Happy February!
Last fall we held our fourth annual Zenyatta Celebration, raising $20,000 for Thoroughbred Rehab Center Inc. Five participants were chosen in a random drawing to win the grand prize, An Invitation to Meet Zenyatta. Each winner was invited to travel with a guest to Lane’s End Farm to meet Zenyatta and receive a tour of the farm. These photos document their visits. Photography by Alys Emson.
View the complete set of photos from these visits in our 2016 Zenyatta Celebration Photo Gallery.
Some of you have noticed that we’ve been posting less frequently, but our winter break is no cause for concern. Zenyatta is happy and healthy, and we got to see her at Lane’s End in late January. We’ll be posting images from our visit soon.
Enjoy!

Becky from Toronto
I was just wondering ….. why was Zenyetta such a late cover when she was open the year before? I always thought the closer to January 1st the more time the foal has to grow into a strapping yearling. What is it a May delivery this year?
Nice pictures. Thanks Team Z
Cathy
She had a foal that sadly didn’t make it last year.
Tiffany George
She may not have taken on the first try or 2. I kind of think they started earlier? Also, Z is a “late” baby herself, and as we know that didn’t slow her down!!

I realized later I should have put my below response as a reply to Becky’s post (so it’s not taken out of context as a stand-alone comment) – at the time I wrote it there was only the one post:
“Zenyatta lost the baby boy she had last spring (her 4th baby) – he died a few days after he was born in April – so she didn’t have last year off. That’s why she’s a little later this year.”
M in Oregon
She foaled mid April and was bred back in May. Her Colt 2016 Colt died :(

I’m so glad all is well, have been wondering :) Zenyatta is still my all time favorite!!! Thank you Team Z for all the special care she has received. Love the pics

I’m so happy to see her having fun visiting with the winners of the grand prize… she’s such a sweet girl.

Oh Zenyatta, you greet those who love you so with so much elegance and grace. You look so happy and healthy!! My prayers are washing over you and your unborn baby. Medaglio d’Oro is certainly handsome, Queen Zenyatta, and he is a very suitable sire for our baby.
Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Alys, Team Zenyatta, and Team Lane’s End for keeping Zenyatta Nation informed.
xoxo to ALL,

Thanks to Team Z and Lane’s End staff.

To the lucky winners…
You felt a bit of glory,
The day you met our Queen,
She’s the closest thing to heaven,
Our eyes have ever seen.
Did you whisper words to her,
That told her we ALL care,
I just happy to be part of it,
Through these photos we now share.
Love to all…
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)

I just saw the pictures of Zenyatta’s visitors. Love them all. Wow, those photos really show off Mama Z’s size; reminds me how big she is. Love the lady’s hat she knitted in Zenyatta’s colors, such a nice touch. Wonderful photos of our girl!

What great pictures of the lucky winners. Zenyatta looks happy and healthy! I cannot imagine what it would be like to meet her in person. If I ever did, I don’t think I would be able to leave when it was time to go!! I LOVE her so much!!

Awaiting press release. Apparently Lucky Pulpit passed away today. So sad.

First Royal Delta, now Lucky Pulpit……………and BOTH with so many years ahead of them! And, of course, having Royal Delta pass during foaling has me more on edge than I usually am when Zenny is approaching her due date.
Thank you, Lucky Pulpit, for giving us our beloved California Chrome. Thank you, Royal Delta, for the thrills you gave us on the race track. And thank YOU, Zenny, just for being you! Please let the racing gods be with you when your Big Day arrives and watch over you and your soon to be beautiful foal.
Happy Valentines Day, Zenny! Lots of love to you.
Mary Ardito
Thank you Team Z for the updates on our Z. I was researching yesterday as I’ve not seen any recent updates and was becoming concerned about her and the foal she is carrying. So happy all is going well. Can anyone tell me when we can expect to see her two colts race. I watched them when they ran but its been months ago and I’m just wondering if we will be able to view their future races. I live close to Santa Anita so I’d love to be their when I seen them in the line up.
Thank you once again and I look forward to reading more and seeing that beautiful mare and her baby.

Thank you so much for these great photos of “The Hostess with the Mostest”, our beautiful Zenyatta being her sweet, sociable and gracious self. She clearly still loves company and hasn’t lost her instinct for the camera lens. She is so photogenic! Big congratulations to all the winners and their friends. What a wonderful experience for them — memories for a lifetime. Some were even able to visit inside the paddock with the Queen! Fantastically exciting.
Hope everyone had a nice winter break. Happy to hear that Z got a January visit from her beloved folks, too. Sincere thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Moss for their generosity to us, Zenyatta’s subjects!
Hugs and Love to Zenyatta, Team Z and Lane’s End
