HAPPY BIRTHDAY Debbie G.!!!.So nice to have something to celebrate today.
May you day be filled with fun and laughter and your year be full of love and new adventures. Love and hugs,Debbie S.- great name, smile.
Zenyatta’s full brother’s photo was posted today on “Princess of Sylmar” facebook page. They call him Montey but he hasn’t been named yet. I tried to copy and paste it but it didn’t work. Perhaps someone else has seen it.
He looks very much like our Zenyatta but it’s not a great photo.
Thank you so much for this info. Have been trying to find info and a photo on him for the longest time without success. Will go to POS’s Facebook page and see if I can post the photo here. Love and Hugs, JB
Hello Z family
I went down to visit Ash yesterday and opened his stall door and put the guard up.
Tully came and lay down just outside the stall while I groomed him.She is getting so relaxed, she came into the stall. Then I put her just outside again and continued grooming. I had a funny feeling and looked under Ash’s belly and she was on the other side smiling with a -Got me-kind of smile.Tully was about to come right under his belly to me After that she lay down and settled..Before we left Ash bent down in front of his stall and gave her a kiss and they looked so cute nose to nose.As she left he bent down and nibbled her bottom for the road as she turned to go.So soft she didn’t even notice.Whew.What a nice visit and he,as usual, showed me where he needed some attention and his neck grew a meter as I scratched those spots.
This morning I went down and took Ash out for some grass. The early morning skies were clearing after a big rain storm and the sun shone through. The grass seemed so fresh in the morning after the rain.Ash was walking briskly when I pointed out a patch and said Ok for him to start grazing. He sniffed it and continued on and found the grass met his approval a wee bit down the way. Ash has big pointed ears-we all love that-and they are so soft inside. It was lovely to enjoy some quiet moments to start the day. When I brought him back to the barn my friend arrived and helped me clean up before she was going to tack up for a ride. While I was outside mucking Ash followed me around and I always chat as we move together. Without thinking much about it I told him that my mouth hurt( from some dental work) and asked if he would like to give me a kiss,I was so surprised when he turned his neck towards me and nibbled my sweater over my ribs softly and all down my side..Now,that’s my kind of medicine. He is feeling like a young boy again, what a nice time in his life. His eyes are so clear and curious and he is so happy to go out anywhere, any time.He put the halter on for me earlier (almost by himself) He dropped his head so quickly (he was so excited) he missed the hole the first try.I just held the halter still and he tried a second time.Bingo.I just clear his ears gently and that’s it. Simple things, simple pleasures. Love and hugs to all,Debbie

Thank you for sharing your gentle peaceful day with Ash. Just what we need after so many tragedies. Heard on our local news a few minutes ago that 2 jockeys have been injured at Indiana Downs. One was flown to an Indianapolis hospital in critical conditions. No names were mentioned.
Lovely images of your day with Ash. Am very envious of his willingness to accept the halter – will tell my little girl all about that so she has a role model. My dream is to go on slow gentle walks around the trails at Jeir. You and Ash show me that is possible down the track! Hugs KathyR
Max, He is impressive. I just wish it was a better photo so we could see his face and markings. Hope they’ll post another before he goes to Florida for training.

Dear Mary:
This is the only photo of Z’s baby brother that I found some time ago when he was still very little. He does have a white star on his face (a lot like his Mom’s). Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Max.Toronado is coming out for the Breeders Cup Mile so Hughsey is riding Night of Thunder in the QEII now.I got my knickers in a twist last night about NM,forgot Bullet Train was the 3/4’s brother.I remember Frankel accompanying his mum to Coolmore a few weeks after his birth.I recall them saying how the Coolmore staff observed the attractive foal.Like Dan,Frankel had the best connections. It’s time the Moose was free!PU Dan and Dubai.Sheena.
Sheena. I saw that about Toro. He may have trouble against horses who are used to running on that Santa Anita track. It’s tricky. Might depend on whether he can get a US jockey or Ryan Moore. Long way to go for a horse who is not used to travel.
No worries about Frankel. I certainly agree that Frankel was superbly cared for by Cecil, and his owner. They did well by him. He’s got the best home now at Bansted. Any news of Kind?
LoPresti said that Dan’s not in any pain. No lameness. He’s just got some swelling in his ankle and he’s not entirely himself. Taking treatments on a vibrating machine. He’s still eating however, and excreting pheromones. There have been reports of earthquakes miles away.
Dan’s sister is running at Churchill on November 1. LoPresti says that dirt is her thing. Kick butt Lisa.
Moose, break free.
Groomed Charlie today and visited with him and Hudson and gave them treats.
The vet came this AM and doubled the dose of antibiotics for Dubai in hopes he will turn around. Angela gave him his meds and he was laying down with his head in her lap. We were petting him and talking to him. He wants to be stroked and petted and you can see he has bonded with Angela and he knows she is trying to help him. Hate knowing that he is in pain. Praying hard that he improves. I have read about this and seen photos of horses in distress from lameness, but never have I actually seen it up close. Just breaks your heart.
Angela told me Dubai’s liver enzymes and insulin blood work came back normal. His white cells are raging due to infection and he definitely has a temp. The pain meds aren’t making a dent. There is no evidence of rotation or separation of the coffin bone, which is great news; but his immune system seems unable to fight the infection from the abscesses. Something had to have happened or been given to Dubai while he was racing that caused this. What a sad situation. Angela said the vet will do x-rays probably next week. Hopefully, he’ll be more comfortable by then. When Angela tries to soak his feet (both front feet are lame), he lays down.
Please continue to pray for Dubai. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
So sad about Dubai. Hopefully, he will improve over the night and be much better tomorrow. It is horrible to see any animal suffer especially since they can’t tell you what to do to make it feel better.
Judy B,
Oh how sad, he sounds so miserable. Sure wish he could stand up for that soaking it would help a lot. Am praying hard for him to have no pain and heal those abcesses. PUD. He sure must feel loved though, just so he keeps fighting. love and hugs
Thank you for your concern and prayers for Dubai. Hoping and praying he turns the corner soon. Angela has dealt with abscesses before (sometimes one or two on the same horse). You remember she found the abscess on GG due to a hot nail and in two weeks time, GG was back walking; no more lameness. She has also had cases of Founder that she has successfully treated with return to excellent health and no lameness. This is just difficult because we don’t know what Dubai was given or what exactly happened with him.
Your continued prayers are so very appreciated. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy, I’ll keep Dubai in my prayers. So sorry to hear of the pain. I haven’t had time to check in here on Zenny’s website but in snatches the past few months, but it seems as if it’s a hard time for so many horses. Many of the wild horses here in our mountains have disappeared. Have discovered many of them have been rounded up and sold. I’m so thankful to have photographed and been blessed to remember them in my paintings, but am worried about their fate. I keep thinking of Zenyatta and her own family, and it gives me such joy. Many of God’s blessings, Judy and I’ll keep praying for you and Angela and Dubai. With love, Elizabeth

Sheena. Her last known foal is a chestnut full brother to Frankel and Noble Mission foaled in 2013 like Ziconic? Is that right? I think that the coat must in part be via Urban Sea. Kind might have taken a year off. I think that she was supposed to return to Galileo, but maybe the pregnancy failed. Hope that she is okay. All of her goals are winners. She may end up with better stats than even Urban Sea.
Moose, we’re waiting.

A big thank you to Sandy, Janet, Debbie S, Carol, Sheena, Linda, Ann, Barbara and Judy for the birthday wishes. If I left anyone out, please forgive me!
@Debbie S–thanks for taking up along with you on your visits to Ash. Horses are the best, aren’t they? Tonight we went to see Money, and a strange woman wandered up to the barn with her little girl. Their car had broken down from overheating after they had gone to buy hay. They were wanting to fill some water jugs from the hose, and of course we let them. I was so proud of Money. He just stood there so calmly, as if strangers wander up every day. Actually, it almost never happens. Sherry Beth let the little girl pet his nose and give him a Flax Snack. He was a perfect gentleman.
So thankful you have Ash. hugs.

He just stood there so calmly, as if strangers wander up every day. Actually, it almost never happens. Sherry Beth let the little girl pet his nose and give him a Flax Snack. He was a perfect gentleman.
So thankful you have Ash. hugs.
@Judy B.–will keep praying for Dubai. We know you will update regularly. Hugs to you too.
