Happy Monday!
Zenyatta is expecting her fourth foal at the end of March, her second by War Front. We’re excited about the new arrival, and it won’t be long until we head to Kentucky for foal watch.
In the meantime we receive frequent updates from Lane’s End. Zenyatta is in perfect health and great spirits. Alys Emson caught her resting in her paddock last week–she didn’t feel like getting up but she wanted treats anyway!
Follow @teamzenyatta on Instagram for the most frequent photo updates.
Enjoy,
Team Z

Zenyatta, the most precious, precious girl in the world. Any one of us would be thrilled with the opportunity to deliver treats to the Queen. To think I worried about her being happy in retirement. Lane’s End is her home now and her happiness is so obvious.

Looking at the load you are carrying, we can all understand the desire to relax and be waited on. You deserve it, our Queen. Blessings on your sweet, soft nose. We love you dearly.

Thanks, Team Z. These pictures made my day. Looking forward to observing Zenyatta in Mom mode again.

Love the pictures of the Queen Mother. And I agree, her treats must be brought directly to her! Beautiful as always. Can’t wait for her to share with us what she has been creating these last several months. Rest easy big girl.
Michelle
You just relax, Queen Z. You’re entitled.

Zenyatta, you are absolutely beautiful resting in your paddock. Prayers for you and your foal to be. Take good care. Thank you Team Z for all that you do.
Lynn Martin
I did not get a picture. Any idea why?
Lynn Martin
Just read through posts and saw the one from Nancy in California. I am from California, too, so maybe just us on the west coast cant get the pictures??? What did we do wrong??
I was never able to see the photos on the last “issue” of the blog.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I feel so bad for you Lynn. It must be very frustrating when others are going on and on about the pictures. It’s hard to think that the blog shows up differently in one location vs another. I wonder if it’s something about your service provider or the way images like this are displayed on your computer? Hopefully Team Z will read this and offer some suggestions.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
I got no pictures at first (in L.A.), nor when I reloaded the page, but when I clicked on the “Checking in with Z” words/link at the top of this page, suddenly the photos displayed. Good luck.
And they are marvelous, she looks just great!
Lynn Martin
Nope, didnt work. But thanks for the tip. I just may have to click on that every time I open the page.
This is a new problem. On the last blog, I did not see the photos of Ziconic at the top until the new (current) blog opened. All I can do is hope they eventually come through. There is nothing new on this end. Not that I am aware of, anyway. I look at this usually in the morning at work. Occasionally on my home computer on weekends. I will try and see what happens on home computer.
Janie in L.A.
Just to chime in, I’m in L.A. and I have no problem seeing the pictures on any of my devices – at work or at home. Hope it stays that way!
Charlotte Sveen
I too am in CA, (Monrovia), and have no problems with photos on my Mac products!

Good for her. She deserves to take it easy.

March 2 Cherokee Devotional
What happened today that stirred you up and continued to nag long past the event? Have you been dominated by a control freak, or did someone leave the room on a happy note and come back mad as a wet hen? We cannot analyze or make excuses for others, but we can be kind. We can ignore what we know we had nothing to do with and didn’t cause. We can carry on as though the world has not changed in the last five minutes.
When someone is angry or hurt or spoiled, they tend to want everyone to pay for it. Don’t. It is their problem, and they alone should be smart enough to see how ridiculous it is. Go on with your life, but be alert. Know in your heart and in your spirit that you cannot be put down. Hold tight to your common sense and know you are spiritually protected always.
When you find something bad in the white man’s road, drop it, leave it alone.

BGG,
Thanks for the post. I had been trying to get some info on Keen Ice as to whether he had gone to Dubai or not. Blessings and safe trip to them all. Will pace for Keen Ice. So glad he is back racing this year. Don’t think he could beat Chromie in the big race but he and Frosted could give him a run for his money.

Sad news. My vizsla, Brook, is not pregnant. Breeding did not take. I am really depressed. I am a very small-time breeder, one litter every 2 or 3 years. I have established my own bloodline (Kiralyi Vizslas) and it is now done. Gone. Brook is my last homebred champion, last one left intact. :>(
All this talk about expected baby does help. Some good news out there in the animal reproduction area!
Lynn and the reds
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Lynn,
So sorry that the breeding didn’t take. I don’t know anything about breeding, but is it impossible to try again when Brook is in season again? (guess there are factors that affect this such as timing, age and expense of which I am ignorant)
I pray there is some hope for the bloodline. Best wishes to you and Brook.
Hugs and Love
Annie B.
I love this horse.
Zenyatta was magnificent on the track. Now she is simply beautiful resting in her paddock waiting for her new one to step into the world. Ann said it a while back, that Zenny seems to do everything perfectly. The sweetness and intelligence in her face simply exude contentment and presence in the moment.
I never get tired of looking at her. Maybe someday I’ll get to look her in the eye and kiss her velvet nose.
In the meantime, thank you Team Z for the wonderful photos and updates.
Could not be happier that Coz and Ziconic are making progress. they are so lucky to be in John’s care.
Hugs to all!

Dearest Zenny,
We totally understand your wanting to rest. It’s not long now until you won’t be carrying that load, and “our” baby will be here. Pulling for a filly, but whatever you do will be perfect as always. Love you.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Barbara W.,
So glad to see a post from you! We have missed you — welcome back.
Hope you are well!

CALIFORNIA CHROME STRONGER THAN EVER?
By Bruno Barbereau, editorialist at Jour de Galop and animator of Horse Racing Chrono
Winner of the Kentucky Derby (Gr1) in 2014, California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) came back at his best level. He showed it by winning brilliantly a 2,000m handicap on dirt at Meydan carrying 60 kilos. Now favorite at 2 against 1 in the Dubai World Cup (Gr1), California Chrome could win the big race, in which he finished second last year.
