Good Morning,
The weather has been absolutely GREAT in Kentucky for the last few days. It actually reached the 70′s. WOW…a bit of California in the Bluegrass State!
Here I am enjoying the sunshine with by Paddock Friends. From left to right, they are Sea Gull, P.Q., Alyss and ME! YIPPEE, we are all just relaxing, looking fabulous, EARS FORWARD, and SO HAPPY!
Cooper, who is the yearling manager at Lane’s End, was driving by our paddock when he looked over and saw us in the field enjoying the sunshine! He could not resist jumping out of his truck and taking this photo. I think we all look terrific! So glad he was able to capture this moment…for YOU!
We had a fabulous afternoon! I was thinking back…and this is the warmest it has been since I arrived in Kentucky. It brought back memories. I have not lounged around in a paddock and laid in the sun like this since I was a yearling. I’ve spent a great deal of time ‘sunning’ in California. As many of you may know, John always had me graze and spend a couple of hours each day outdoors with my dear friend, Mario! But to be totally free like this in a large paddock…I have not done this for years!
Hope you have a wonderful day with some of your friends. Enjoy yourself, relax, and most importantly remember to HAVE SOME FUN!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Emerald City Thoroughbred Project
Love to keep up with you! We, at Emerald City TB Project have a dark bay filly, just 3, and her barn name is Baby “Z”, and her name is Zariya, I tell her about what you are up to :) Our research tells us that Baby Z was born premature, and one of her eyes only formed half way, but she functions fine, we are sending samples in for DNA, she was track trained, but, not quite mature enough, physically, or mentally, and for some reason, someone dumped her at a kill auction, and I out bid a kill buyer to ensure she has a great life! Thank you for all you have done for the sport, and donating to organizations helping TB’s after their careers are over… you and your team are a perfect example for the sport of Kings! Bless you all, we will look for your next entry!

Wow–BFFs sharing secrets in the sun. What a great shot. And what great presence of mind to actually carry a camera to get it. Way to go, Cooper!
Also, Z/Dottie–thanks for clarifying the spelling of “Alyss”–I’ve seen it spelled many different ways.
You girls enjoy the sun–I hear more cold is on the way. Have fun together. Love you always.

Hi Zenny, glad to see that you are enjoying a bit of sunshine for a change. The picture of the four of you is great. It was good that Cooper was able to capture it like he did. I’m sure that you and the girls did appreciate that time to bask in the sun. I think it makes one feel good. Hope the weather stays warm for you a little longer. We are still in the winter of the year. California usually has many nice warm days throughout the winter and for me, I like it that way. It looks like you enjoy that free time to run and play in your paddock. I’m so happy for you because I would have thought you might miss racing or maybe get bored but you seem ok so far. I would like you to know that I had my poster of you and Secretariat framed professionaly and I am so proud of it. I did get the one that everyone sighned. I have it hanging up on my wall for all to see the two Racing Royalty. I am blessed to have gotten that as I realize that some people did not get one. Have a very happy week-end. I will be thinking of you as always and love you forever.

How CUTE are you guys! I just love seeing you so happy! You are the Queen and I think of you so often. Can you believe that just such a short time ago you were in training and racing and now you look so incredibly cozy and peaceful in your paddock. I think your team has done a magnificent job in helping you through these adjustments that must have been so overwhelming for you. Just love you so much little gir. – stay warm and happy!

Dear Queen-Z,
Please thank Cooper for taking this wonderful photo and sharing it with your fans!! Earlier, I missed the whole paragraph, in the Entry, that gave us his name, and how this photo came to be. This is such a good example of the true horse lovers that work at Lane’s End, and take such loving care of all the horses. Hugs to you all. Fondly, OraJean

Dearest, Zenny. What a fantastic photo. Thank you, Cooper!! You girls look so beautiful, just soaking up the sun and how wonderful that you are able to enjoy being free in your paddock once again. You deserve all the best, love. It is cold and stormy here in Colorado, so your picture brought me such a feeling of warmth. I can close my eyes and be right there with you, Zenny. How great!! Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
