Margano was scratched. Think is could have been because of the weather there. Rain and more rain. The Jackson’s other horse, Set To Music by Dynaformer, finished 3rd.

If you haven’t seen him, go to Pennmarydel’s face book page. They have posted some photos of him that will knock your socks off. One big beautiful boy!

Would you believe that some of the meanies are suggesting Taco (Jess’s Dream) be gelded. And he hasn’t even had one race!

RIP Omar Sharif. OS, also, had a supporting role in Hildago, a very exciting movie about the rugged cowboy, Frank Hopkins and his beautiful paint, Hildago.

I counted Merin taking 30 flaps during ground test in the nest. It is so hard to believe they only hatched six weeks ago. May God keep all His beautiful creatures out of harms way.

Good News for Rajiv and Irad. Power up.

Thank-you Sandy, I know Mario will take care of him. I was just wondering; don’t anyone get mad about this, but it’s just an observation. First, it seems like through birth until now, there has been more videos and news about Coz then Ziconic. I was thinking at first, it was the first child, second child thing, but now he has his picture taken with a blanket with a hole in it, while Coz has a nice clean crisp blanket. The last pictures I got on the web, Ziconic had a nose band all taped up, with pieces of tape hanging down. I love both horses, rather or not Coz becomes a race horse, he is a beauty, But Ziconic is a very handsome guy, and he might be something special, and I think it’s a shame to present him that way. It’s almost that he is being slighted, because he doesn’t look like his mom. He has her blasé, and her dance moves. I feel bad when I see the difference in the way they are presented. I hope John is treating them the same. On a video, I heard a handler saying, ” Come on, let’s go”; in a way like, not really wanting to do it, while taking him to the track. I just feel bad, that he doesn’t seem to be treated as important as Coz. Okay, let me have it Coz lovers, but remember I said I loved them both, but I wonder how much love Ziconic gets compared to Coz.

    Roberta,
John would not tolerate less than the best of care for any of the horses training with him. Mario is Ziconic’s groom & he adores him! I am sure that the Mosses love both of Zenyatta’s boys equally.
Have you ever owned a horse? Maybe Ziconic put the hole you saw in his blanket himself! It is way too expensive to buy a new blanket every time something minor happens to the one they have and the minor hole or hanging tape does not affect the blanket or any other equipment from doing what it is supposed to. It would be very time consuming to worry that everything looked perfect when there are more important things to attend to with the horses’ care.
Ziconic may be getting a little less coverage because everything is pretty much a repeat of what was done with Coz. I am sure we will hear about it if Ziconic does something special, like the clip of him dancing.
By the way, I love both colts, but I am a little partial to Ziconic; it was love at first sight for me when I saw the first picture of him.

      Dear Donna,
I think you are right about the blanket, we all saw him chewing on the towel Mario
gave him. And I think most people on this blog have never had a horse, the only time
they need to have to have every thing in order- meaning no holes etc… is when they
are in a show or on race day. If a horse owner replaced horse damaged clothes and equipment we would go more broke than we already are. Blankets cost almost $200.
So a hole is no big deal.
      Love and hugs

I am informed that holes in clothes etc., are currently in style. Peeps pay a lot of money to buy these things with ready made holes. In addition to all of his other fine attributes, Ziconic may just be one who will make the best dressed horse list.

Keep in mind, there is no way to know everything that goes on when no one is looking at any track or stable. John is not there 27/7, right? These are horses who sleep on hay or straw, in a clean stall, not humans. So what if the blanket has a small hole. Perhaps too much information is revealed on the reality of a race horses life in training. It is very controlled and scheduled, with no real freedom to do as they choose. They have one purpose only which is to win races for their owners, trainers and those who choose to wager on them. So glad The Mosses expect the best care and visit now and then. Love them.

When forced to wait, do it with patience. But do not waste the time. This time is for a purpose, a time to remember words of truth and grace, a time to let the fount of faith refill the arid spirit.
Patience comes willingly when a minute is used wisely. It forces nothing but lets power, drop by drop, refill a weak body and depleted soul. Practice receiving, practice gratitude, say what you want-not what you think you are going to get or what you deserve.

Came upon it via the thoroughbred champions under breeding and sales. They have some folks who find info on broodmares and offspring in Japan. I think they had last years catalog as well and I knew I could not wait to see Orfevre’s this year. Some names under the dams will be familiar since they raced here and were later bought by Japanese interests.
Glad you and Judy enjoyed it.

Didn’t see the picture of the hole in Ziconic’s blanket but as a horse owner for over 40 years I can tell you that horses are like little kids. You get your children bathed and hair combed, good clothes for church and they step out the door into a mud puddle.
We had a show mare that had white stockings behind so when we showed her we wrapped her hind legs until the moment we went into the ring so she would not unload and get manure on her legs….most of the time it worked ,not always someone had to be close behind in case she needed a quick clean up. Ziconic could have torn the blanket moments before the photo. No need to sweat the small things, the big things are being handled correctly.

Thanks guys for all the information, and cute stories. I was afraid I might get some nasty replies, but you all were very kind. I have never owned a horse, and Ziconic looks like he could be a character. When I saw him, it was love at first sight, and I guess I just feel like Coz gets more attention. It’s too bad about Chrome. I never liked the idea of him going to England, to me, it was asking too much of him; I agreed with his trainer. I think he loved the grass, and it would have been better to race him on the grass here. Instead of helping his stud career, I hope it didn’t set him up, for future problems. Does anyone know if this kind of inflammation could lead to laminitis? Also, I have heard before, that horses that go to Dubai to race, often never come back to good form again, does anyone know why? My prays are with him, He is a Champion!

      Dear Roberta and Z Fans:

Roberta, the link below is an article on Champion, Smarty Jones from 2004. He had bruises on all four of his Cannon bones. I thought this might help answer your question and shed some light on this type of injury and what causes it.

Wishing our CC all the very best and a full recovery. Power Up Beautiful Boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Sad to hear about California Chrome, but he has given so much already to his connections and I hope he can stay here in the states and make little Chromies.

Yes, this is really sad news. So far it sounds like the X-Ray finding were a complete surprise so no word on when or how this happened. He’s a great horse and deserves nothing less than the best possible care. It will be a great loss to his fans if he never races again, and I feel so bad for Art Sherman and his team who have been separated from him for so long. Power Up Chromie! <3
