Second annual Zenyatta Celebration to welcome fans at the 2012 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
Special Zenyatta seating section also available during Championships
ARCADIA, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2012) – Breeders’ Cup Ltd., along with Zenyatta owners Jerry and Ann Moss, announced today plans for the second annual Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta After-Party Celebration, to be held Championship Friday, Nov. 2, at Santa Anita Park’s Frontrunner restaurant. This year’s official event will be an exclusive evening full of Zenyatta fun following Friday’s race card and will benefit several equine and racing-related charities, including the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and The Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses (CANTER).
The Zenyatta After-Party Celebration will be from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., providing racegoers a relaxing environment to toast the day’s winners, celebrate the past and present of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, while enjoying a twilight, panoramic view of the historic racecourse from Frontrunner. Amenities include a California buffet and cash bar featuring cocktails, race replays from Friday’s Breeders’ Cup program, entertainment, and a chance to meet Zenyatta’s connections and other racing celebrities.
Scheduled appearance and autograph signing at the event will be with trainer John Shirreffs, Dottie Shirreffs, racing manager for the Moss Racing Stable and the voice of the Zenyatta Diary, and jockey Mike Smith. Smith will bring along some of his fellow jockeys and other racing celebrities to mingle with partygoers. The After-Party Celebration will also feature the auction of Zenyatta memorabilia, artwork and an all-expense-paid trip to see Zenyatta and her growing colt at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky.
After-Party Celebration tickets are $50 for admission only, or $95 for admission combined with the buffet. Tickets are available for sale today on a first-come basis at the Zenyatta Shop.
As an added benefit for “The Queen’s” most loyal fans, Premier Grandstand seating in the designated Zenyatta Section during the Breeders’ Cup World Championships is now available online at http://www.breederscup.com/tickets/grandstand-reserved or by calling 877-TIX4CUP (877-849-4287). Tickets are $150 for Friday and $200 for Saturday. Included with the special section tickets is a complimentary Autumn season Clubhouse pass to Santa Anita Park, as well as a unique Zenyatta souvenir.
“We are thrilled that the Zenyatta Celebration will once again be a highlight at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships,” said Jerry and Ann Moss. “Santa Anita Park holds many special memories for us as the site of some of Zenyatta’s finest racing accomplishments.”
“Santa Anita Park has rolled out the red carpet for international race-goers and especially Zenyatta fans as they prepare for another Breeders’ Cup World Championship,” said Robert Elliston, Breeders’ Cup Chief Operating Officer. “The Zenyatta After-Party Celebration will be a fabulous way to honor one of Breeders’ Cup’s most popular stars and also raise funds for industry-related causes.”
Throughout her extraordinary racing career, Zenyatta thrilled racing fans with jaw-dropping victories and heart-pounding finishes. However, it was her memorable Breeders’ Cup performances, including her victories in the 2008 Ladies’ Classic, the 2009 Classic and her incredible finish at Churchill Downs in the 2010 Classic, that sealed her stardom and ignited a fan frenzy that has transcended the sport and endeared this stunning mare to millions.

Wow! I am completely over the moon! I went to Marlene Dodge’s website, bemoaning the fact that due to outside circumstances, my donation woul have to be small. To my amazement, I found that the horses are safe. Thank you, Zenyatta supporters!!
They are all beauties.

I just placed my bets as well and it was accepted.
Terry, I had no problem. Click on the Whitney, it’ll give you the field with added info, look to the right where it says, place your wager. Win Place, Show and exacta. Once, you do that, go to the bottom and click submit. Wait a few seconds and it will tell you if you were successful.

Yes, I had to “bug” the KHP to get it repaired. It isn’t maintained by the park because it’s owned by the phone company. At least the phone company was nice enough to go out and fix it. However, it might be taken down is the “word” I got :-( Until then, let’s continue to enjoy CIGAR the Champ ♥!

I really encourage each of you to read the FAQ under the tab at the top of the page How To Play. We have up to 10 minutes prior to the race to make our selection. That may help us make better elections. Or if you are sure about your choice go for it when the site updates. There are prizes to be won. haha good luck to all

Hi Team Z,
I have a BIG request.
Will you help the Fans of Our Queen Zenyatta be part of the party?
A live feed from the party to the Queens web site would be absolutely the best.
Then those of us that can’t be there in person can still participate in all the fun.
We love Zenyatta and it would mean the world to all of us if you could hook this up for us.
Love an adoring fan Sue

Hi all,
Been busy watching Olympics. The dressage yesterday was wonderful, beautiful horses, fantastic riders! Mrs Romneys horse is a beautiful bay and did very well, but the Euros are always at the top.
BIG NEWS! Just read in the TT that Michael Phelps is planning on teaming up with his coach to buy a RACE HORSE (yippee) and put him with Bob Baffert to train. Maybe this will draw more interest to the sport.
Hope you guys do well with your fantansy racing club, still thinking about whether I should join or not. I’m rooting for Flat Out or Ron The Greek to Win.

Sue. Rafalca is very beautiful. She did well. It takes a lot of concentration by the horse to do this sport. The commentators yesterday said that mares are generally best at dressage. Z seemed to have some of these dance steps down well.
AJ from CA
I keep missing the dressage – what channel/time (pacific) is it? Glad MPhelps has his eye on the thoroughbred business. Seems lately that more younger celebrities are getting involved which is fabulous! Afterall it is the oldest sport around, right?

Would someone please post the link again and explain again (in very simple terms) what the Zentastic Team thing is all about. Is it just for wagering or ????? Is there some advantage to being on a team (either for the person or the team)?

Dear Sandy:
The “capping game” is just for fun. You can wager fake $20.00 one of four ways: $20.00 to Win, Place or Show on a horse of your choosing or an Exacta Box of two horses of your choosing. They have to finish either 1st or 2nd.

Monarchos ‘up and stable’ after colic surgery
By Glenye Cain Oakford Daily Racing Form 08/02/2012 12:02 PM
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Monarchos, the 2001 Kentucky Derby winner, is “up and stable” after undergoing colic surgery Tuesday night at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington.
The surgery, first reported by Paulick Report, is the 14-year-old stallion’s second colic surgery in 16 months. In April 2011, he underwent surgery to correct a twisted bowel and recovered to return to the breeding shed at Nuckols Farm in Midway, Ky.
Nuckols Farm employee Chestene McDaniel said Thursday morning that Hagyard had transferred Monarchos from its surgical facility to its medicine facility and that the horse was on his feet and doing well.
Monarchos won the Kentucky Derby for owner John Oxley and trainer John Ward in the race’s second-fastest time of 1:59.97. He also won the Florida Derby, finished second in the Wood Memorial, and ran third in the Belmont Stakes that year. He is the sire of 2009 champion female sprinter Informed Decision and Grade 2 winner Win Willy. His runners have earned more than $14.5 million.
Jim Squires bred Monarchos from the Dixieland Band winner Regal Band.

Switch Update from Sports Web
Out at Del-Mar, and also on Saturday, multiple stakes winning mare Switch will run in the Grade 1, $300,000 Clement Hirsch Stakes for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles.
Switch, who certainly looks ready to run a big race judging by her quick six furlong work (1:11 flat) last Sunday, is coming off a win in the A Gleam Handicap at Hollywood Park at seven furlongs.

Here are today’s redneck jokes. You might be a redneck if you have to wipe your feet before leaving your home. You might be a redneck if your wardrobe revolves around the color of your teeth. You might be a redneck if the only framed item on your wall is your eviction notice. You might be a redneck if the most advanced piece of equipment in your home is the toenail clipper. You might be a redneck if you were born with a hangover.

Can anyone tell me why Monarchos has had two colic problems in 16 months? Is this a fairly common problem in horses, and what causes it? thanks.
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
He is older right???
When they get older, GI track slows down and they colic more, needs to have special food like alfalpha or something like it to keep GI tract working normally.
