Bluegrass Brunch And Bubbles – Saturday, September 24th 10 am – 12 pm

Zenyatta is happy to support the Secretariat Center in their upcoming event. Including a Lane’s End Tour Package featuring Zenyatta.

Join us for a fun morning at the Secretariat Center filled with bluegrass-themed brunch, a great mimosa and bloody Mary bar, a world-class silent auction, meet the OTTBs, demonstrations, guest speakers, contests, giveaways, and so much more! Help support the aftercare and reschooling efforts of our adoptable Thoroughbreds.  Meet some of the owners and trainers who entrust their horses to our care and chat with some of our previous adopters who love their Secretariat Center graduates.  Come to eat, drink, support, shop, meet, and mingle but leave with artwork, trips, tickets, and experiences you won’t soon forget.

Check out the Silent Auction featuring racing memorabilia, trips and experiences in Kentucky and abroad, gift certificates from local businesses, equine artwork, and more! Bidding is live now at will continue till 12pm on Sept. 24th!

      Dear Judy and any who are interested,
      I entered a reply to Judy’s post on the previous blog entry (September 20?)
      There is a link to a Bloodhorse article about Success Rate, a 12 year old racehorse. He is being retired after he won his 100th race! His owners/trainer will decide what his new task might be, but they love him and plan to take good care of him. They say he looks more like a 5 year old than a 12 year old. Congrats to a hard-working warrior!

    Sounds like the big event would be lots of fun. Go Zilka Go! Very glad to see she had a work out. Big fire now 14% contained and more rain on the way. Also special equipment has been brought in to work on the firelines to keep it contained. Sleep tight and have pleasant dreams of your favorite horse flying down the stretch

    Happy Friday everyone! Our boy Hovey laments not being allowed to watch the Queen’s funeral and then was subjected to being in “the school” at the same time as Barbie Boy and Mini Mum. He was restrained (mostly by Mother and not his sense of kindness and fair play) from taking any adverse actions – this time. He’s off to start preparing for Your Horse is Alive 😊

    Happy Friday everyone. I hope any Zsters in Florida are safe. Sending prayers and best wishes to them and to those in Georgia and the Carolinas as this dreadful storm continues to spread destruction of all types.
    This week’s Hovey lament concerns the highly changeable and unpredictable autumn weather. We can all relate 😩. He continues to prepare for Your Horse is Alive and the launch of his next book.

      He is a regular wordsmith, isn’t he? Mum does let him get away with a lot — those “Don Rickles-type” insults at her expense for example. LOL!

        Richie is just so gorgeous and so talented.

        If Leon remains his regular rider, hope he takes care with the way he rides him for Richie’s sake and for all the other horses and riders. Putting everyone at risk is just inexcusable. Racing is risky enough without deliberate reckless riding.

    I keep rooting for Rich Strike to really show his stuff. He is very talented and fast. He ran a good race and came so close for the second time. Hot Rod Charlie just barely outdid him. It was a good race.

    Rich Strike’s jockey was suspended for lugging in so close to HRC! The picture, on Bloodhorse, you can clearly see the foul that happened. Very dangerous riding for both riders and horses.

      I read that had Richie prevailed, he would have most likely been disqualified because of his jockey’s ride.

      Luckily no horses or riders were injured. Disappointed in Leon.

        All of that wasted energy in riding like that. Very disappointed in Sonny. Then to claim a slipping saddle…wow, so disrespectful of your team.
        What a race! Richie is the Real Deal and Charlie is just one of the best ever!

          Wasted energy indeed — Rich might very well have won if kept in a straight path. I guess it could be the “race riding” effect currently seen too much and used by the top-level.
          Not good. Hope Sonny learned from this mistake. Glad no one got hurt.

    33 years ago Equine Heaven received one of the GREATS…Secretariat. You were phenomenal and we will never forget you! RIP, sweetheart.

    Love Richie and Charlie. Too bad Leon does not know how to ride properly.

    Judy,loved the video you sent of the wild horses. We need to protect them from the BLM, otherwise known as the Bureau of Livestock and Mining.

    I also had trouble getting in for a while.
