It was a pleasure to be able to spend time with Zenyatta and see her doing so well. She was looking so good and, most importantly, happy! It was especially great to visit with some of her longtime friends Claudia and Julio, who never missed a race. There was lots of joy to be shared, and of course a few carrots :)
We also were able to visit with Coz, and what a special experience that was. I have always wanted to sit atop Zenyatta, not even hoping to ride her, but never got the chance. There I was, with Isabela and Sergio‘s kind suggestions and help, riding Coz!! It was absolutely thrilling and such a joy…something I had never even dreamed!
He continues to do so well in his new life and they are very excited about his coming competition in the Thoroughbred Makeover this October 5-7. I am so hoping to be there and cheer him on. It is absolutely wonderful to see him soooo relaxed and happy and actually “jumping” in joy.

PLEASE! Someone tell us about what’s going on with Ziconic!!! Even if he is at the farm, How is he? Is he going to return to racing? Is he just languishing in a pasture with no career like Coz has? Was he injured? He is a beautiful horse, and had a lot of potential; he can’t be just forgotten. We saw him running with his mother, we saw him strong and muscular at an age when foals are a little skinny, bit not him. We heard from the farm how he loved to train and even ran in his sleep. We saw him dance like his mother, with his beautiful red coat gleaming. We saw that he had potential, but he can’t run his mother’s style, he is built more like his father. Through all this, we fell deeply in love with him! Please someone read this, have a heart, and let us know about him!! I, and I don’t know about others, are worried about him. If its because of the divorce and money matters, please don’t forget this beautiful living breathing animal, that is the son of your beloved Zenyatta, born on her birthday. There wasn’t even a mention of that; there was Zenyatta and Coz, but not Ziconic, even though he shares her birthday. Zenyatta and Coz, and the new filly get visits, but not Ziconic. I know you care for your horses, but Ziconic seems lost. PLEASE read this and respond!!! Thank-you!
Z13Rulz
Roberta I honestly don’t believe this website can report on Ziconic any further.
As much as I love him and wish we could see pictures, get updates, my gut tells me he is Jerry’s property and Jerry has shutdown the flow of information. At least until it is determined that his racing career is over.
I suspect David is shopping him around for a regional stallion career. If that falls through, then perhaps in 2019 he will be gelded and move on into the RRP like his brother CoZ.
Roberta Gonzalez
Thank-you for leaving the comment. It sounds like you could be right; Jerry was the one who named him, so with the separation of things, he probably is Jerry’s. It is so sad! He was my favorite, and I feel things weren’t handled right for him. What a waste!. I can only hope that he will be happy like Coz, and find his place. Maybe he would be a good cross country horse, or 3 day eventer. We can dream, can’t we?

Dear Sheena,
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful article/video. It is quite obvious that Ian Balding cared for Mill Reef, then and now. Very nice they named the race for him, too.
Exceptional horse deserving of the honor and the epitaph. The veterinary surgeon really did save Mill Reef — a brilliant job.
RIP brave boy. I am glad you got to have a retirement and to have offspring.

Congratulations to Great Britain on their team and individual gold at the WEG.Ros Canter won the individual gold on Allstar B and Sophie Wells has won gold in the para dressage.Well done allxx
Marshall (NC Broad)
Big Congratulations to team GB on their wins!! I wish I could have watched the dressage and the show jumping events, but I did enjoy the cross-country very much. Sorry that Florence rather “rained on the parade” though. The Blue Ridge is a lovely part of our state, and Virginia, too. It was nice to see Boyd Martin(?) and Phillip Dutton again, also. Boyd had a problem with the sailboat jump — he said it was his fault, not the horse. A class act!
Congrats to Ros Canter and Sophie Wells, too. ??
Hugs and Cheers

Due to issues with my computer I’ve gotten a bit behind with my posting.so this one may be a bit long and in some cases a bit late. FIRST, CONGRATULATIONS to COZ! Loved watching the replay. SECONDLY, I have to agree with Rulz13 that we may not be hearing about Ziconic. Hopefully someone has gotten the message that he’s not his Mama and will never run like she did. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t be re-trained HOPEFULLY he hasn’t been completely ruined. If its decided as with Coz that racing really isn.t his thing, a venue can be found that’s more to his liking and he can shine just as his brother. THIRDLY. Cross your fingers perhaps we may still hear about Z17. Who knows? Perhaps by now she has a proper name and is now residing at Mayberry Farm for her formal racehorse training. FINALLY, Good Luck to those who have been retired in their new careers. and RIP to those who have crossed the rainbow bridge both horse and human.

My Mom, two brothers and I rode out two hurricanes, Ike and Rita. When daylight came our homes were still standing but there were tall pines down everywhere. We couldn’t get off our property because the driveway was covered with trees. Within an hour three men we didn’t even know had cleared it completely. We met people from all over the US during the storms aftermath. We had no electricity for 30 days. There were more blue tarps on roofs than I could count. Americans can be depended upon in times of trouble. Prayers for all our friends in storm ravaged areas.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Vicki,
Nothing like a disaster to remind us just how good people can be. Thank goodness for all the volunteers from all over!
Thanks for your kind words and prayers for those who have lost so much.

Great pictures of Ann and Coz and of course, Queen Z.
There must be someone in the racing business that could give an update on Ziconic, how he is doing and what his future looks like. All of Queen’s Z’s foals are special to fans of the Mosses and our Queen Z.

The de Sousas have posted a video and new picture of Coz on face book. He just looks more handsome every day. Also, the think perhaps Ann might come to see Coz in his next show. They have been so good to keep us in the loop with Coz and his training. Thank goodness the Mosses picked them.

Dear Sheena,
Thanks for the Cinders story. What an awful thing to do, such cruelty. Glad that the treatment for her burns succeeded and that Cinders has a “fairy-tale ending”. Best wishes to her for a long, happy, healthy and well-loved life. <3 <3 <3
