Team Z is proud to announce that Zenyatta’s chestnut colt by Tapit has been named.

Inspired by the iconic Zenyatta herself, Jerry Moss has chosen the name Ziconic for her second colt.

Ziconic = Iconic with a Z! (zīˈkänik)

    As a lover of the iconic Secretariat, I am delighted that Zenny’s chestnut boy will be named Ziconic. He will always remind me of Big Red and his own wonderful momma.

      True, Brenda. I feel the same way about Ziconic. And thanks for reminding me that he carries Secretariat in his pedigree. For some reason, I never think of Tapit as an AP Indy, possibly because he’s a grey. Love to you & Vic.

    He is such a beautiful horse. He will always be know as the little red haired kid to me, but I do like his new name Ziconic. Thank you for all the up-dates. Love to Zenyatta for a safe delivery. Can’t wait to see Z14.

    Oh I just LOVE the name! It’s perfect! Iconic with a Z! Beautiful. I really like how they are incorporating a ‘Z’ for Zenyatta in her babies names. A nice nod to their amazing mom. I’m sure she is happy with Ziconic! :)

    What a great name! I love it. It is utterly singular, a name that Ziconic can make his own, forging his own legacy. Well-done, Mr. Moss. Naming a racehorse is no small feat. It’s both a gift and a task.

    Love his name…..he is a beautiful colt….love his color. He has his mama’s ears….ones that we all have come to love ….our dear Zenyatta. Z is beautiful and she has beautiful colts. I wish she would have a girl this time that looks just like her and has her warm personality. Also would be great if she would have a dancing girl just like her. :)

    Great News! The Red head has a name……Ziconic……great choice for this beautiful boy. I love both the names the Mosses have chosen, obviously with a great amount of thought behind them.

    I am just as excited about CoZ’s chances of being great as Ziconic’s. I think both have great potential, and I don’t think color has much to do with it.

    Zenny hang in there girl, any time now, praying for a safe delivery and healthy baby. Kisses on all noses.

    Ziconic is as perfect as a name for a horse could be. He IS the spitting image of his iconic GGG grandfather, Secretariat. He is the child of the iconics Zenyatta and Tapit. Hooray!! The Mosses have come up with yet another cosmically perfect name. I just hope their little Moon Goddess, if goddess she be, comes soon. Especially hope she or he if he’s a little Moon God, comes tonight at 11 something PM as that’s my date/time contest entry. nce again Hooay for a perfect name.!!

    Love the name! Was hoping they would incorporate his cobra blaze somehow – “CobraZ” or something like that, but once again, the Mosses have picked a great name. I hope both Coz and Zi will carry on the best of their lineages, both on the track and at stud. Wouldn’t that be great if Mama Z became broodmare of the year like her mother did?
