Team Z is proud to announce that Zenyatta’s chestnut colt by Tapit has been named.
Inspired by the iconic Zenyatta herself, Jerry Moss has chosen the name Ziconic for her second colt.
Ziconic = Iconic with a Z! (zīˈkänik)
To celebrate the new name, we are releasing this portrait of Ziconic in the Zenyatta Shop.

Enjoy!

I love that Ann and Jerry continue to be so involved in the non racing side of horse ownership. Thank you for being such great icons in this industry. It is clear that it is not just a business to you both. Z is one lucky gal to have you.

I like the name Ziconic BUT liked one better that someone suggested on this blog… TapdanZen.
But I like Zi’s name better than Coz’s name.
It’s all good.
Barbara Brayton
Bless his heart. I hope Ziconic does well.

Ziconic = strong name, easy to remember, easy for race caller, and
great tribute to the iconic Tapit & Zenyatta.
Well done Ann & Jerry Moss.

I didn’t hear the name of her first foal. Anyone know?
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Her first foal is named Cozmic One. He was born in 2012 and is in training in Ocala FL. His sire is Bernardini. This colt, the newly named Ziconic, is by Tapit. He was born last year and is still living at Lane’s End.
Darlene Daniels
I love the name. Ziconic is perfect. I can just hear the race announcer now “And here comes Ziconic down the stretch, moving like a bullet”
Sandi Schlemmer

Great Name Jerry…
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Love the nickname possibilities: “Zi” (like “Cy”) or “Connie” like the great Connie Mack of baseball fame. All new names sound strange and then they become “normal” sounding with use. Remember “Secretariat”? Sysonby? Ribot? Makybe Diva? Really strange sounding at first, but they became household names.
Thanks, Team Z for allowing us to share all of these wonderful moments with you. My comment upon hearing that the Queen had once more crashed the internet “after all these years”, it reminded me of the song, “Still The One” by Orleans: http://youtu.be/h3s8Ji9bnaE
I keep wanting to remind Mr. Farish about his early comments right after Z arrived at Lane’s End, when he commented that like all broodmares, she would soon fade in popularity and retire to obscurity. Would love to hear what he has to say these days…. I know he has fallen in love with her, as everyone inevitably does when the Zenyatta “Fairy Dust” falls on their shoulders. She is truly one of a kind, and grows more popular with every passing day. She is the original. And, we will have years of hopes and dreams and looking forward to seeing if any one of her foals has even a tenth of her brilliance and talent, not to mention personality. Whether they do or not, though, they will have a built-in fan following because of their mama, and each of her foals, I predict, will be “people” horses, not just because of Zenny’s influence on them, but because everything that surrounds Zenyatta brings out the best in the humans around her, and in particular, Ann’s loving bonding with them imprints them with that special “almost human” quality. It’s a joy and a privilege to be in the aura that is Zenyatta through Team Z’s generosity with sharing the beauty and love of Zenyatta. Thanks so much! Hugs to all. Love you all.

Love the name Ziconic. Very fitting. What a looker he is. He sure has the look, like some other red horse from 5 generations back.
Ann Maree/Tennessee – I couldn’t agree with you more. Everything that is linked with Zenyatta has that “Fairy Dust”. God has Blessed us all with the pure pleasure of Zenyatta.
Sally Blank (cherish Z for my lifetime)
