Hello fans,
Last year we held our first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration, and its success left us with no doubt about hosting it again. This event is about celebrating Zenyatta’s accomplishments on and off the track and this community of fans that has only grown since her retirement.
The next four days will be full of Zenyatta love! We’ve prepared a live feed of fan photos (contribute via Instagram or email), an oversized comment section for sharing and discussion, the 2014 Celebration Sticker, an auction of exclusive Zenyatta memorabilia, and our Grand Prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta.
The Celebration is four days only, October 31 through Monday November 3. During this time you can bid on all of the items listed below. Don’t forget to pick up your Celebration Sticker and be automatically entered to win An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. is a CA Non-Profit and a Federal 501 (c)(3) Publicly Supported Organization operated solely by volunteers. They retrain horses for second careers and do an amazing job. Read more about their work at www.tbrci.org.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received over the last two days.
With love,

Per his facebook page, Vicar had his surgery yesterday and did fine. Will be going home to Ramsey Farm to get some TLC very soon. So glad this little horse is doing okay. Lucky horse to have an owner like Ken Ramsey.

Fact- As a yearling Texas Red’s training partner was Cosmic One (one of Zenyatta’s foals) because he was big enough to go with him
Barbara Wood
Wow! How fascinating! Thanks for digging this info. up for us..
pamhomeier
That IS very interesting. While watching the two year olds run I had to wonder how Coz would size up to them. Now thanks to BG we have a little peek!
shirleeinindy
Wow, I would have loved to see that! I thought Texas Red looked like a big horse but wasn’t sure.
Still glad that they are taking their time with Coz and Jess’s Dream. Great ownership and training teams. Think it is interesting that Ms. Banke did not send Taco to Pletcher???
Stephanies Kitten did not meet her reserve yesterday at the sale and is on her way home to the farm!

Wow, Cosmic One!! Where were they together? Was it at Mayberry Farm?

Dear Sheena:
Yes, Hudson is settling in very well. Charlie is such a sweetheart. He’s so patient and accommodating. Dubai is looking so much better. Will take a photo of him on my next visit.
Did you hear Angela say in the video, “Frank, that’s my hand”. He’s so intent on getting the donuts, he sometimes misses and pecks Angela’s hand. That was little Captain trying to get a taste of the donuts. I gave him a carrot instead. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Dubai, Boo and all the Sweeties

Tapit’s Fee Doubles to $300,000 for 2015
By Myra Lewyn The Blood=Horse Nov. 3 2014
Tapit , the nation’s leading sire who stands at the Beck family’s Gainesway near Lexington, will stand in 2015 for a $300,000 fee, Gainesway announced Nov. 3 prior to the start of the Fasig-Tipton November sale in Lexington.
The 13-year-old son of Pulpit out of the Unbridled mare Tap Your Heels stood for an advertised fee of $150,000 in 2014. He set the single-season earnings record for a North American-based sire Oct. 31, when Untapable won the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park, eclipsing the earnings mark set by Smart Strike in 2007.

California Chrome to race as a four-year-old, owner says
By Steve Ginsburg Reuters Mon Nov 3, 2014
(Reuters) – California Chrome, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness champion who finished third in Saturday’s $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, will race as a 4-year-old and forego, at least for now, a lucrative career at stud, owner Steve Coburn told Reuters on Monday.
Coburn, who co-owns the horse with Perry Martin, said he would choose the races California Chrome will run in 2015 very carefully.

This is GREAT NEWS!!! CC is going to have a fantastic career as a 4 year old. Looking forward to seeing his next race.
He should and deserves to win Horse of the Year, big time. He won the Kentucky Derby. All the other races are fluff compared to the Kentucky Derby.

Z Princess, will always love you.

Dear Judy B, Hudson sure loved his riding in his new indoor arena! I am sure it is bittersweet seeing Hudson have a new home, but I am sure you will stop there to visit and watch.
Charlie just looks so sweet all geared up and ready to go!! Frank seems to really like it there!!
Thank so much Judy, and continued prayers for Dubai.
love n hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
My Dear Sally:
The good news is, Hudson’s new barn is walking distance to the farm, so I can stop there first and visit with her, Deb and Amanda and then go to the farm to see Charlie, Dubai and Boo. The girls have been wanting access to an indoor ring for a while now and they were thrilled when this new one became available so close to the farm. Hudson loves those stud muffin treats, so I have to keep her supplied with them.
Charlie is just such an easy going boy; just waiting patiently. Yes, Frankie is happy; especially when he’s getting his favorite treat.
Thank you for continued prayers for Dubai. Love You. Hugs, JB
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
Judy B. How awesome is that!! I know you will continue with those stud muffin treats. Now at our barn, Fancy and Frito being 33 and 34 yrs old I give them only cooked pieces of carrot; easy to chew. Jo can not have any treats any more because of any sugar content. I really feel so bad but I do follow the rules…pooh!
There are times at the ages our horses are at, with Fancy. the oldest slowing down so much in the past couple months with arthritis pain in her legs, and Frito who can not chew very well and we soak her food to a mush so she gets her feed, what this winter will be like for them. It gets cold in Wisconsin!! I know how much I loved Sir, will always love Sir, and I do love the others and wish to care for them, but I wonder if we are doing too much sometimes to continue their lives. I wish they could speak. They appear happy, but I just want to be humane because it can not be for ourselves.
love n hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sally:
I know what you are saying about wondering if we try to keep the older ones longer than they want to be here.
There are a couple of older horses at the farm too. We have to give them very small bits of carrot and not too many. One is Mama; she is 34 and blind in one eye and there is another one, around the same age. Angela simply feels that if they are not in pain and are eating enough to sustain them, enjoy going outside in the paddock during the day and coming in at night, then she just lets them be. Both of them are eating well and going out every day.
I feel bad for Jo too because she can’t have any treats, but you’re giving her all the care and love she needs and she thrives on the attention.
I think once the older ones stop eating and don’t enjoy going outside to graze anymore, then it’s there way of letting us know it’s time to let them go. Never easy. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
My personal view is that euthanasia for horses needs to be used in extreme circumstances only, to avoid unnecessary pain and suffering to the horse. If a horse is otherwise well and is only old, let the horse live for whatever length of days are given. Life is the most precious thing in this world and should be meticulously respected in all creatures. We are not God.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
That is how Angela feels about it too and I agree. Keeping them comfortable and pain free is most important to avoid suffering. That’s true of our beloved dogs and cats too. Love and Hugs, JB
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)
I agree. I fought for Sir with all my might and heart. I brought this up because sometimes it is hard to see them some days walking so slowly as though it is such a great effort and I wonder if they are in some pain. God may call them any day or perhaps not. Our sanctuary does not close their barn doors at night and I have worked their at night in winter, at times it is brutally cold. In the past I know they have done better than I!! Another winter coming and they are more fragile. Most of the paddock area is concrete; they may not get up if they fall from an icy patch. These 33 and 34 yr. old Fancy and Frito are a big concern of mine. They still love to eat though!!
hugs, Sally B
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sally:
I can see why you are concerned for them. I know you will do whatever you can to keep them comfortable. It’s tough when you don’t own them and can’t make all the decision for them. But they know the love you have for them. God Bless you and the horses. Love and Hugs, JB
SallyB.(AuntiecherishesZandheryoung)

Thanks for the videos.Charlie is so handsome and looks proud and ready to go in his beautiful western tack. Good to hear Dubai is improving and send lots of love to him.Hugs,Debbie
Ash has been doing fine, enjoying life and getting ready for colder weather with a fuzzy coat coming in.He is in great spirits and getting lots of exercise.
It was Ash’s day off today but I know he wants to be out every day and try.Went down and took him out for a handwalk and grass. He whinnied and when I walked into the barn all the horses had their heads out over their stall doors and it is a really lively welcoming committee. Ash is at the end and I go along by them all with greetings until I get to my boy.Monsoon rains today but his new blanket is light and waterproof and just right for fall days. He dives into the halter and is so excited yet stays with me and is mindful of me on our way to his grassy delights. He had a little spook with a loud sound through the bushes and shook abit but just kept his head down grazing. A few minutes later a really weird sound came from a truck like air decompressing and woooosh, his head shot up so high,so fast,my hand was under his belly saying,”I’m here”, and he just looked and then went back to his grass.Lucky me,I forget how powerful he is until a moment like that.On the way home he was really relaxed, lots of chewing and his head was low and down by my shoulder.Lunch was in the stall when we arrived at the barn, nice hay and two full water buckets for dunking.I put some treats in the corner bucket, apples and carrots and he munches down every one and then licks the bottom of the bucket- really knows how to get the most out of life-smile.Every day is precious,he has had hard times.I am so happy for today. Hugs,Debbie

Love catching up on everyone’s posts. Am in the middle of a project I need to complete, so haven’t had much time to check in. Wrote a quick poem today in keeping with Zenyatta’s Celebration at Santa Anita. It helps with the sadness of the week to put positive thoughts down on paper. Zenny is so very special, and her website has been such a blessing to me and I think everyone here in her website family. Wishing everyone here on the Zenny’s site and her family a blessed evening.

Dear Max:
Willing Foe placed 13 in the Melbourne Cup: feeling here is that Godolphin should have given him a run prior to the Cup. He ran on well in what was the fastest Cup since 2002. Admire Rakti for Japan (and the favourite) finished last.
Max
Given what happened after that race, I’m glad that he’s okay. He is okay?
KathyR
Tragedy strikes the Melbourne Cup.
Caulfield Cup winner, Admire Rakti, who finished last today in the Cup, collapsed and died in his stall after the race. And in a further dampener on the day, another runner, Araldo shied when a child waved a flag at him , fell and broke his sesamoid. Vets are trying to save the horse. Very upsetting.
Celeste_in_TX
How sad. That is such a tragedy for such a grand celebration. My heart goes out to all those concerned connections and fans.

KathyR
Dear Debbie S.
Has been a really lousy Melbourne Cup. Most upset about it all.
General is doing well, goes to the vet on Thursday for blood tests to see how the medication is going. My little girl is doing nicely with the removal of poor Red – biggest problem is trying to get her relaxed enough to have a fly veil put on – she’s never seen one, and I’m just going really slowly to get her used to it: the flies are starting to be a problem, and with her pink nose she needs protection from skin cancer. But we’ll get there. I just thank the good Lord that she’s safe from having to race. Thanks for asking. Hugs, KathyR

Individuality colors life. Our moods have color, our clothing, our skin-tones, our ideas. We were not created to be all alike, but we were created to be ourselves-to fill a place that no other person could fill. The earth would be a dull place if every hill and tree and valley were in a line and nothing could ever be different. If everything had one drab color or was totally flat, we would follow suit and be just as dull. No rule exists that we have to be like everyone else. We don’t have to follow trends and do unwise things because someone else is doing them. Our lives are separate entities-apart from the crowd. It is our a du da lv di, our personal responsibility to keep self-respect, without question.
God Almighty has made us all.

Poor Fubu’s mum is ill again and he’s on nursing duties thinks she got cold going out Thursday. The Mcgoose babies are growing they are just too cuddly!A lot of money was raised for Joey’s playroom he’s got over 515,000 “likes” now nearly 100,000 more since he passed away.Enjoyed the video of the horse playing with the dog such joy!
Have a lovely day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
Mango is such a doll. Loved her pink blankie. She and her moms are to be commended on their Freedom Wheels charity. Fabulous work. The B&B Bandits are adorable.I tink it’s virtually impossible for Boo and Buddy to take a bad picture. I worry about Marty and that cat! Hope the cat ate just before the picture! lol Congratulations on his Czech bizness license. There’s no stopping him. Sorry to hear of Kimberly’s illness. The McGoose’s are so beautiful. Max and Mia don’t look like throwback poms to me. I think they’re the small variety. Adorable little family. That’s wonderful that Joey’s playroom has raised so much. Good too that his likes have increased. It somehow makes it hurt a little less if he is still being “liked.” Horses and dogs. What a great combination! As you say, “JOY.” Have a good day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
