognize a horse whose popularity and racing excellence resonated with racing fans and gained additional recognition for the sport during the previous year.
Secretariat’s charismatic owner, Penny Chenery, will present the award to Zenyatta’s owners, Ann and Jerry Moss, following the fifth race on Santa Anita’s card. Also expected to be on-hand are Chenery’s daughter, Kate Tweedy, along with Zenyatta’s trainer, John Shirreffs, and his wife, Dottie, as well as the wonderful mare’s jockey, Mike Smith.
In addition to the live coverage of the award, the presentation will also feature footage from earlier in the day of Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, KY. Zenyatta was retired to the Lane’s End Farm last December and the Mosses have announced that she will be bred to 2006 champion 3-year-old Bernardini.
“All of us at HRTV joined the fans around the world in watching Zenyatta’s amazing career,” said Amy J. Zimmerman, Executive Producer of HRTV. “This award unites two of racing’s most popular horses of all-time. We are excited to bring this coverage to the many Zenyatta and Secretariat fans, but also to show them how well the great mare is adapting to her new home.”
Zenyatta captured the imagination of racing fans, and casual observers, during an astounding career that included:
only one hard-fought loss (to Blame in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic) in 20 races. In addition to her Horse the Year recognition, she is a three-time Older Female Eclipse Award winner (2008-10), and a two-time Breeders’ Cup winner — 2008 (Ladies Classic) and 2009 (Classic). The daughter of Street Cry earned more than $7.3 million in purses.

I was counting on watching this ceremony on HRTV in my nice warm home. But, now SE AZ is going on it’s second day of a Gas outage because of the cold weather we are having. Maybe I can talk my husband into taking a road trip to Santa Anita…I would love that! :)

Addendum to my post. My misunderstanding, I thought TVG/& HRTV were one and the same. I specially ordered what cable in my area of Carlsbad has and it isn’t HRTV!!!! Too new to all this horseracing stuff. I’m learning I’m so beyond bummed that I will not see it live on my HD TV & was also planning on recording it. I’m sure I will find it somewhere on the internet. for all of you lucky enough to be there or watch it, how fortunate you are. Thanks again Dottie for arranging this opportunity for all the world to see. I’m sure their ratings will go sky-high. I’m going to campaign for HRTV on Time Warner Cable in North County in San Diego. I could also go to Del Mar and watch it on their tv satellite. I’m determined to see this incredible honor bestowed on Zenyatta and her family.

@Jenna — Vertigineux stands at Ashford Stud in Versailles. She was sold privately to Michael Tabor while in foal with Eblouissante (by Bernardini). Eric Kronfeld, Zenyatta’s breeder, arranged to retain ownership of the unborn foal.
Vertigineux foaled a filly by Henrythenavigator on March 4, 2010.

Zenyatta,
Tomorrow is my son’s 24 th BD, so I’ll have a double celebration to look foward to. Can’t wait to see you big mama. Thank you Dottie and Team Z in CA and KY for letting us share Zenyatta.
Mike Sekulic
What an awesome idea! This should make for quite a wonderful and emotional and moving day! It’s astounding to see the effect this great mare has had on people. But she’s so incredibly great and wonderful, maybe it’s just well deserved!
Just in case some of you haven’t seen it yet, please check out my ZENYATTA blog and photos at bloodhorse.com! And if you like it please leave feedback on their site. I appreciate that a lot.

beautiful horse. i wish her all the best in everything

@Gary Moulton-Thank you for the link on the Eblouissante article. I am so excited to see John work his magic with her! She sounds so much like Zenyatta. This gives us a look at what a Zenyatta/Bernardini foal could possibly be…
My brother suggested the foal’s name to be
Zen Again. It’s easy to say and what all her fans are hoping for-to relive the memories of Zennie over again.

I will never miss this award ceremenoy for anything in the world. Congratulations to you Zenny and Team Z including your wonderful jockey Mike Smith. Thank you to the Mosses, the Shirreffs, Mario Espinoza, the rest of the staff at Barn 55, Penny Chenery and Kate Tweedy. You all saw talent and beauty in this once-in-a-lifetime horse.
Bernie
Dear Team ~Z~,
You have all made me and the world a very special part of Zenyatta’s life which we will be forever grateful. Thank you, it has been a tremendous privilege, you all deserve to bask in the spot light. Go ~ Z ~ Go!
Phyllis
How can I view the Secretariat Award on my computer. I live in Indiana so assume it will be shown here 3 hours earlier?
Thanks for any direction you can give me.
Doc
As I’ve said before Zenny. You are right to be alongside one of 1973’s most brilliant champions. Though, I think you are more like Man’O’War then Secretariat. Even Big Red of the 1920’s lost one race. And the horse’s name was Upset. Hope to see ya soon!!! Long live the Queen!!!!!

Queen-Z & Team-Z,

Take care and Hugs to Queen-Z. Fondly, OraJean
