Team Z is pleased to announce the first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration!
On Saturday Nov. 2, we will hold a special online-only event in honor of Zenyatta’s fans and her legacy. The event will go live on a special section of Zenyatta.com that morning, and everyone is invited.
There will be a celebration discussion, a live feed of fan photos, and the opportunity to bid on exclusive items in an online auction benefitting racing-related charities.
The auction will include items such as a limited edition mug, signed prints and memorabilia, and an invitation to meet Zenyatta at Lane’s End. We will release a detailed description of all auction items in advance of the event.
We hope the Zenyatta.com Celebration will be the perfect compliment to Breeders’ Cup weekend for Zenyatta fans all over the world. We can’t wait to see you there!

Shari Voltz/Ohio
I like this. Thank you very much. I could never afford to fly to CA. I am also afraid to fly so this makes it like a person is right there. Thank you Team Zenyatta. You are one Class Act. Sending Hugs, Shari
PS my Homeroom says HI !!!!!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Shari–hugs to you. You are right–flying is scarier every day to me, plus the hassle and expense.
Terry Crow
Ms. Voltz-You always enhance the blog when you post. What do you think about Hansen (the horse)?
Margaret
I’d love to see Z again but since I’ve already met her and MANY others here have not I think I should politely step aside on that. Besides those tend to go for 5000 dollars plus…which is way out of my price range!
But an online party! I am so there! Any chance that Z will make a surprise appearance via camera from KY? That would be so cool!
Alene
Can`t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs and Kisses to Team Z and of course “ZENNY”…Would love, love, love to see her!!!!!!!!!!!! Alene

Wow!
Would sell my kidney to be able to see the Queen. Will be too rich for me, besides I have my trip to Kentucky slated for next fall. Must save, save.
I will need to be content to come here and see her on this very wonderful and special site.
What an exciting day that will be.

Read this great article by Frank Mitchell on the Paulick Report today. He talks about the loss of Dullahan and the troubling diminshment of many of our best thoroughbred breeding stock to foreign interests that has been occurring at an alarming rate here.
http://www.paulickreport.com/news/bloodstock/the-lanes-end-weekender-pedigree-farewell-dullahan/print
I also accidently happened upon this beautiful video clip of Dullahan at Santa Anita. It was part of a feature from bloodhorse.com called “Experience-Santa Anita”. If you click on the “Morning Workout” marker you can see a wonderfully vibrant and happy Dullahan going out on the track for a workout at about 1:38 on the video.

Janet Newman
Anita,
Thanks for the post. He was something and we will never get the chance to see what he may have sired.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for the post Anita. I had clicked on some of the other features but not the “Morning Workouts” section. Beautiful view of Santa Anita at sunrise and super shots of Dullahan. Sigh . . .
Terry Crow
Santa Anita is in an awesome setting, in the true sense of the word.
Ellie
Awesome!!
Kathy
Wow! Meeting the Queen would be the best prize EVER!!! Thank you Team Z for coming up with a very clever plan for involving more of us fans.
Cathleen
This sounds fantastic! Thank you! Could you auction off a date with Mike Smith as well?! :)
Terry Crow
Good luck, Cathleen. I won’t be bidding.
Marshall (NC broad)
Thanks so much, Team Z and Lane’s End!! A great idea and such a gift to Zenyatta fans!
Ya’ll are the very BEST!! Hugs

I don’t know if anyone agrees with me but I think the Distaff should be run the race right before the Classic. Lets pick the best male and female at the same time. Don’t like the Distaff on Friday.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
I like the way you think, Shirlee.
Terry Crow
I think the Saturday program needs to be revisited. In fact, the BC people need to look at everything and once again reduce it to a one-day affair. I mean, an Arabian race?
casey
Would love to “attend”, but I’m photographing for the BC so don’t know if I can get get online, but what a great plan for all of Z’s fans!!!
Terry Crow
Looking forward to “seeing” the BC as you utilize your skills, casey.
Irene Caty
Will be waiting to see what this is all about. Love you Z every day of my life and will be waiting to see what is happening on Face Book and will go with that. You are the Queen of racing Zenyatta so this has to be some exciting event for you. Love you forever and will be watching what what kind of event this will be. Love and kisses my beautiful Zenyatta

Get a chance to meet Zenyatta in person? WOW!!
Now THAT would be a dream come true for me.
Yes please! :-)

Dear Anita
Thank You so much for the video of Samantha Nicole, Rachel Alexandra’s Full Sister.
She’s just beautiful. She does look like her beautiful sister. Hope she is doing well.

Can’t wait but I don’t imagine I can out bid anyone for a visit with Zenyatta.

Nearly 600 dogs deaths linked to jerky; FDA seeks help identifying mystery cause
By Gitte Laasby of the Journal Sentinel Oct. 22, 2013
Jerky pet treats have killed some 580 pets since 2007. A total of 3,600 dogs and
10 cats got sick from eating jerky.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been unable to find the cause of the illnesses despite extensive investigation and is now asking consumers and veterinarians for help.

Here’s one suggestion for dog owners: CHECK THAT THE PRODUCT YOU’RE BUYING WAS NOT “HARVESTED” IN CHINA, MALAYSIA OR THAILAND. EXAMPLE: I was recently in the pet section of WALMART and noted that JERKY, RAWHIDE BONES and a LARGE number of dog treats carrying AMERICAN manufacturers’ names were “harvested” outside the USA. Many years ago, I read that if you feed your dog or cat treats or anything else from the countries above, you do so at your own risk. The packages MUST carry the source of the treat/food, as well as the COMPANY name. Don’t be fooled into thinking that an AMERICAN or CANADIAN company is selling food from its own country — OFTEN NOT THE CASE! If you can’t see any indication of where the food/treat content was “harvested” — DON’T BUY IT!
Janet Newman
Abigail,
Absolutely correct.
I started making my own dog treats just for those reasons.
Had to check sources of everything. I am inclined to do that
with my own food as well.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Yikes! Thanks for the extra info., Abigail. Our dogs only get one treat each every day, and it’s one Science Diet hypoallergenic. Hugs.
Max
Abigail. Very true. This is why going for groceries is an epic journey. You have to spend a lot of time reading labels, often very fine print. Like the X Files, trust no one.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Abigail,
Thanks so much for emphasizing this point! I have become very conscious of the country of origin when buying, and especially, when buying products for my fur babies! My dogs are my children and are treasures beyond measure!
I sincerely hope that they can figure out what is going on in this organ-damaging jerky problem and correct it, post-haste. In the meantime, buy USA or Canadian!
Take care and Hugs

One can only imagine the feelings that those pet owners had when their healthy animals took a turn for the worse for no apparent reason. God bless them, everyone.

Still loving and adoring Queen Z. Although Id be willing to sell off a vital organ to see my hero I’m afraid I’m not even getting my hopes up for winning a visit.
Helen Donnelly (Michigan)
Can never get enough of Zenyatta. Thanks, Team Z! Watched the Breeders Cup 30 Greatest Moments in History on NBCS Network. Zenyatta’s win with Mike in the 2009 Classic as #1 was a given. Trevor Denman said it best: “One we will never forget.”
Rosemarie G Cola
Sounds like fun for all you folks.
Unfortunately for me, I have to be at work that morning. (wont miss the BC since I get out by 1ish.) Its my turn to work Sat at my vets office and last year I had to do the same thing. Well at least I get to see the entire Distaff day.
Thanks for doing this for your fans, I’m sure it will be great fun. You folks always come up with something to keep Zenyatta’s fans close to her.

If you want to walk on water you’re going to have to get out of the boat. The boat represents the place of security-so easy to cling to the idea of security even though the actual boat may be flimsy. What “boat” don’t you want to get out of-a familiar but dead-end job, a bad but steady relationship, the belief that you can’t do something?
We all have things (and sometimes people) that we cling to for security. Security in and of itself is not bad, but it can become destructive if it keeps us from becoming who we truly are, if it keeps us from listening to our spirits, if it keeps us in bad situations or relationships. Take a careful look at what gives you security-and then ask yourself, “Do I need to get out of this boat?” It takes some real faith to step out of the boat, but if you really need to do it, you can-with the Spirit’s help.
I knew every stream and every wood. I have lived like my fathers before me, and like them, I have lived happily.

Trina Nagele in So Cal
Lovely post, Kathy. Thanks.
Terry Crow
You know your Native Americans. Clint Eastwood used Ten Bears as a character in The Outlaw Josey Wales, leading many to believe he was fictional. He was not. He is one of the most quoted of all the Comanche Chiefs and one had a meeting with General William T. Sherman.

Team Z you are the best. Can’t wait for Nov. 2, might have to break the bank for a chance to meet The Queen. Thank You Ann, Jerry, and everyone with Team Z for taking such good care of Zenny and her boy’s, and her fans.

Dear Max I certainly got my ponds muddled yesterday poor AJ would have been paddling forever!Geography was never my strongest subject! I’d love a horse in the garden if I had one (a garden that is) remember the sheep and cows would pay a visit to my grandparents garden when I was a little girl loved that!Think Galileo likes his home comforts now so the ladies will have to come to him. It’s Baby Bruce’s big day over here only Zara is a godparent from the royal side of the family big break with tradition.Have a lovely day hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Maybe you’ve started a new trend with ponds? Why not?
Yes, it’s great to have visits from cows and horses. One of my colleagues had to leave work early this week to go home because one of his horses jumped a fence and ran away. She was unhappy because he moved her into a paddock with other mares. She liked being with the geldings. Now she’s with some donkeys. Things seem okay.
Saw a video of Bruce. He looks chubby and happy, a perfect little guy. Is Wills trying to be a commoner? Maybe not a good idea. You’ve already got Dave for that.

What a great party for those who adore Zenyatta! Thank you so much for allowing us fans to be a part of her life!
Happy Breeders Cup to all and love to Queen Zenyatta, Coz, and Z13!

Celeste_in_TX
Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing Queen Zenyatta with us, her loyal fans!! This will be an amazing event. Wow!
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Wow! Am so happy we will have a celebration after all. A Breeders’ Cup without some special attention to Queen Z would not be complete. I love it that in the 30-1 Special, her two Breeders’ Cup Classic races were the top two Greatest Moments! It was as it should be. [Not to offend any Blame fans, but the 2010 edition will always be “Zenyatta’s second Classic”!] No horse in the history of the Breeders’ Cup brought more positive attention to the sport over a 3-year span! From 2008-2010, she put fans in the seats, she raised the handle, she increased TV viewership, and she stole the hearts of a nation. What a tremendous opportunity for all of us to celebrate her legacy, her wonderful spirit.
Like others, I would gladly sell a body part to be able to see and touch sweet Zenny. I did get within 10 feet of her, but she was schooling, and of course she could not be disturbed. Some day, I, too, along with many others, hope to be able to kiss her soft, sweet nose and touch her cheek. Never thought I would turn into a “groupie” of any stripe, but I would gladly stand in the rain, sleet or snow to give her a hug. I missed a couple of chances to see her because I thought when she retired, she would be closer to where I live and I wouldn’t have to travel as far. That hope vanished when she was not as available as she was when she was in training. While I understand the reasons for it, my heart still aches for that personal visit.
Thanks to all at Lane’s End for your endless patience with us, Z’s fans. It is a mixed blessing I’m sure, because with Z in your midst, you always are aware how precious she is to literally thousands of fans (146,000 and counting on her Facebook page!) Once sprinkled with Zenyatta “fairy dust”, all are “hooked”.
Zenyatta never ceases to inspire, to uplift, to bring joy just by being her magnificent self. We are so very lucky to have placed our affections with such a wonderful creature — otherworldly — who has never, ever disappointed, who has never ever failed to live up to the high expectations we all have had for her, both in training and in her new role as a perfect example of a broodmare/mom!
As John said in his goodbye to Z on the last night she was in his barn: “There’s not one thing about you that isn’t exceptional….not one!”
Hugs to all, to Team Z for your generosity and being gracious to share your treasure, to Lane’s End for being so generous with your time and resources, and now also to the Mayberrys for getting on board the “Zenyatta train” in caring for her youngsters, who all have a date with destiny. I have no expectations for them other than they get an opportunity to carry on whatever potential they may have, and to stay safe and sound. Having her foals around her seems to make Z happy, and gives her something to look forward to each spring. I am forever grateful that Nature has been kind to Z in her motherhood role. We know that this is not always so, and therefore, I give special thanks that Zenyatta has been blessed.
God bless.
Maryp NY
Dear Ann Maree,
Your words are how I feel and I couldn’t say it better. I am in total agreement with every word.
