It was a pleasure to be able to spend time with Zenyatta and see her doing so well. She was looking so good and, most importantly, happy! It was especially great to visit with some of her longtime friends Claudia and Julio, who never missed a race. There was lots of joy to be shared, and of course a few carrots :)
We also were able to visit with Coz, and what a special experience that was. I have always wanted to sit atop Zenyatta, not even hoping to ride her, but never got the chance. There I was, with Isabela and Sergio‘s kind suggestions and help, riding Coz!! It was absolutely thrilling and such a joy…something I had never even dreamed!
He continues to do so well in his new life and they are very excited about his coming competition in the Thoroughbred Makeover this October 5-7. I am so hoping to be there and cheer him on. It is absolutely wonderful to see him soooo relaxed and happy and actually “jumping” in joy.

Ann, what great pictures! Would you & the connections ever putting a Zenyatta Tour on Horse Country Tours? There are so many of us fans who have never had a chance to see her in person. That someday, somehow is on top of my bucket list. I enter all the contests trying to win as I am sure many do. People on the west coast had the pleasure of getting to watch her race in person & some even got to get close to her. Us on the east coast didn’t have that pleasure. Now she is within our reach! Thank you for all the love you have for Zenyatta, Coz ,Ziconic! We love them too!!!

Judy,
I wondered if he were injured or sick after that poor showing in the race. Glad he will have some time off back home at Stonestreet. A couple of months of Kentucky bluegrass and time to relax will be so good for him. And, as we all know, those Curlins get better with age and there is always next year. Too many retire as 3 year olds.
What a joy it has been to see Ann, Coz and Zenyatta. This blog entry was worth the wait. Hope we hear how the little girl is doing soon. Wonder if all the delay is because she needs more time to correct the problem with her foot?
Just returned back to Indy from a few days spent at home in central Kentucky. It is very very green for this time of year and as always, beautiful beyond belief.

Dear Sheena, Marshall and Shirlee:
Hoping Magic will back to himself soon. Such a beautiful Chestnut boy and brave heart. Brought back memories of Uncle Mo. Sending healing prayers.

A huge “thank you” to Alys for these beautiful portraits and to Team Z for this uplifting update!
Ann and Zenyatta both look absolutely gorgeous! It’s so clear from the expression on Zenny’s face and in her eyes that she adores Ann (we already know, of course, that the passion is mutual!). Thank you, Ann, for your thoughtful words — they made me misty eyed.
Such a treat, too, to hear that Coz is happy and thriving. Such a handsome boy!
As the Saratoga Meet comes to a close this weekend, as always I find myself so humbled by and grateful to these wondrous, awe inspiring animals.

What a JOY to see pictures of Zenyatta. She looks happy to visit with Ann. Been following CoZ on the desousa stables Facebook site. So much fun to watch him do his jumps, which are getting higher as he progresses. Love to all. Z17 surely has a name by now?
Kimberly
What a lovely post! Zenyatta looks as magestic as ever and very well rested. Coz is such a big boy now!! How lucky are you to ride him!!! Thank you so much for a beautiful update. We all love and miss Zenyatta. There will NEVER be a horse like her. ?

Dear Z Fans:
Do you remember one of Z’s pasture mates named Sea Gull. She was in that beautiful photo with Z, Pirate Queen and Alyss. Diary Blog No. 189. They were all laying down in the sun. Well, our Peggy told me about a horse that she loves. His name is Catalina Cruiser. He’s started 4 times at Santa Anita and at Del Mar and he’s won every time. As I checked his chart I found that he is by Union Rags out of Sea Gull. He is four years old and was born on April 27, 2014; seven days after Z Princess was born.
Here’s an article with photo. He’s a gorgeous Chestnut. Godspeed; safe and sound. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy B.,
What a beauty! Catalina Cruiser certainly is a handsome chestnut — what is it about a fine red horse that gets your blood rushing? :-)
Thanks for the article and Godspeed to Catalina C.! Hope his mama is doing well, too.
Hugs and Cheers

Dear Marshall:
Love them all; but Ah, those Chestnuts: Man O’War, Secretariat, Affirmed, Charismatic, California Chrome, Danny, Justify, Ziconic, my Papa Charlie and soooo many more. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I’ve been going on and on about him since his first appearance!! He won our race last week at Del Mar! ??. Go Catalina Cruiser!
Sandy
Thanks so much for the update and photos! I was happy to read recently about Coz’s new pursuits. I still watch videos of Zenny’s races almost weekly and never tire of watching her come from behind and leave everyone else in the dust. She will always be my favorite horse – and I’m old enough to have followed and loved Buckpasser, Damascus, Dr. Fager, and Kelso as a little girl!
shirleeinindy
Judy,
Thanks for the news about Catalina Cruiser. I have seen news of him and knew he was a Union Rags but did not remember the name of Sea Gull. Hope she is doing well. He son seems to be something very special.
Jerry & Ann Moss have an entry in the John C Mabee. A 4 year old filly named Achira. Safe trip to her.

Dear Shirlee:
I hope Sea Gull is well too. We’ll have to watch Catalina Cruiser. Godspeed to Achira. Love and Hugs, JB

So happy to see you, Ann, with our precious queen. I know she was thrilled to see you. You both look beautiful. I’ve missed her so and am thankful to see her again.
What a joy for you to ride Coz! Would love to know what he was thinking. Wonderful that he doing so well in his new career and seems so much more settled. He’s gorgeous. What is happening with our baby girl and does she have a name? She is another beautiful horse.
Thank you for the great pictures. Hope all is well with you.

Wow, just saw Night Prowler almost win Race 4 at Saratoga! He came in 2nd by less than half a length. He really is handsome (love these chestnuts)
Wasn’t he one of your favs, Shirlee? Glad to see him again!

Dear Z13Rulz and Z Fans:
Photos along with this article are very difficult to look at. I just skimmed over them. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
This is such a disgusting thing — how awful. These poor horses have gone from one hell to another. These people are monsters and should be ashamed; no, they should be locked up for a long time. The photos are very hard to view. I hope the real rescue angels can take custody of these sad abused innocents. God bless them all and RIP to the lost ones.
Thanks for posting this article. These operations desperately need exposure to full light so they can’t continue. They must have darkness to exist so shine those lights on them and send them into oblivion.
Hugs and Love
Judy Berube
Dear Marshall, Z13Rulz and Z Fans:
I still do believe the bottom line is that the Jockey Club, National Thoroughbred Association, Breeders, Owners and Trainers have to work together to create a data base, in addition to Registration of foals and a Name Registry, to track TBs from birth, through racing, retirement and beyond. May not save all of them, but it will prevent a significant number of them going to slaughter or ending up in kill pens where they can be victimized twice by fraudulent rescuers.
The Industry needs to step up. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Z Fans:
Just read that Imperative was eased in the Woodward, but he did walk off. Hope he’s OK. Love him; he’s one of Bernie’s boys. Love and Hugs, JB
