Here comes When wins the Sussex stakes as Ribchester had to make his own running.A strangely run race but given the atrocious conditions the best horse won on the day.Congratulations to all connections.

Here is Zenyatta and me and her then exercise rider Steve (RIP) outside of barn 55 at Hollywood park in her special grazing area. She had her own private special grazing area (small) just out back of the barn. Hers alone!! I don’t know how John Shirreffs arranged it:)

Ziconic is not a mature horse. He’s only 4. Horses do not reach their full maturity before 6 and sometimes 7. He’s still developing. This is also evident in both Gun Runner and Biscuits.

          Judy,
Thanks for the replay. I am so proud of our boy. A lot of us proud grannies out here. If he had been able to get up on the rail as did Deal With It Dude, I think he could have won. He had to run quite a bit further with that wide trip. When he closed, he was really moving on. Seems both out boys can close like rockets.

Hope John and/or Ann were there to give him some love and kisses for his big effort.

Yes, both he and COZ had to go outside and around horses. They ran further than everybody else. They are both improving so much. Gonna happen soon.

Yes, I hope both of them were rewarded with big hugs and kisses and treats. What beautiful boys they are. Just stay safe and sound Princes. Love and Hugs, JB

He was so close, and when he passed the horse that came in third, he had his ears pinned, that’s the first time I saw that. I think he is figuring it out, that this is a race, and it’s serous, not just a gallop around the track looking around. The very next stride after the wire, his nose was ahead. I really think the next time could be it. Our boys are finally growing up, and taking things serous. They are fast closers, they just have to start their run a little sooner. Remember, Mom had a longer stride then Secretariat, so she could make up those lengths faster. Especially, Ziconic is stockier, but doesn’t have the long stride she had, so he has to run sooner and harder to get there, but he almost did it. Hugs and kisses Red Prince!!

I don’t know if anyone has seen an episode of Yukon Men Roughing It, but I happened to turn it on to see what was on Animal Planet, and was completely shocked! There was this guy with a dog sled, practicing for a race. There was this puppy, much smaller then the other dogs, being pulled along the ground, with the other dogs trampling over him. Finally, the guy stops, and unhitches him from the harness, saying, “I only car about dogs that perform, and this one doesn’t want to pull.” The puppy was limp, I couldn’t tell if he was dead, or unconscious. The man threw him down in the snow, and took off with the team. The camera switched to the sky, with a bird circling. A few minutes later some other men joined him, and they went trapping, and shooting wolves, saying that they wanted to get as many as possible, even until the last one. I shut it off, and emailed them at Animal Planet; it would be bad enough on any other channel, but the Animal Planet, and what it has stood for in all these years, I can’t believe that they would broadcast a show like that. IT GOES AGAINST ALL I THOUGHT THEY STOOD FOR. I gave them my name and email, but they haven’t gotten back to me. It was disgusting!

Animal Planet quit focusing on the good animal stories we came to love them for several years ago when they decided to become more edgy and trendy and celebrate the human animal more than anything. One of their slogans reflected that philosophy but since I rarely watch the channel any more, I can’t remember exactly what it was. At one point I was a devoted follower totally enchanted by Steve Irwin, the Meerkat Manor and some of their early vet shows, but what does building treehouses have to do with animals? Sad.

Normal service was resumed at Goodwood today as Winter won her 4th consecutive group one in what can only be described as NH ground. The mark of a champion.Aidan said she may even try a mile and a 1/2.Can you imagine her taking on Enable in the Arc??Huge congratulations to Winter and all her connections.Yet another Galileo filly.

RIP the great character actor Robert Hardy who has died aged 91yrs.Well known for “All creatures great and small” and also playing Winston Churchill plus the Harry Potter films.I saw him last night in an old Sherlock Holmes episode with Jeremy Brett.Sympathy to all his family.

I am very sorry about Robert Hardy. He was an excellent actor — I loved his Siegfried (sp) in “All Creatures Great and Small”. Of course, he was wonderful as Winston Churchill, but then he was superb in every role that I saw him portray. Loved that Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett! RIP Robert Hardy. Thank you so much.

    Good morning, all
I am wondering why we loyal listers are being kept in the dark. Someone at one point suggested the folks at Lanes End are “angry” with us, any idea why? Although none of us can expect constant updates, we have always had new information more often. It has been 2 months!
There have been many things going on with (our) Zenyatta and her boys that we used to be kept up on. These things we have been learned from different sources. Her breeding to Into Mischief. Ziconic’s race. Development of her new filly. Remember the fun photos we have had of the other babies, frolicking in the paddock with other youngsters. Is there something wrong?
No, I realize we do not have any “right” to be kept posted on things. But if they are going to stop posting and giving us new information and photos, I wish they would just say so. It is getting hard to be disappointed every day when I check the site. Seeing new things occasionally has been fun, not only for me, but for my mom. She does not have a computer, and never will, so I actually take new photos with my phone and text them to her to keep her updated. She is 90 years old and seeing Zenyatta in person is on the top of her bucket list!!!
Someone please let us know what is going on!
    Thanks
