Denise in St Louis; THANK YOU for this link. The blue bandage must not be anything to worry about. American Pharioh is simply awesome. He may not be the stand-out flashy horse with beautiful markings, but he is a beautiful horse! I also watched the interview with Victor right after the video of AP. I really think Victor is a humble sweet man.

For those who have a wait-and-see attitude it is more wait than see. Then they claim it is better to not expect anything than to be disappointed.
These people build the same mental images-but they see nothing. Being able to see in the spirit is as necessary as having a blueprint to build a house. The details need to be filled in, finally coming to that completed picture-so vivid and clear that it must come into being.
Anything we touch or use was first an image, an idea, in someone’s mind. Seeing it and sensing it and loving it is writing an order to receive it. Mental images should never lack from a poor consciousness. Even if it seems impossible, fill it in. Ideas often have miracles of their own.
Our fathers gave us many laws, which they learned from their fathers. These laws were good.

Dear Kathy, Wonderful devotional today – wise and true. Thank you again for more inspiration.
I came across the following, thought I’d share with you and our Zenyatta family –
“His back, a throne of feathers, will bear you smoothly at the trot and gallop. He’ll go where others dare not. He’ll stand firm where others flee in terror . . . And at last you’ll understand why he was e’er the chosen one of kings. Juan Llamas
PS (would insert the word ‘she’ also)
Hope you and everyone has a wonderful Tuesday and you also, Zenny, and your two handsome colts.

Dear Elizabeth,
That quote is truly BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much!
Have a blessed Tuesday.

RIP Pat Eddery who has died aged 63yrs.One of Europe’s greatest jockeys.11 time champion jockey in the UK winner of 3 derbys 4 Arcs associated with some of the greatest horses of the late 20th century he had battled ill-health many years.He was married to the late jockey Manny Mercer’s daughter Carolyn and they had 3 children.They split up in 2008 and she went to work with Jeremy Noseda who’s wife Sally is an ex of Pat’s brother Paul.We will always remember him for the champion he was and his wins on Dancing Brave in the 1986 Arc plus Pebbles in the BC the previous year.Rest easy Pat you have found peace now.Sheena

Dear Kathy.I am slow (again)today been digesting the sad news about Pat’s untimely death.Oh,gosh life is so short isn’t it?He had many problems in his personal life especially after an acrimonious divorce from Carolyn.His brother took him to court later for unfair dismissal but the Judge threw the case out of court saying “brothers should sort out their troubles over a drink not in court”.He will always be remembered in the UK for the great champion he was.A sad day for racing fans.
Zoe is thinking of sacking her mum!Late posting her visit with Mr Alex.My mother loved going to Saturday afternoon pictures(as we call movies)She loved horror films unlike the sensitive souls these days!We always preferred Donald Duck to Mickey Mouse.Lovely pics of Mango helping her sissy Mattie and “cwtching” down with her plus Cha-Cha won the contest and can have surgery on her back legs now.All the calemders are out with Marty and Mr Fibbs was in hiding.Poor Ray is losing so many furiends lately and he’s having a bit of a bad hair day.Jack O certainly didn’t want to play.Have a great day the rain continues over here!Love and hugs to you,kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXOI am afraid to expect too much rather than be disappointed because I usually get disappointed!

Todays devo:
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. (Psalm 56:3)
One possible response to the truth that our anxiety is rooted in unbelief goes like this: “I have to deal with feelings of anxiety almost every day; and so I feel like my faith in God’s grace must be totally inadequate. So I wonder if I can have any assurance of being saved at all.”
My response to this concern is: Suppose you are in a car race and your enemy, who doesn’t want you to finish the race, throws mud on your windshield. The fact that you temporarily lose sight of your goal and start to swerve does not mean that you are going to quit the race.
And it certainly doesn’t mean that you are on the wrong racetrack. Otherwise, the enemy wouldn’t bother you at all. What it means is that you should turn on your windshield wipers.
When anxiety strikes and blurs our vision of God’s glory and the greatness of the future that he plans for us, this does not mean that we are faithless, or that we will not make it to heaven. It means our faith is being attacked.
At first blow, our belief in God’s promises may sputter and swerve. But whether we stay on track and make it to the finish line depends on whether, by grace, we set in motion a process of resistance — whether we fight back against the unbelief of anxiety. Will we turn on the windshield wipers?
Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Notice: it does not say, “I never struggle with fear.” Fear strikes, and the battle begins. So the Bible does not assume that true believers will have no anxieties. Instead, the Bible tells us how to fight when they strike.

Dear Sheena,
Always a wake-up call when someone younger than me passes away! I remember when I would have thought the age I am now was a dinosaur. Now that I’m here, not so much! Sounds like Pat had a lot of negative issues going on. May he rest in peace now. Somehow I think Diane’s secretary position is safe. They sure had a lot going on. The lateness was understandable. I’m with your mother on the horror films. I love them too! Donald and Mickey will be forever classics. Mango always a joy. Love her new little sister. Great news for Cha-Cha. Did you order a Marty calendar? Sure to be entertaining. I felt bad for Ray. He tried SO HARD to get Jack O to play. Stay dry and have a good Tuesday. Hi all,
Thought you might like to see some photos of the Spendthrift stallion band (or at least some of them). We had a chance to visit there the day after the BC. They were having a “Breeders’ Open House” (luckily, they didn’t insist on seeing your checkbook at the door!!!) and everyone was welcome. There was next to no sun so the photos aren’t quite as bright as I would have liked, but we did see Normandy Invasion and Wicked Strong (both of whom had just arrived and were out in the quarantine barn) and then Victor’s Cry, Into Mischief, Dominus, Flat Out, Goldencents (♥♥♥), Cross Traffic, Danza, Paddy ‘Prado, and Malibu Moon. The link below should take you to an online album on Flickr. Click on the first picture, and it will turn into a slide show that you can move through one at a time. The horses’ names are in the white band at the bottom left of the screen (under Sandy and the image number). Hope this works!

Sandy (Northeast Ohio); Thank you! The Steve Haskin story of AP was so heartwarming.
As Steve said all wonderful things of this “plain brown horse”, as he put it, there was something special. I could not help but think about our Zenyatta. There is some thing special that one can’t just describe completely about these two greats. Granted AP is a triple crown winner and BC winner, but their personalities so similar their……I think I understand Steve Haskin.

Hope Fancy’s doing well.

I am remembering Dubai today and so sorry that he could not have the life he deserved after he came off the track. He fought so hard when he developed laminitis and wanted desperately to live. I remember him walking outside and we were all so hopeful that he would recover. He showed so much courage and was a warrior and a hero on and off the track. RIP beautiful boy,run in heaven’s pastures and play in the sunshine with your herd. Let us remember you always and honor your memory by giving to help horses in need at the end of their racing days.

November 11 Cherokee Devotional
I sat on the pine floor behind her wood range and played with my doll while she sang “Beulah Land” and made biscuits for supper. It was a comforting hour, a time of homecoming, and aroma of baking bread and laughter and sharing what happened during the day.
E li si, Grandmother, was a caretaker, a person who fed all who came through the countryside with no hope for supper and no place to sleep. She gathered in family and impressed on them the need to help each other; she asked no favors and gave of all she had. She walks in my memory as surely as she ever walked-and surely she walks with others too.
I have not forgotten what you told me, although a long time has passed. I keep it in my memory.

Dear Kathy.I keep my grandmother in my heart always although it will be 53yrs this Boxing day since she passed.Like my mother she made a house into a home.
Natasha has written a touching tribute to her father Pat.His death was sudden in the early hours yesterday.He did have a partner called Emma but had problems with alcohol.I was just going to bed last night when news was breaking of the Cartier awards most of the ones I had voted for won except Gleneagles.Simple Verse won the stayers woo-hoo!William has returned to rehab in the UK and according to Alice is getting stronger every day but he will take a long time to recover completely. They will post updates on his website.
CNSM has given up hope of getting his van back but thanks to friends he is back on the road again.He posted a smouldering pic of himself with Hovis.!!!
It looks as if Red will get a lot of British(and Aussie) visitors I went on Living Legends FB last night and many are planning to visit him.He needs at least another 6 weeks before moving though.I haven’t decided yet about Marty’s calendar I always like to get a cat calendar.Ray has lost some more furiends again bless him and Zoe may get a new website design!She had a busy day and Gizmo visited the mayor.There was a lovely video of Joey strolling around the studios.Mango is taking care of Mattie so well she is a brilliant sissy.It’s still grey,dull and mild plus it promises our 1st winter storm tomorrow called Abigail!We may escape in the south.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Dear Sheena,
Off from work today. It’s ironic that Steve is the one who serves and I’m the one who gets the day off. NOT FAIR! Thank you to all the veterans who make our blessed freedom possible. Condolences to Natasha. It’s hard to lose your father not matter your age at the time. Congratulations to Simple Verse and all the others you voted for! Good news on William. Glad to hear CNSM is on the road again. Good to hear Red will have lots of people visiting him. The Marty calendar sounds like a lot of fun but I just don’t need another one. I did purchase the calendar where Zoe is featured for the month of September. Sorry Ray has lost more friends. Exciting news about Zoe and a new website design! She has had several busy days. Not sure how she does so much. Loved the pic of Gizmo and his visit with the mayor. I saw that Joey video. I sure do miss him even now. Mango’s video with Mattie was adorable. I was surprised by what a loud bark Mango has. Hopefully you escape Abigail’s wrath. Stay safe. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

happy veterans day :)
todays devo :
The Lord has promised us what we need, not what might be on our wish list.
The Lord has promised us green meadows where we can find rest, not a life that doesn’t require labor in His fields.
The Lord has promised us peaceful streams where we can quiet our hearts, not the absence of deep waters to overcome in our walk of faith.
The Lord has promised restoration to our souls, not a life without tests and trials.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m learning that taking delight in the Lord doesn’t mean being happy all the time. It’s deeper than that. It’s delighting in His small and everyday and good gifts — those ducks on our backyard pond, the sparkle in my daughter’s eyes, my son choosing a grocery store bouquet to bring me.
It’s enjoying the gifts He has given me, not bitterly coveting the gifts He’s given others. It’s loving Him more than I want things — finding joy in Him, in who He is, and praying that my desires for my life would match His.
