Hello fans,
Last year we held our first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration, and its success left us with no doubt about hosting it again. This event is about celebrating Zenyatta’s accomplishments on and off the track and this community of fans that has only grown since her retirement.
The next four days will be full of Zenyatta love! We’ve prepared a live feed of fan photos (contribute via Instagram or email), an oversized comment section for sharing and discussion, the 2014 Celebration Sticker, an auction of exclusive Zenyatta memorabilia, and our Grand Prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta.
The Celebration is four days only, October 31 through Monday November 3. During this time you can bid on all of the items listed below. Don’t forget to pick up your Celebration Sticker and be automatically entered to win An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. is a CA Non-Profit and a Federal 501 (c)(3) Publicly Supported Organization operated solely by volunteers. They retrain horses for second careers and do an amazing job. Read more about their work at www.tbrci.org.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received over the last two days.
With love,
-Team Z

I could not watch the Breeders Cup on Friday. My heart just wasn’t in it. If we all feel so devastated about Z Princess leaving us imagine how Ann and Jerry Moss must feel as well as all the other connections. I said a special prayer for them. I don’t want to know the details. Good luck to all participants in the Zenyatta celebration. I’m having car trouble and wasn’t able to come to the library to participate.

Ramsey Farm posted that Vicar landed in Louisville about 2 hours ago and was on his way to have surgery in Lexington today.
I plead ignorance. Is a condular fracture something a horse can recover from and do well?
Guess I will pull for Chrome in the Classic. Sure wish my Muchie was running.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Here’s an article from the DRF back in 2011 on Condylar Fractures. Love and Hugs, JB
http://www.drf.com/news/condylar-fractures-no-longer-spell-end-careers
shirleeinindy
Judy,
Thank you for posting the article. I feel a little better about little Vicar’s chances of recovery now.
How about Alex’s boy, Texas Red, The Red Rocket??
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Wishing Vicar a complete recovery. Red was fantastic. Did Daddy proud. Love and Hugs, JB
Especially Horses / So Cal
Wow…Take Charge Brandi Upsets Juvenile Fillies..$125 for $2 buck wager.
Max
Beautiful win by this lovely chestnut filly. Victor hit her once and she let him know that she was having none of that. He then gave her the freedom to run, and she was on her way home. Beautiful.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Especially Horses:
She’s a Giant’s Causeway out of Charming by Seeking The Gold. Thought of our Peggy right away when I saw this beautiful Chestnut filly was a GC. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Dank just tanked in the Fillies and Mare Turf. First and second went to US horses trained by Chad Brown, Dayatthespa and Stephanie’s Kitten. He used to be an apprentice to Bobby Frankel. The other claim to fame: he trains the Snake.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Sheena:
I saw the race. USA 1, 2. Do you think the turf is a bit too firm for the Euro’s liking? We’ll see how the Turf and the Mile goes.
Judy The Beauty and Mikey looked great and Thank You Mary Lou and JV ran a good third. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. It looked like Day and the Kitten were just too good. Day’s a chestnut. Running like Brandi for Dan?
Max
JudyB. We’ll have to add Judy as another chestnut winner. Glad also to see Mike get a win.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I noticed that. First three winners (4th, 5th and 6th races) all Chestnut Club Members. Tribute to Danny. Love and Hugs, JB
carol in arkansas
Just got home….trying to catch up with all happening….should have gone with my gut….thought TCB was sitting on a big one….picked her as one of my two in the Winstar game…
Safe trips to all
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Carol:
Wow! TCB ran great. Good pickin’. Safe and sound to all. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.Congratulations to your namesake Judy the Beauty.!Dank has been retired after her race.Sorry she couldn’t repeat last year’s fantastic win.Love and hugs Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Not even Moore can take down Javier when he’s on a roll. Judy the Beauty is Canadian bred, a daughter of Ghostzapper. Given Woodbine and his reaction to Canada, the Panther had best stay clear of her.
Good luck to the Panther.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena and Max:
She is a Beauty. Hope Dank has a happy, healthy retirement.
Also hoping The Panther is calm, cool and collected today. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Bobby’s Kitten just took the Turf Sprint. Bravo!
Max
I saw Dank’s peeps at the Eclipse awards last year. Very nice peeps. Gave her all of the credit. She’ll do well.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Z Fans:
Texas Red, a son of Afleet Alex, with Kent D up, just won The Juvenile. Happy for both of them. Carpe Diem and JV were second. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. That’s a star crossed race. Only Street Sense has ever won that race and then gone on to win the KD. Take a look at the win by Bobby’s Kitten. He must have been watching Zenyatta training videos. Jaw dropping. Out of nowhere. WOW!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Z Fans:
TR; very impressive. Saw Bobby’s Kitten; brilliant.
Another beautiful Chestnut (USA), Main Sequence, just won the BC Turf. Wow. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Euros used to own that race. Not any more. The chestnuts are rising!
Ann NC
Wow!
Great racing. Must go to a gathering and gracefully leave in order to watch the Classic, unless I can round-up some new fans!
shirleeinindy
Judy,
Texas Red was bred by Stonestreet and they own part of Carpe Diem.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Wow! Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.When is the Panther running?I’m worried about him.Dank will make a great broodmare. We water our turf a lot in the UK maybe it was a bit too firm for Dank but, of course, she was back after a 136 day absence not race fit!The Moose should be there.Sheena
Ann NC
Panther is behaving very well with his pony friend!
Good horse, BP!
Max
Sheena. It rained last night in LA. The turf was good. The Panther is coming up on the Turf. He’s been practising with the ponies and it’s looking all good. Panther, do it.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Z Fans:
Another Chestnut, Work All Week, IL bred by City Zip, wins the Sprint. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Getting to be unbelievable.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I’m loving it. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. US horse won the Turf. Main Sequence. Should have known. He’s a chestnut. Have to find out what happened to the Panther.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Z Fans:
The Panther made a small run, but then he dropped out of contention. Hope he’s OK.
Wow, the Chestnuts rule today. Hope that’s a good Omen for CC. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Looks like there is a break. Karokontie just won the turf mile. He’s Japanese bred with Sunday Silence and Storm Cat blood. Probably feisty. I’m surprised that Juddmonte’s Seek Again was not in contention. Also like Kaigun. It’s a horse race, so ought to know.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.That’s great about Main Sequence he was 2nd to Camelot in our Derby. He has bloomed since coming to the US.Heard about the rain in SA last night.Sheena
Max
Sheena. He came home. He was born in Kentucky. Seems to relate to Motion. Uncle Johnny did well with him. Not certain where the Panther ended up. He was in contention for some of it. Hope Owen keeps him in training. The Mile is coming up. Lots of chestnuts in that one.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.At least we bred Graham Motion!!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Indeed. He was born in Cambridge. I visited there a few times. Very nice. Motion is a class act.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Too funny. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I know.we british are very classy!Oxford and Cambridge are beautiful cities.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. In my opinion, the whole island is beautiful. I lived in Greenwich too for a whole summer. The only problem was the possibility of getting blown up by the IRA. Other than that, all great.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.When were you in Grenwich?70’s or 80’s? remember the bombing was particularly horrible around that time.Wales is very beautiful but then I’m biased!!Sheena

Dear Especially Horses:
What a legacy this Champion has left in Japan. He’s created a dynasty. Love and Hugs, JB
Barbara Brayton
Oh,don’t you hate all the gushing about fashion and movie stars? Yuck.
Barbara Wood
Barbara B.–yes, it becomes tiresome.
Janet Newman
Oh my Word Kristin Chenoweth is singing again this year at the Breeders Cup.
I guess they think we are gluttons for punishment. I hope she sounds better this year, but I do not think I am going to risk it, At least I have not had to put up with the annoying Bob Costas this year.
Deb E.
I will NEVER forgive Bob Costas for what he said about Secretariat not deserving to be rated with human athletes in lists of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century. It shows how ignorant he is; Red not only should have been listed among the greatest athletes, I think he should have been number one! I’m sure he will make the same argument that Zenyatta, as a horse, shouldn’t be included in lists of greatest athletes of the 21st Century. Shows what he knows…
Karen
I agree, champion horses deserve recognition. A few are born with the drive to make them so, realize it.
Barbara Brayton
Ok,we just put the TV on mute!
Janet Newman
Ditto!
sheena.davies(wales)
At least the Euros won the mile!!Sheena not exactly a whitewash!!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Yes, indeed. Love and Hugs, JB
Barbara Brayton
Too bad Chrome did not win, but good race by Bayern.
Max
Sheena. Stay tuned. Toast was second but there is an inquiry.
Max
Results stand. Bayern first. Toast second. Chromie in third.
Deb E.
I have yet to see any of the video NBC took of Zennie for the special profile that was supposed to play during the BC. I guess there was so much footage of her with Princess from the day they visited at Lanes End that even NBC Sports felt it was too heartbreaking to air.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Deb E:
I think your right. Would have been too sad. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Not sure that I will ever be able to watch a video like that. It’s been a hard week since Wednesday. Even watching the races today, I was thinking about Z Princess especially when the fillies were running. She was so lovely.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Me too. She’s never out of my mind right now. Tough to accept she’s gone. Love and Hugs, JB
pamhomeier
I’m not really sure, but I think the shot of Lane’s End was at one of the Saratoga weekends. One particular shot looked exactly like the little group led by Ziconic on the way to truck to take them to Florida. I remember thinking at the time that was the filming by NBC. I think it was that very weekend after the whole announcement was made on this blog.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I am so proud of Toast. I had a feeling he’d run a good race.Sad he couldn’t win though. It’s gone 1am over here so I’d better think of hitting the sack!Goodnight.Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Dubai, Boo and all the Sweeties
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Z, COZ, ZI, V and Montey:
Goodnight. Stay comfy and cozy. Love You. Hugs, JB
Z Princess, will always love you.

Dear Judy.Exciting night of racing for you!Toasty ran so well.Hope you have a good day at the farm and that Dubai is better.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules Dubai Frank Boo and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Yes, it was a day of surprises. Toasty ran a great race. I thought Chromie gave it his all and Shared Belief, despite everything, finished forth. Looking forward to seeing Dubai and, of course, my Charlie. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Dubai, Boo and all the Sweeties
Faithful Z Supporter
Saw Mikey being interviewed afterwards feeling he’d been cut off on purpose. Well, sour grapes are a waste of time, and as a professional he should know that. C’mon Mike, you’re better than that. Move on. We still love you.
Max
Our Mike may have been indeed right. Most commentators have disagreed with the stewards and have called instead for a disqualification of Bayern. Will be interesting to see how this factors in to the HOTY voting.
Barbara Wood
What a finish in the Classic. I am so proud of Chromie. It was almost a 3-way photo finish. If they stay healthy and continue to race, these could meet again next year.
I am sorry that Mikie got boxed in, but it does happen. It rarely happened to Zenny, because she just let them go–lol! Then she ran them down from behind.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Barb W:
Great efforts by all of them. Hope everyone comes out of the race OK. Love and Hugs, JB
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Hey, how come no one’s posting on the special celebration page? There’s all of 25 comments.
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
So often today at the Breeders Cup races, the commentators including the gentleman from RF were not right on any of their named winners for a race. I least I don’t believe so. All to prove one never knows for sure. There is a lot of traffic out there!!
Sally B
shirleeinindy
SallyB,
My picks did better than theirs and I “heart” bet rather than “head” bet.
SallyT
Personally, I would like to hear much less from the commentators about their picks, and everyone else’s picks (celebrities & handicappers) and more about the horses & their back stories. (I find that much more interesting.)
Barbara Wood
Sally T–I couldn’t agree more!
Kimberly
My prayers are with the connections to Z Princess. So sad. She was a beauty just like mom!
quarterhossgal
The Classic was a great race….so glad to see CC do so well. So little between the first three horses! Now maybe Chrome will continue to race another year.
It was hard watching the ads for stallions and seeing pictures of the foals after losing Z Princess this week She was one special weanling! So much like Queen Z.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear quarterhossegal:
I was thinking the same thing. Not possible to see any photos or videos of foals without feeling sad. She was so verybeautiful. Love and Hugs, JB
