Happy Thursday!
Team Z is excited about tomorrow’s Zenyatta Celebration, and we hope you are too! Here are a few details and important announcements about the event:
• TVG announcer Frank Mirahmadi will be the emcee of the Party.
• Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg will host the Live Auction.
• We will have a Zenyatta Merchandise Tent set up in the Paddock tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, featuring many new Zenyatta merchandise items.
• Acclaimed equine artists Fred Stone (“Born to Greatness”) and Jaime Corum (“Queen’s Dance” and her newest Zenyatta release, “Breeders’ Cup Gold”) will be signing at the tent thoughout both days beginning at 10:00 am.
• Zenyatta jockey Mike Smith, trainer John Shirreffs, and racing manager Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs are also expected to make signing appearances on Friday and Saturday mornings.
Party ticket pick-up:
• Remember, no After-Party tickets were mailed. All are to be picked up on Friday.
• We encourage all Zenyatta After-Party participants to pick up their tickets at the tent beginning 3:00 pm on Friday. This will allow them to avoid the will-call rush at the Frontrunner entrance immediately after the last race.
• After-Party online reservations will close tomorrow, however tickets will remain available at the door, while they last.
See you soon!

Dear Z fans,
Breeders Cup Juvenile, Shanghai Bobby, loses focus, watch him get the lead,
prick his ears, and start looking around. Great whip action by Rosie, getting his
attention back, he re breaks and all heart coming to the wire.

Interesting Rosie felt she wanted the others to “come back” to her, so Bobby would respond again.

Dear Vicki B
Riding and training strategy is so interesting. I guess when some get next to
Another horse they get more competative. Whereas Calidaposcopio, likes to
Run detached from the field for the first mile and then blast by everyone.
Hope you all had great fun and will be calling the SA gift shop for those new
Gifts. Love the shirt you described.

Lady of Shamrock
Plum Pretty
are two I remember off the top of my head right now.
This makes me sad. We are so very fortunate to be kept up to date on Zenyatta and Stonestreet does a great job of reporting on RA.
For all the others they are just broodmares.

Janet,
A few more in the Keeneland sale that caught my eye

Just wondering, with Havre De Grace being Hip # 76 and the sale starting a 5pm Eastern. Don’t remember how long they go, but I think they might get to her tomorrow night.

Hi Peggy,
Is there a way to view that sale like with Keeneland’s sale?
Janet Newman

If you go to the FasigTipton website you can get their live feed
of the auction.
http://www.fasigtipton.com/
I can also find it via Bloodhorse .com Hope this helps.
Yes I have been reading the Keeneland catalog.
My White Corvette the dam of Stardom Bound caught my eye since she was sold in 2008 and is up again.
Samantha Nicole full sister to Rachel Alexandra also in.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Hi Marty, Hi Janet, I know so many horses up for sale.. I am just tring to come up with some idea to keep some of them here.
Wish Brad Kelly that just got Calumet Farm could buy maybe some and put them at Calumet Farm. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a good new history written for that farm. Wish he would buy Havre De Grace, but seems as if he is buying racing prospects. What about these beautiful Mares.
Marty I am going to watch on Fasig Tipton’s site. You can click into it and get the live streaming feed. Or you could last year. Hope its up again this year.
Marty R / Colorado
Thanks Janet and Peggy, I will give the Fasig Tipton website a try. Marty R.

Dear Sign,
I was absolutely blown away by the crow hopping display by the handsome, Shack!!!
I believe his groom won an award for having him looking so fine.Hard work and such pride, love those folks.
The BC races were all so wonderful and beautiful.
Did you hear Ms. Donna brothers call the Japanese horse….a big brat?!! The camera then scanned over to him and he gave the BIG stare down….as if saying, you talking about me. The guys are such actors and the girls are there for business!!!!
I see my Zagora is going for sale…bummer. Lottery please. I would put her in my barn in a minute, she is tops, great manners.
Excited to read some first hand thoughts on the great BC for 2012,it was fun to watch!!!
My mute button is broken….thank you Gray Goose! I’m sickin the Saratoga Goose on you.
Marty R / Colorado
Ann,
After Zagora won her race, her owner said he might rethink putting her in the sale. He referred to her jockey, sorry, can’t remember who right now, as saying she still has some races left in her. So, maybe she will be pulled out of the sale to race some more. Hooves crossed. Yes, I like her, too. Marty R.
Signofthetimes
Dear Ann,
Shack should get the professional crow hoppers award, HaHa!!!
And Shanghai Bobby the ” DAH WHERE DID THE ALL GO” award!!
It was so funny when his ears pricked up and he started looking around
Wish they would pull Zagora, Chad Brown has done such a great job training her and she is so talented.
Did not see Donna with Trailblazer, he tried to kick down his stall Friday night, too funny about those looks. Horses are soooo funny if you really pay attention to what they are saying!!!!
Barbara Brayton
We watched the races on Saturday, and I also got home on Friday in time to see the Ladies Classic. Great races, and I even got a few winners.
If I never see another Grey Goose Cherry Noir commercial, it will be too soon. AND our local NBC affiliate decided to show news during the first half hour of the Classic. Imagine that.
Marty R / Colorado
Barbara,
Where do you live, if you don’t mind? My NBC station in Denver did the same thing so I was going between Cal Racing on the computer and checking in on the tv to see if I could actually see the race in “full screen.” That was the most exercise I had all during the BC races.
I so agree about the Grey Goose commercials. Did love the breeding farm ads, though. Marty R.
sheena.davies(wales)
dear sign the sun is out here today hoofray!!!thanks for the video of wise dan he’s really gorgeous but am sure frankel would have beaten him but then I’m biased!!!! I do hope havre de grace gets to stay in the US as you said her owner only has racing stock wonder if coolmore will do any shopping??Iread what you said about lasix which is’nt used over here although horses bleed here too we lost a wonderful gold cup winner best mate in 2005 he had a bleed in training and had some time off but sadly died in a race at exeter of a heart attack it was very sad great news about goldie glad she’s wellHOPE they’ll keep us informed!! the grand national was 4 and a half miles long but they’ve shortened it now by a furlong to try and stop the charge at the 1st fence when you think of what red rum did in the 70s 3wins 2 seconds!!! hugs sheena
Signofthetimes
Dear Sheena,
I also think Frankel would have probably beaten Wise Dan, but maybe a little more
Competition for him. Guess Moonlight Cloud did not like turning and William Buick got
The Fugue boxed in. Why he went to the inside instead of outside who knows. She is absolutely gorgeous and very stately. Hope she comes back. I guess being a medical
Person Lasix is used all the time, all you have to do is give more water for them to drink.
I imagine some of them don’t tolerate the fluid loss, so their trainers could give smaller amount or none, not ban it. Sorry to hear about the UK experience with bleeding, too.
I think now you will get more information about Goldi, so keep us posted. Sounds like
Her nerves of steel on the track have softened to motherhood. Wonder if she lets Freddy be more affectionate with her now ? Oh my, 4 miles plus, very grueling!! Amazing Red Rum victories. Chasers really have huge hearts. Jethro soooo loved to jump and he could have been a Jumper, but we wanted to be able to ride him for many years instead of a few. Jumping is hard on their bodies. Hope you have a great jump season!!!
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club
Dear Sheena,
Maybe William Buick did not know when you go to the inside in the US, the jockey’s will box you in. Seems to be a standard strategy. Have not notice it
much in international races as the courses seem much wider and have winder
turns.
I think the tight turns at Santa Anita may not be appealing for the Euro’s either.
Felt sad for Fame and Glory, with the blinkers to keep the dirt out of his face,
Adian did that to So You Think when he ran in the BCC, and he did not like
the dirt at all. His jockey said after the first furlong he could tell he hated the surface and pulled him up.
We had a couple of horses by Kittens Joy at Royal Ascot this year, the rolling
hills got them, did not have enough stamina.
I guess the real talented can over come these differences, like Goldikova, she sooo loved the tight turns at Santa Anita and even won at Churchill Downs a very different track that Santa Anita and a lot of horses do not like to run their.
Shari Voltz / Ohio
Hi Everyone this Mrs. Voltz and Homeroom 215-217. I wanted to tell everyone that a few of the children (because I talk about Zenyatta) said they watched her win the Breeder’s Cup. I thought that was so cute. I had to explain again how she is a mommy now and not racing. They said they were sure she won on Saturday : )
I started the class today showing a couple of Zenyatta’s videos to get everyone quiet. Boy does that work. I mean who does not want to look at her. I also showed Baby Z getting his bath. I have my projector up because we are watching some government videos explaining voting : )
We are still involved with the Peppermint Pal Project and following Brown Almighty. We are so proud that he went to the Breeder’s Cup.
We are following El Vino and Mistletoe. Cynthia is El Vino’s voice. We sent him a gift box. I have made contact with Mistletoe’s Trainer at Beulah Park in Ohio. Mistletoe is doing so much better there. She won her last race by 9 1/2 lengths.
I just thought I would catch everyone up on my class. I love Zenyatta and always will. I am sending Hugs and Kisses to My Z Family plus Zenny, Shari XXXOOO

Hi Shari and Homeroom 215-217….Brown Almighty is a wonderful animal….watched his race and he basically got “mugged” shortly after the start…he will be a power in the spring when he grows into himself a little more…..I too am keeping track of Madame M…she won impressively last time….just saw that Hansen will be at Ashford in Kentucky so maybe he will be visitable ….
they all try so hard to always do their best….
hope you and all the children have a wonderful day

Barbara Wood (Texas)
Hello Dumplings–\To all of you who could not make it, you were missed! It was great to put so many faces with names. You will never guess what happened to Sandy in NE Ohio and me at the Z-party. After we took the pictures and got the autographs, someone came and evidenly cleaned the table area and must have thrown our programs away! Oh, well, at least we still have our pictures and memories, even if the sight line to the actual races wasn’t very good. I’m going to carve out 7 hours to sit and watch the whole broadcast! Then I will understand more of what I “saw”.
Praying for all t=in the northeast who have had damage/power loss. It is a real mess, even worse than Katrina, I think, as far as property damage goes.
I agree with all of you who are lamenting the sale of our great horses. We want to love them and follow them always and not lose track. Hugs to all.
Signofthetimes
Dear Barbara,
Sounds like you had a great time, being there sounds like sooo much fun and now the
Videos will have even more meaning. Thanks for sharing.

I agree Barbara, I am also working my way through the videos, to see a lot of what I missed, being there. Being there in person, some things are better, but some just blows by.
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
Barbara W. ; Gee Wilikers!! Sorry your programs were taken away off the table.
I left our table to do a few purchases of Zenyatta’s, when I came back, the balance of my food was gone. But, rather it be food than the program!
I have missed so much here and I hope your move has gone well and that your horse you love is now 100%.

As a Kentuckian, gotta comment on all the Kentucky breds who won in BC races. Weren’t they great? Must be the wonderful bluegrass and the limestone.
As all of you, hate to see the mares go. I love Grace Hall and hope she stays here in the USA. Perhaps Lanes End or Three Chimneys would be a nice place for her.
I know it is a business but as poor as I am, I would hang on to a HOY even if I had to stable her in my kitchen.

I agree! I don’t think I could ever sell any horse. That’s why I’m not rich, I guess.

Sounds like all had a good time that attended the BC. It was
something. I have to say NBC knows how to muck up a broadcast.
I don’t think I will be able to look at Grey Goose Cherry Noir either.
I have now watched the Zenyatta on HRTV 5 times and I cry
everytime. Tears make it very hard to bring the TV into focus dagnabit!
Have errands to run before the Fasig-Tipton sale, so I best be putting the

Hansen retired to Ashford Stud
By The Sports Network Posted on Monday, 11.05.12
Champion colt Hansen has been officially retired from racing and will stand at Ashford Stud. The 3-year-old had suffered an injury over the summer.
Hansen, the 2011 champion 2-year-old colt, tore a tendon in his left front leg, which prevented him from running in the Travers Stakes.
The winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Hansen closes his career with five wins in nine starts for $1.8 million. This year, he won the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct sandwiched between second-place results in the Holy Bull and Blue Grass Stakes. In addition, he won the Iowa Derby by 10- lengths and in his final start, he finished fourth in the West Virginia Derby as the 3-5 favorite.
“Tapit has already proven himself a remarkable stallion in his relatively short career to date and we’re delighted to have secured his best son Hansen who is a very good looking horse,” said Ashford Director Of Sales Charlie O’Connor. “Together with Uncle Mo and Lookin at Lucky we now have the last three Eclipse Award-winning juveniles here at Ashford on a roster that also includes 2011 champion sires Giant’s Causeway and Scat Daddy.”

Hi Zensters. It sounds like you all had a blast at the BC. Great races, I felt horrible for Questing though, thought she had broke down or something. Thank goodness, just an eye injury. Speedy recovery, girl!
How about Wise Dan, Wow!!! Shanghai Bobby was funny and the way he dug back in and fight, was amazing. I thought for sure that MMM was going to catch Fort Larned on the last jump. Those two put on a show and just pulled away from the rest of the field.

I hope so too, but I am afraid at that price she probably headed overseas some place! I saw the list of all the girls that are listed for sale, and it is so sad because they live the US after giving us the best years of their racing careers and then we never hear about them. If we don’t keep any of our great racing mares who are we gonna breed our great stallion’s with?
My thoughts and prayers that HDG and many others stay put in the US
