Happy Friday!
For nearly three weeks now, Cozmic One has been able to call John Shirreffs’ barn at Belmont home. He’s settling into a relaxed training schedule, where he is permitted to learn and grow at his own pace.
We welcomed him off the truck from Ocala, FL at the end of March and met up with John and the crew at Barn 41 again yesterday. We hope you can share in our experience through the photos and videos below.
Enjoy!
-Team Z
THE ARRIVAL: MAY 25, 2014
TRAINING: JUNE 12, 2014
Shirreffs has been documenting the process with his helmet cam, just as he did with Zenyatta. Below is one of his videos.

So, so exciting to see Coz learning and growing. He’s so much like his mother it’s uncanny. Such a beautiful, intelligent colt. I know he’s going to do great things on the racetrack! Can’t wait!
Thank you so much for all the photos and videos–following Zenyatta and her brood is so special to me.
Happy weekend to all,
Stel
Cheryl
Wow, he looks awesome! So much like his mama! Safe training to all and thank you for sharing this exciting news!
Gail Bentzinger
I first saw Zenyatta on a TV show called Jockeys where she was being trained by lady and ridden by Chantal Sutherland, in secret, in the pre-dawn hours, with another horse alongside so other trainers couldn’t see her. She was going to be in a claiming race, but the trick worked because no one claimed her. Then I lost track of her until she began winning races! And now her son! It’s wonderful!

LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
That wasn’t Zenyatta, but another horse. Zenyatta’s never been in a claiming race. She was in a Maiden Special Weight, an Allowance, and then all graded stakes from there on out. Also, Zenny was ridden by David Flores or Mike Smith in all her races.
Terry Crow
Right you are, LauraJ. I remember that episode of Jockeys. Everyone was concerned that John Sadler was going to claim the horse in question..
vicki
OMG! How did that adorable bundle of cuteness grow so quickly into a gorgeous hunk of horsepower? Standing still and looking around he looks just like Mom. But when he starts to move he looks like his Daddy. What a responsibility for John to take on. We know our boy couldn’t be in better hands.
PUVamp. Praying for you.
RIP Intense Holiday. Will miss you handsome. Why can’t something be done about laminitis?
Erin
Beyond exciting!!!! Cannot wait to see how he progresses! he’s a beauty just like his mama!
Lauryn
What a change in conformation! From when they unloaded him to his 3rd week video, he almost looks like a different horse! What an awesome change in his topline and back end. Cannot wait to see what this powerhouse prince has in store!

Big thanks to Team Z for sharing these photos and the video of Coz at Belmont. He seems so calm and respectful of his handlers, and interested in his new world. What a gorgeous colt! Thank you also for giving us a glimpse of his training and I loved that his owners were there, too.

I am thrilled to see Coz with his team. He looks so good and is so well behaved and, like momma Z very used to being with people and cameras! Great to see Jerry and Dottie there and I believe she blew Coz a kiss when he was getting washed. I’ll go back and watch it over and over but I think she did.
Oh, we are such a lucky bunch for Jerry and Ann to continue to share the new chapter in the life of Zenyatta and her first – Cozmic One.
My gratitude is beyond description.
Love to Zenyatta, Zi, Z Princess, Team Z and Team C. Always.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!!!
Louise Spadafora
So beautiful!!!! Check out that stride on our boy in that last video! ;-)
Margaret
What fun! Thanks John that was awesome! Hi Dottie! Since he’s only two my guess is you just want him to relax, learn what he’s needs to and then wait for him to grow up some more.
Brandi
Wow, thanks so much for sharing. I’ll be anxiously awaiting every update!!
Linda R. Moss

It is going to be fun watching him come along! Thanks, Team Z and C for making this available to us. He’s going to be big boy. Have nothing but great trips, young man. Zenyatta just keeps on giving.

What a treat. To sign on to the Blog and there is Coz looking big and handsome. Don’t know if it was the camera but he seems to take after his mom is size. Happy to see John’s hands on approach to this boy. Blessings, Safety, Health and Happiness to our Crown Prince.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
“Thank you To Team Coz and the Mosses…….what a special treat! I sat here outwardly
mezmerized, but on the inside I was screaming OMG. He is just stunning, and has so many traits of mama Z, stops and stares, and knows what the camera is for sure. I also see some of his beautiful Bernie traits. What a stride when he was galloping, and that lovely soft look in his eyes. I think John really loves what he sees, hope he can mold him into half the champion his mama is. I am just so excited I can wait to see more…… I am greedy, but very thankful to share the Mosses excitement on their firstborn son. Congratulations Zenny you done good.
On a sadder note RIP Intense Holiday, another one of our beauties lost to this hateful disease.
Love and kisses to Mama Z, Lily, Ziconic and CoZ and to my special boy Indy.
Shirley Donoho
Thank you so much for sharing. I just can’t believe that I am looking at Cozmic One. He is just gorgeous! And he seems to just love whatever he is asked to do. God Bless him and his Mom.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Looks like he stole one of Mom’s blankets. :-)
Cynthia H.
Laura, I think the purple blanket that Coz is wearing belonged to Tiago, winner of the 2007 Goodwood Stakes. I think it is really touching how carefully they have obviously kept it. Coz looks beautiful in it, and it is my favorite part of the video.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for the info Cynthia. I visited Tiago today at Adena Springs. He sends his regards :-)
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Lucky you, kiddo!
Cynthia H.
Thank you, Sandy. How wonderful for you! He is such a beauty.
Make great memories!
Terry Crow
Happy belated birthday, Cynthia. Hope you had a good one.
Cynthia H.
Thank you, Terry. As long as I am still breathing, it’s a good one!
Abigail_1849
Happy belated birthday, Cynthia. Question: Would that be the Goodwood Stakes in the USA? I thought — when I saw Goodwood — that the blanket might have been a gift from STING. LOL!
Cynthia H.
Thank you very much, Abigail. Yes, it was the Goodwood Stakes which was loved and run during the now defunct Oak Tree Meeting, now re-named the Awesome Again Stakes, who was (not) by coincidence owned and bred by Santa Anita’s very own Frank Stronach.

Just looked up “Goodwood Stakes”:
