Announcing The 2012 Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration

Second annual Zenyatta Celebration to welcome fans at the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Special Zenyatta seating section also available during Championships

Tickets on sale at Zenyatta Shop

ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2012) – Breeders’ Cup Ltd., along with Zenyatta owners Jerry and Ann Moss, announced today plans for the second annual Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta After-Party Celebration, to be held Championship Friday, Nov. 2, at Santa Anita Park’s Frontrunner restaurant. This year’s official event will be an exclusive evening full of Zenyatta fun following Friday’s race card and will benefit several equine and racing-related charities, including the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and The Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses (CANTER).

The Zenyatta After-Party Celebration will be from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., providing racegoers a relaxing environment to toast the day’s winners, celebrate the past and present of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, while enjoying a twilight, panoramic view of the historic racecourse from Frontrunner. Amenities include a California buffet and cash bar featuring cocktails, race replays from Friday’s Breeders’ Cup program, entertainment, and a chance to meet Zenyatta’s connections and other racing celebrities.

Scheduled appearance and autograph signing at the event will be with trainer John Shirreffs, Dottie Shirreffs, racing manager for the Moss Racing Stable and the voice of the Zenyatta Diary, and jockey Mike Smith. Smith will bring along some of his fellow jockeys and other racing celebrities to mingle with partygoers. The After-Party Celebration will also feature the auction of Zenyatta memorabilia, artwork and an all-expense-paid trip to see Zenyatta and her growing colt at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky.

After-Party Celebration tickets are $50 for admission only, or $95 for admission combined with the buffet. Tickets are available for sale today on a first-come basis at the Zenyatta Shop.

As an added benefit for “The Queen’s” most loyal fans, Premier Grandstand seating in the designated Zenyatta Section during the Breeders’ Cup World Championships is now available online at http://www.breederscup.com/tickets/grandstand-reserved or by calling 877-TIX4CUP (877-849-4287). Tickets are $150 for Friday and $200 for Saturday. Included with the special section tickets is a complimentary Autumn season Clubhouse pass to Santa Anita Park, as well as a unique Zenyatta souvenir.

“We are thrilled that the Zenyatta Celebration will once again be a highlight at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships,” said Jerry and Ann Moss. “Santa Anita Park holds many special memories for us as the site of some of Zenyatta’s finest racing accomplishments.”

“Santa Anita Park has rolled out the red carpet for international race-goers and especially Zenyatta fans as they prepare for another Breeders’ Cup World Championship,” said Robert Elliston, Breeders’ Cup Chief Operating Officer. “The Zenyatta After-Party Celebration will be a fabulous way to honor one of Breeders’ Cup’s most popular stars and also raise funds for industry-related causes.”

Throughout her extraordinary racing career, Zenyatta thrilled racing fans with jaw-dropping victories and heart-pounding finishes. However, it was her memorable Breeders’ Cup performances, including her victories in the 2008 Ladies’ Classic, the 2009 Classic and her incredible finish at Churchill Downs in the 2010 Classic, that sealed her stardom and ignited a fan frenzy that has transcended the sport and endeared this stunning mare to millions.

    YAY! Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Dottie & John, Team Z and BC2012 for giving all the Z Dumplings this exciting news! We have been waiting to see it and now we can finalize our plans for a huge Z Dumpling prance and dance. Thanks too for the heads up a little while ago from Z GF Auntie Judy JAG so I could buy my party and buffet tix. I’m there!

    I’ll keep my Fri/Sat race tickets in Section N but I know we’ll all be seeing each other as we run back and forth to the paddock and finish line. Don’t forget your Z Dumpling name tags. Wheeee!

        • I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can make it. The tickets are a bit expensive. We’ll see how our finances are in a couple of weeks before making the decision.
          Question: the 200.00 for Saturday, does that include tickets to the BC, seats, and the after party? And, is that per person?

      Found your post did everything you told me to do! But when I click the purple button my file folder comes up! I tried different files and found one called “connected” clicked that and this is what came up……”gif 1.9kb success” when I clicked that button it brings me to a box with a blue search button when I click that it brings me to strange websites!
      I’m thinking I need a certain program or file or something? I sent a msg to their e-mail address maybe they can help? I am sooooooo frustrated been working on this all last nite and again this am! Not giving up! I will keep trying!

    Another cause for celebration…

    A Birthday Poem for Diana Stuart
    (August 1, 2012)

    As a with-it 60’s California girl,
    Diana herself into life hurled.
    Now she jokes she was at the hub
    Of a special 4-H club—
    Horses, hotrods,
    Helicopters, and hombres with hot bods!
    First of course
    Came the horse.
    Already at ten
    She with her parents did attend
    Thoroughbred races
    At Santa Anita and Hollywood Park,
    And horse shows, mostly Arabian.
    As a pre-vet student at Cal Poly,
    She to the Arabian herd did tend
    And a draft-horse club start,
    And then,
    Good golly,
    Our dear lass
    In the California State Fair did contend
    Where she took up the traces
    Of a Belgian colt
    Just two years old
    And in state-wide competition
    Guided him through a rendition
    Which garnered first in the class—
    High hoof to them!
    In town she rode around
    In those days
    Of smoggy haze
    Like a Hollywood star
    In her blue first-generation ’68 Camaro,
    Fast as an arrow,
    Yet designed not just for the straight and narrow
    But to also take her ’round life’s curves.
    Together they went far, yea, VERY far–
    In fact, if memory serves,
    Three hundred fifty thousand miles!
    All of them filled with “See America” smiles
    And all of it done
    With only the ONE
    Original engine—
    Just imagine!
    Diana was California born and bred
    And there would remain, it did seem,
    But one of the curves ’round which she careened
    Was, I fear,
    A change in career
    From horse to flying machine:
    At Cal Poly she had it made in the shade,
    But she took to the sky
    And rose up on high
    To hover, as I’ve heard,
    Like a hummingbird,
    Thanks to a helicopter’s whirling blades.
    She does relate
    How, as those blades above her did twirl,
    They our dear girl
    Did intoxicate
    With a new dream,
    And this exciting scheme
    Would bring also a change of state
    As it to offers from Sperry Aviation led,
    And Diana couldn’t resist ’em!
    Thus she in ’71 forsook LA
    And San Francisco Bay
    And in their stead
    With her loyal “Blue Beast”
    Drove southeast
    To the Arizona desert land
    To try her hand
    At marketing and sales
    Of heli flight control systems.
    She can tell you tales
    Of giving many a demonstration
    In cities and towns
    Our hemisphere around,
    From up in freezing Barrow
    To down in steaming Guatemala City.
    It’s a pity
    That in the late 80’s civil aviation
    Did collapse,
    And alas
    ‘Twas the ruination
    Of Diana’s chosen path.
    But as you know, nothing could stop her,
    So after said phase
    Of the helicopter,
    Diana, nobody’s fool,
    Returned to school,
    Again casting her gaze
    About for useful ways
    Her mind to use,
    And she did choose
    For her MA
    The applied biological science field,
    A very wise decision,
    For I’m glad to say
    Those studies her did yield
    A great position
    Where she can do a great deal
    The flora and fauna bounty
    Of Maricopa County
    From destruction to shield.
    Now you, dear reader, may
    At this point an objection raise
    And say,
    “Hey, what about ‘los hombres’?
    Did you about them forget?”
    Well, I regret
    I have not much ’bout them to relay
    Except that there were hubbies along the way,
    Numbering two,
    Though there’s none these days;
    But what’s a gal to do?
    Before I conclude
    I wish to praise
    All the work in kitty rescue
    That our dear Diana undertakes.
    The number of strays
    For whom she, with her heart of gold,
    A loving home makes
    Would you amaze–
    I’ll just hint, it’s quite a few!
    Additionally,
    She does trap, spay/neuter and release—
    Her valiant efforts for felines never do cease!
    She’s also active in equine rescue;
    She’s adopted an OTTB,
    Hot Under Pressure, known now as “Hoot,”
    A handsome boy to behold!
    No one who him does see
    Will dispute
    That Hoot is really cute!
    Diana in addition,
    Without seeking recognition,
    Writes to Congress
    Horse slaughter to redress,
    Signs many an equine welfare petition,
    And targets with her verbal ammunition
    The BLM’s abuse
    Of the wild horse and burro–
    For animal abusers she has absolutely no use.
    By the way,
    In closing let me say
    That Diana parted company
    With her cherished Camaro
    Back in 1993,
    But, a rescuer to the core,
    She found her Blue Beast
    A loving new home
    With a mechanic artiste
    Who did the car restore,
    And remarkably
    Diana those two still does see
    As they together
    Through the neighborhood roam,
    And today
    The Blue Beast is worth even more
    Than ever
    Before!
    Hip, hip, hooray!

    Happy birthday, Diana, and many, many happy returns!

    Wow, sounds like the Mosses have planned a great party for all the lucky attendees, wish I could be there to meet all of you, but I was fortunate to be at the first one and had a super time! Meeting the Mosses, Sheriffs, and dear Mikie was so special, and seeing the unveiling of Zee’s portrait was magical. Met lots of nice people, many dumplings, and even a couple of reporters from Germany who just loved our girl!! Will be with you all in spirit and anyone who has second thoughts about going, put them aside and go……you sure will be glad you spent the money!

    Happy Birthday to dear Diana Stewart, you are certainly a very accomplished person, and I hope you have many more happy days to come.

        • Pati. Every Starbucks has WIFI. They are practically everywhere. Quebec however is a huge province. If you have an iPad, you can go with 3 or 4G, which means access anywhere.

      You can get tickets for the party alone, for $50. Go sit in the seat you already bought, watch the race, then go to the party. The party is after the racing is done for the day, anyway.

    Woo Hoo!! Thanks to the Mosses and all of Z’s connections and everyone involved in planning this party. I’ve got my ticket, and it sounds like a great time at “the great race place.” Just wish the trip to see Zenny and Prince was a raffle rather than an auction. Can’t imagine who will have enough $$$$ to win this one! Is it November yet?

    Absolutely thrilled that Zenyatta will be celebrated again. There are no more generous owners than Jerry and Ann Moss. Frosting on her cake will be appearances by Team Z. What fun to mingle, after watching great racing at the
    Great Race Place, with John, Dottie, Mike and his fellow jockeys. I will be with all of you in spirit as I watch history being made again at Breeders’ Cup 2012 on TV.
    I’ve missed most posts on the forum lately… so… anyone…can you tell me if Zenyatta’s statue in the paddock across form John Henry be unveiled then?
