Coz may be a mamma’s boy! 16.2 hands! Queen Z measured 17.2 hands in her prime at age 4. The 2 year old now stands at the same height as the mighty Man ‘O War and the great Secretariat. With at least two more years to grow, he’s going to be a big one.
Yep, TVG mentioned that Delmar has not had this type of excitement since the Zenyatta days. So agree. I am one of those CC fans. So thrilled with the connections! Definitely HOY! I was yelling and screaming for him to win the same way.
Hi, Max,
John had 2 horses race at Aqueduct today, so he is probably still in NY. I’m guessing that Coz is still here as well. Fresh Feline ran third or fourth in the third race, while Pulling G’s ran 2nd in the seventh race. Joel Rosario rode both horses for John.
Thank you again to all who are praying for my Amy. She acted like she’s feeling a little better & more like herself yesterday & today. It will still be awhile before she can use her left hind leg at all. Dr. Mike said that I have to keep her on a lead outside for at least 6 weeks. She is excellent about not bothering her approx. 6 inch incision & does not need to wear the dreaded “lampshade”. Thank you again, everyone!
No luck for Gentildonna in the Japan Cup. Winner was Epipanheina and Soumillon.
Trading Leather suffered a leg fracture in the race and was euthanized. He was the Irish Derby winner. Hard to take all of these racing deaths. His connections are devastated by this loss.
Oh how sad! I had not heard about this yet. I was just reading a good article about Trading Leather yesterday and his good chances in the Japan Cup. This is the tragic side of racing that breaks my heart.

Now that was fun. Congrats to California Chrome — and Art Sherman for being right. He loved the turf.
Lastly, reminded on day like today of late, great Joe Hirsch,

1) “Good racing is good business”
2) “I’m rooting for the best story.”

Oh Wow!!!!!!! I got my wish.! Thanks BGG!
Now that was a lot of fun!! Chrome looked awesome and just so loose and calm.
Great race California Chrome, so happy for you and for Art Sherman who knows you inside out and made a good decision to let you try the turf. He said nothing much bothers you and he was right! Good to have a team who believes in you,I do too!
Have to say I am fond of Lexie Lou, she ran a good race and came in second-still showing the boys what she is made of. But it was all yours today Chromie,I just loved that race!!!!
I watched the replay on Calracing (forgot CC was racing today) He came out of the gate like a rocket straight to the lead. I think he’s baack and on a new surface to boot. Maybe he will be versatile like “the most interesting horse in the world”. I think California Chrome is a real contender for HOY. I’m so glad he will be racing again next year. How about Lexie Lou coming in second? Some girl power there.
I rejoice with all Chromies on California Chrome’s glorious win today. It is a bright spot following what was a painful Friday for me for I had to take my senior mixed breed dog Sweet Caroline, known to several of you, to the vet to help her transition to the Rainbow Bridge. I hope that these lines which I composed to honor her and to help me cope with her loss may also help someone else deal with the loss of a dear pet.
For Sweet Caroline
(????– November 28, 2014)
In my mind’s eye
I see you running through the sky
Towards the bridge famed in pet lore.
As you’re ascending,
With each bound
I see your body mending.
Your muzzle, with age faded white,
Can now be seen
Shading back to its former hues of brown.
Your senses of smell and sight
Become again keen.
When you have found
The entrance you were seeking,
You pause to turn around
And look back to me.
For a moment, though it’s brief,
You sit down
And once more
Raise your gentle paw,
As you’ve done so oft before,
This time though
As if a blessing on me to bestow
Which consoles me in my grief.
Rising to your feet,
You wag your tail as if thanking me
For the life we shared here below.
You give a joyful bark
To let me know you’ve found relief
From all infirmity.
Then it’s time for you onward to go.
I’m glad to see
Your tail’s a-wag
And your head is up
As you trot, with the ease
Of a youthful pup,
Through the open gate.
Behind it you’ll patiently my arrival await,
And there on some future date
You will me joyously greet…
Fare well, my beloved friend,
Until we meet again.
