Happy Monday!
Check out these new photos from Alys—we think they’re something special! We hope you’re all staying warm through this especially chilly weather. Zenyatta has the folks at Lane’s End watching out for her during the cold winter months, but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy frolicking in a blizzard or two!
Enjoy!

Dear Sandy Get well soon Big Boy! Real Man flu bless him the equine 2 virus is the more severe usually takes 2 or 3 weeks to recover. Hope Mum, Dad and Auntie Becky are taking good care of our Boy Love and hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. I would not worry about equine man flu. There is a reason why Hovis’ Mum is unconcerned. Man flu is the kind of flu that men assume in order to get attention, especially from women. In Hovis’ case, he probably is looking for sympathy from Mum or Foxy. Moosie might try it with Annie, although its success with that career oriented super mare is doubtful. The Fly would not bother with man flu. He gets enough attention from bites.

Dear Max:
Too funny and very reassuring. Thank you. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Max – his Mum indicated that he’s been seen by his vet, and on FB she talked about having to give him some type of injections so this didn’t sound (to me anyway) like just some sort of attention getting ploy.
Max
Poor Hovis. Injections of any kind are no fun. This may be like the real flu thing. We will see what he has to say tomorrow.

Get well, Hovis. Poor baby.
Keep us updated, Sandy. Thanks, hugs!

After Barboro lost his gallent fight I swore never to fall in love with a racehorse again.
But then, the big girl came into my live and I was hooked. She was and is a game changer for thousands including me.

Seven years gone. His full brother Pennmarydel looks almost identical to him.
I too wore off the horses after he left but Rachel and Zenyatta pulled me back in.

Have so many holes in my heart, thank goodness the other champs have filled them in, somewhat.
Randy
It certainly doesn’t seem like seven years already. In the Preakness when he broke through the starting gate, is it assumed that he actually sustained his injury then? I know he was cleared by for the race by a vet but when I saw him burst through the gate I had such a forboding feeling, like “oh no, this can’t be good.” I haven’t researched it but I can’t help feeling that maybe he hurt himself then and it was made worse by running that day.

Alys—Beautiful photos, as always! Thanks so much for sharing them with us. We never fail to get a warm feeling seeing a happy, playful Zenny… And at 7 degrees (here in the Hudson Valley) that’s saying a lot!

Dear Judy, Terry, Ann
I’m about 3 Hours South of Atlanta but we got really bad icy weather here too. We got a few snow flakes. North Florida even got some
Can you all believe that mess in Atlanta. They seem to be blaiming the weather chanel and the meteorologists Just crazy. I heard the weather chanel warnings that they posted. They gave Atlanta plenty of warning for what was coming.
Whenever I have gone to Kentucky a few times I have gotten stuck in traffic up there. Just sat on the highway. On good days its seemed really bad to me.

Dear Sheena,
Hi there. I didn’t get to respond to you this morning as Steve was hogging the computer working from home. Poor Ray being made fun of for the way he talks. I think he’s utterly charming. I did see the beautiful Rainbow Bridge pic. Just beautiful. My heart goes out to Nikko’s owner. He’s such a handsome dog. Like you all my kids have four legs and a tail. They are absolutely our family. I would give anything to see Boo. Would have run to OC had I known he was there. Normally he’s in San Francisco. That’s about 9 hours away. Won’t be seeing him there! Today was the 7th anniversary of the great racehorse Barbaro crossing the Rainbow Bridge after such a valiant fight. RIP Barbaro. I think it’s very early in the morning in Wales. I’ll be going to bed before too long. Talk to you tomorrow. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Waiting tests our grit and faith, and anything else we have on the line. We activate every nerve in us to move, to do something-and then we wait. But if we wait a little longer with patience and endurance, we will know what to do. During this period, we can stir up the gifts that are in us, encourage ourselves to be strong and calm, to find a calm center in the midst of all the whirling debris around us. When we can wait with u li he li s di (joy), it connects us to the right things, puts us in the right place to receive. Joy is not of the emotions but of the spirit, and it can bubble up and grow in our weakest moments.
We have learned that though there are many papers in Washington upon which are written promises to pay us for our lands, no white man seems to remember them.

Terrible yesterday. I even heard around Panama City, Fl even got a few snow flakes. They were advising yesterday to stay off the roads unless it was an emergency. How is it in Texas? Hope you all are fine.

I always think it must be really difficult to transact business between Europe and the US with all that time difference. Your day is ending, our’s is just starting. LOVE Boo and Buddy. Such cutie pies, and SO popular. Would love to snuggle with Zeus, Zoey and Bailey. Very lovable. Will look for the Jack Russell video. Barbaro had such heart and I know St. Nick did as well. We always want a happy ending but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Frankel’s babies are just so gorgeous. LOVE them! Happy Thursday to you. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Thanks for this article! I really enjoyed reading about how the match was made.
Also, it is great to know they have Compelling’s Montjeu filly in addition to Frankel’s colt. All the very best wishes to all of them, owners included. Nice to see another view of the new baby in the second photo, too.

Pioneerof the Nile featured in Pedigree Weekly in The Blood-Horse
Six years ago, Pioneerof the Nile—a leading juvenile of 2008—served notice that he would be a serious contender on the 2009 Triple Crown trail by overcoming traffic problems to win the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. II). He went on to win the San Felipe Stakes (gr. II) and Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) before finishing second to Mine That Bird in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

hi zters :)
Your Life Has a Purpose – Always
My Grandpa flew from far away to see us for Christmas. He’s 93 years old and when my Mom asked him about the secret to aging well he said this, “Don’t worry about it. It only happens one day at a time.”
His words echoed in my mind and heart. And I realized there are two kinds of people: Those who see life as a process of getting “over the hill” and then going into a decline. Then the second, like my Grandpa, see life as a continual climb with heaven at the pinnacle. “Blessed are those whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage…They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.” (Ps 84:5-7)
If you belong to Jesus, you are never over the hill. You are created to go from strength to strength. And, yes, your body will weaken and ultimately fail. But the core of who you are does not have to. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Cor 4:16).

NO worries about Hovis???? Sheesh! Max must be in the same league as his unsympathetic Mum. Poor boy – hope he recovers quickly. Just glad that his sense of humor is intact (“teeth chattering like castanets in a tumble dryer” LOL)
Max
For sure. Hovis needs to “man up” like his Mum says. You’d never see Big D looking for any sympathy. The Fly runs like a demon, as the announcer said, even with a sore hoof, and bites his exercise jockey too. LOL!
