One of my blessings for which I am thankful is Zenyatta, her babies and Team Z. Thanks once again for the wonderful access to her.
I voted for California Chrome for Vox Populi as he is gorgeous, Mr. Personality and very talented. He created much excitement in the racing world and is still very popular.
Just heard my boy Night Prowler is racing Saturday at GulfStream Park West. It is actually Calder. Mr Stronitch has really done a nice job. Saw some pictures of the barns and really looks like a very nice improvement. Said there’s a lots more room for the horses to lie down. Was so nice to read this. They have done a lot of work on the turf course too.
Sure hope my boy does well. His owner is the original owner of Big Brown.
Wish him so much good luck on Saturday.
Saturday some very nice and old favorites running in the Cigar Mile. Itsmyluckyday, Vyjack, Transparent, (Bernie’s Son) a lot of them we love.
Can’t wait to see this race. Good Luck to all.

I am so very sad to hear of the death of Australian cricketer Philip Hughes this morning..Aged 25yrs he was struck on the head by a ball during a domestic game in Sydney on Tuesday. My sympathies to all Australian sports fans.RIP.Sheena.
What an awful twist of fate. So sorry to learn of Philip Hughes’ death — gone way too soon. Another freak accident has stolen life from someone.
Rest in Peace, young man.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! And in addition, happy birthday to Sandy in NE Ohio!
A Birthday Poem for Sandy in NE Ohio
(November 27, 2014)
This fall, as an early deep freeze
Hit the Midwest
And for days would not relent,
Perchance our Sandy’s thoughts turned back
To in memory reprise
The sun-blessed time
She spent
In California’s sunny clime,
Watching the best of the best
At the Santa Anita track.
It’s thanks to Zenyatta, of course,
That Sandy joined the ranks
Of those who follow the Thoroughbred horse.
’Twas the 60 Minutes encomium–
In sum,
How John Shirreffs spoke of the Queen–
That Sandy down this new path led
And piqued her interest in the racing scene.
A three-time graduate of Case Western Reserve,
As a registered nurse she worked many a year,
And then took on a teaching career
At distinguished Ursuline College,
Fostering nursing students’ knowledge,
Earning their respect and that of her peers,
Till entering a retirement that, by all accounts I reckon,
She did very well deserve.
’Twas then that this unknown racing world
Before her its charms unfurled
And to her did beckon.
In due course,
She, who had never touched a horse,
Flew to the West Coast
In repeated trips to the Breeders’ Cup,
Squeezing in a visit to Hollywood Park
Which could boast
Of being Zenyatta’s home,
The track where her racing first started up.
Sandy was there
To visit Barn 55
Before that storied park
Went forever dark,
To the despair
Of fans who’d hoped it would survive.
Now in fantasy handicapping, Sandy’s enthusiastic
About being part of Team Zentastic,
And she does excel
As well
In betting at the track—
This year she from the Breeders’ Cup came back
With more betting funds than when she went
And considers her bets money well spent.
She had a winning bet on My Fiona
(A filly with a fine Scottish name,
A heritage which Sandy too
Through her dad does claim).
Sandy correctly tapped Untappable,
And what’s more,
Rightly judged Main Sequence
Would maintain his three win sequence
And go on to make it four.
But what made her smile
Most of all
Was her winning call
On Goldencents,
Defending champ in the dirt mile,
Who again took first place
In his final race
Before being sent
To stand in Kentuck’.
Now it’s Sandy’s good luck
That Kentuck’ is for her
Just one state away,
And she looks forward
To the day
When she can visit this handsome bay.
Sandy racked up
So many a win
That she could well afford
A memorable din-din
At the folksy Northwoods Inn,
Where she post-Breeders’ Cup
With Z-sters did party
And the meals, served family style, are hearty.
Thus this Santa Anita trip,
Like the two before,
For Sandy did conclude
With great companionship
And delicious food,
Shared in a celebratory mood.
And while Sandy did sup,
Yet one more
Special delight
Was in store
That night,
For who should drop in
But Steve Coburn, all down-home
With his cowboy hat and infectious grin,
And accompanied by the gentlelady Carolyn.
He,
Co-owner/breeder of California Chrome,
And she,
His charming wife,
Had seen a Cinderella story
Come to life
When, from a humble beginning,
Chrome raced on to glory,
Two jewels of the Triple Crown winning,
And in the Classic, where many emotions were stirred,
He by only a neck finished third.
With his Chrome,
Mr. Coburn
Did his spot in history earn:
In choosing the breeding that Chrome begat,
Mr. Coburn proved himself sagacious,
And then in stopping by with the Z-sters to chat,
He showed himself most gracious.
What fine memories of Breeders’ Cup
Days and nights
Sandy would take home!
For next year,
She has Keeneland in her sights
Where she’ll again for equine athletes cheer,
And she wishes for good measure
That many more Z-sters might
Also show up
At the 2015 Breeders’ Cup,
For she holds Z-ster friendship very dear–
That’s what she most does treasure.
Dear Trina,
Thank you SO much for the amazing poem. My very first introduction to actually communicating here on the blog was a “happy birthday poem” from you which I will never forget. So much has happened in all of our lives since then, and I am so fortunate to have found so many wonderful friends here.
Thanks for the good wishes to Sheena, Celeste, Judy B, Carol, Kathy and Debbie S. Although we’ve been spared the snow that blasted the northeast in the past day or so, we got more than expected this morning so I’m off to see what I can get scraped up. I hope everyone has a lovely day.
Love and hugs,
Sandy
Dear Trina,
What a lovely poem for Sandy! You still have that wonderful gift for expression. It is so good to hear from you. I was thinking of you the other day and hoping you were okay; we have missed you very much!
Warm Hugs and Lots of Love
Happy Thanksgiving, Team Z…especially the Mosses who hgave created a home for us here. Zenny, Coz and Ziconic, God’s blessings on each of you today and every day. To my fellow Zenny fans, peace and joy … enjoy this special holiday as we give thanks for all we have in our lives.
Among the many reasons I hold in my heart the thoughts of being grateful for this day, I am always thankful to Team Z – the Mosses, Lane’s End, John and Dottie, Kyle and Alys – everyone involved in the Team – for continuing to share the life of Zenyatta with us. She means so much to me and it is always such a pleasure and a great start to my day to come here to catch up on all things Zenny. I am grateful also for all the kind and supportive followers who have gathered on this website to share in this bond. You are all so special and I’m thankful. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Since our early years, we have learned that age is a state of mind-and that sometimes we are several ages all at one time. The number of years we have lived means nothing. Some never achieve poise and wisdom. Some seem to be born with it. No one cares how old we are if we are projecting something worthwhile that defies age. When we are comfortable with ourselves it reflects agelessness that only grows better with the years. Age, the Cherokee believes, includes the many stages of life to measure wisdom. If our minds are kept flexible, our bodies will be lithe and easy-and if our thoughts are rigid, our bodies will reflect it. We either grow and mature beautifully or we lose our flavor-like rare spices left in the wind.
These people who want to go there will get old pretty soon.

Checked on the furbabies. Everyone seems to be doing well. Coco has been adopted!!! Mango’s prayers worked! Have a good day today. Are you by any chance having turkey for lunch or dinner??? Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
