Happy Monday!
Zenyatta, 13Z and Cozmic One were visited by Jerry and Dottie this weekend. It was a particularly special visit because they were there to see Coz off as he departed Lane’s End for Mayberry Farm in Florida. At Mayberry he’ll follow in his mom’s footsteps and focus on his new routine—learning to be a racehorse. Alys captured video of his departure for the fans.
The team spent time with Zenyatta, who is looking great and in foal to War Front. They also said hi to 13Z, who’s having a blast this fall with his buddies.
We’d like to thank Lane’s End for all of the time, enery, and love that they have put into Coz. For that, we are very grateful.
Enjoy!

Sheena. Food is very important to a healthy horse, thereby the sayings, eating like a horse or healthy as a horse. Kauto also has his DVD constantly on his mind like Hovis with his movie. I’m waiting for Moosie to start in on this. Best wishes to Mission to Mars, Marty. I too would love to see Moosie in action if only in the post parade.

Terry Crow, I just saw your joke on the previous page. Love it! I also saw what you posted about the Make A Wish foundation. They do such amazing work. They showed one little girl on the news last night that got to visit Rachel Alexandra and then she got to go into the winners circle with Rosie Napravnik. She looked so happy. And then a man gave the Make A Wish foundation his winning ticket worth $26,000! He didn’t want any publicity, he just walked two of the workers to the ticket window and vanished. It’s so depressing to watch the news anymore, but stories like this restore your faith in humanity.
Terry Crow
Thanks for sharing this, Debbie. When a celebrity refuses to cooperate with Make a Wish, I no longer have any use for them. What kind of a person would refuse a child’s dying wish? However, if a celebrity takes time and interacts with a kid for which it was the kid’s last wish, they go WAY UP in my opinion of them. As for Make a Wish, that is what it’s going to take for Kentucky to beat Alabama today.
shirleeinindy
There are some wonderful pics on Rachel’s facebook page of Make A Wish Day. One of Calvin and the little girl that will make you weep.
On another note, I know I promised, but I am so excited about Muchie and the Classic that I can hardly contain myself. Go Big Boy!

James 1:17
See The Little Things God Does
Many a time, we look out only for big demonstrations of God’s love to feel loved and favored by God.
My friend, don’t just look out for the big blessings. Bless God when you do get them, but look out for the small blessings and tokens of His love that He showers on you each day. That little baby that smiled at you? That’s Jesus winking at you from heaven! That little note of encouragement from your colleague? God moved that person’s heart to bless you and to show you that He cares! What about yesterday’s shopping trip in which you found an item that you’ve been looking for at a special discounted price? That’s God placing you at the right place at the right time!
Beloved, don’t just look for the spectacular to be happy and miss all the small mercies from heaven. It’s the little things that matter in life—a note, a smile, a hug. Good gifts from your heavenly Father sometimes come in small packages, just like the manna from heaven. See in them how much He loves you, cares about the smallest detail of your life and is thinking of your good throughout the day!

Attention Terry: Trivia question. Who are Wilbur Plaugher (sp?) and Leon Coffee (sp?)?
Terry Crow
I don’t know Wilbur, but I believe that Leon Coffee is a rodeo clown. Am I right about him?
Rosemary McCauley
Terry, you are right. Leon is a rodeo clown and so very, very talented and really made a comedy show out of his very serious work. One of my favorites. Wilbur is also a rodeo clown, – he would wear big, big (really big) coverall type things that were very wide in the waist area and he would come into the area before the bull riding, of course and do an act with his border collies and Australian Shepherds. Then he would reach down into his huge coveralls and take out a miniature donkey and put him down and he would run and play around the arena. I believe he also had a monkey who rode his dogs.
Terry Crow
Sounds like a great time. Rodeo clowns are sometimes not taken seriously, for good reasons as that is the way they want it, but they play a vital role in the safety of the cowboys. Many a cowboy owes his life and limbs to the skill of a rodeo clown.

For Judy Berube,
I used this song for you. Our trips to beautiful KY are what gets me through some very difficult times. Before we left for KY I read about your current struggles. You posted this song to a awesome video from the great movie Black Beauty. This video does not compare, but it is from my heart with my own photos and video. For me there is something so special and sacred about my own photos and video….even if they are not that good. I hope you feel what my heart is trying to say to yours. I hardly know you, but I think of you daily and pray for you. The video you shared when I lost her helped me more than words could ever say. This is my thank you and poor attempt to sooth your wounds. Much love and prayers for you always. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6nc8nlzP54

Why don’t kids listen to Josh Groban rather than some of the popular “artists?” When my daughter was growing up I used to buy lyric books at the music store. Frankly, I was shocked at them. I wonder if kids really know what they are listening to?

@Terry Crow, you are right on about the Kentucky/Bama game, but I’ll have you know that as of right now we have held them scoreless! Of course we haven’t scored either, but that’s beside the point! Haha
@Sue, thank you for the beautiful post. I hope you did better handicapping this week than I did. I could just kick myself because when I looked at the horses yesterday it said “Kitten’s Dumpings”. If it had said Dumplings I would have picked it for sure. I thought it was probably a misprint, but you never know what some people will name a horse, and I deal with enough kitten dumpings with my cats!
@Ashton, that’s a beautiful post to Judy B. She is such a kind and gentle soul. I would love to meet her in person one day.

Dear Debbie G.,
I am almost rolling on the floor with laughter!! Love your explanation of why you didn’t pick “Kitten’s Dumpings”! I agree that some of the names can be bizarre. Thanks for the big deep-down laugh! Hugs

Glad I gave you a good laugh, Marshall! The names some people give their horses always amuses me. My favorite is the race at Monmouth a while back when My Wife Knows Everything beat The Wife Doesn’t Know. If you haven’t seen it you need to check it out on YouTube. The stretch call is hilarious!
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Debbie,
I have seen that race, and the stretch call truly is hilarious!
What are the odds that horses with those two names would be battling it out at the finish? Incredible!
Have a good week! Hugs

I did not do well yesterday either. I did not finish in the money again.
I think next year we should have a rule.
If Johnny V is in the race we should bet on him at least to show.
I think he has been in the money in almost every capping race this year.
With this disclaimer of if he is on a total long-shot then we pass.
This has been fun again and I am looking forward to the BC races.
I am not lucky enough to go to the BC races like some of the other cappers but I will be glued to my TV and with all of you in spirit.

A very tough year for KY football. Here is some info on the game
John Clay , Sports columnist Lexington Herald-Leader, tweets
Final: Alabama 48, Kentucky 7
If you missed it from last night, UK gave up 35 first downs, most since 1994
Alabama has 668 total yards, most against Kentucky since Peyton Manning and Tennessee gained 695 in 1997
And, there are still more games to be played–BGG
Terry Crow
I hope that the Alabama coach played some of the third, fourth and fifth team players. Those guys work as hard as the stars do in practice and really enjoy it when they get to play.
Debbie G/Kentucky
Wow BG Girl, those are some really ugly stats. We hung with them for a little while and I was really hopeful it wouldn’t be a blowout, but we eventually fell apart. When does basketball season start?!
Debbie G/Kentucky
Terry, the only way Kentucky will ever beat Alabama is in basketball, that’s for sure!
Debbie G/Kentucky
I’m sure everyone got to play, Terry. I think I even saw the water boy and the mascot in there!

I did, too. They each scored a touchdown against the Wildcat defense.

Delrene from Carlsbad, California
Some wonderful races going on today and I watched one on Cal-Racing Live because the name seemed so crazy for such a beautiful horse. “Empty Headed”. Why in the world would any owner do that? He sure showed them by coming in 1st and Heat Streaker 2nd. ( Both my picks) I think Empty Headed’s sire is Unusual Heat, so wouldn’t you think they could come up with something a bit more “refined”???? Just an observation, not a criticism, but I sure will follow this fellow. Enjoy all the rest of your weekend folks.
Terry Crow
The horse was consigned to a sale by a woman who was called empty headed on a local radio show about racing. She donated all of the proceeds of the sale to a horse rescue. I’m sure the horse doesn’t mind the name.

I caught up on about 6 pages here today, tough when I just can’t read it all. I loved the whole lion-king joke thread, Terry, and everyone’s reactions. Also read with your comments to me on p. 11, and agree that your idea about “hiring vets to take care of unwanted animals” is a good one, I might have to write to “someone” suggesting that. I am sure it has been thought of already, and they might be doing that, at some veterans facilities (therapy animals).
And yes, It would be a good time for some relatives of rednecks jokes, except a couple of my redneck relatives have been fighting for months not to lose their home, which hasn’t seemed funny at all, for now.
Also thanks, Terry, for that info on Trina — I had no idea she “ran a dog rescue a few years back on her own land”. Just one more surprise about our poet laureate, I’m sure there must be more unknown wonders we may learn about her.
Finally, Terry, will you be gracing us with your presence at the BC this year, hmmm?
Terry Crow
I hope to be there on Friday. If I make it, you will be one of the persons whom I seek out. And, you are right. Trina is what I would call a renaissance woman. Mom update
I have not updated on my Mom lately so this is what has been happening.
Mom had her surgery 2 weeks ago and the remainder of the 2 tumors and a dozen nodes where removed.
The chemo had no effect on nine of the lymph nodes as the cancer was still active in them but in different degrees.
The chemo had good results on one of the tumors but for some reason the other tumor again was not affected.
The surgeon removed all of the remaining cancer and now Mom has started her radiation. Mom has had 8 treatments so far with 22 or 32 more to go. The extra 10 only will be done if the Doc thinks Mom needs them. Mom is really hoping that she does not.
Overall Mom is feeling good but she has to rest and be very careful not to do too much.
Now other news has come out over the last few weeks about my sister. This is my middle sister she is waiting for test results.
As unbelievable as it sounds a few weeks ago my sister had her yearly check and a few lumps where found. An MRI was done and just Friday a biopsy was completed. The results will be back next week on her. We are hoping that the results are negative to cancer.
Thanks for listening it helps to know that you guys are out there and that you care about us.
Love all

Wow, Sue! I hope you gals get some good news. From friends going through chemo and/or radio treatments, I know what a mixed bag that can be, too many side effects to list. Just the worry, takes its toll. Only thing that seems to help, often, is talking about it — to not be all alone with it, and feel like someone else understands, and knows how you feel.

Bob Baffert talks about the greatest moment in horse racing. Think that he’ll get some support for this one.

Max, thanks for posting Baffert’s memories of that race. We will never forget it — the grandstand shaking, the total support for Zenyatta, not being able to catch our breath, the complete elation at her victory. And Trevor Denman’s call –“This is UNBELIEVABLE!” And so it was.
Terry Crow
I’ve told this story before, but it bears repeating in light of Bob Baffert’s comments. I was in a race and sports book in Las Vegas that day and everybody there stood up and cheered for Zenyatta as she returned to the winner’s circle.
