Happy Friday!
For nearly three weeks now, Cozmic One has been able to call John Shirreffs’ barn at Belmont home. He’s settling into a relaxed training schedule, where he is permitted to learn and grow at his own pace.
We welcomed him off the truck from Ocala, FL at the end of March and met up with John and the crew at Barn 41 again yesterday. We hope you can share in our experience through the photos and videos below.
Enjoy!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!
June 15 Cherokee Devotional
When we lean solely on the past, we remember vividly the things that never were. If something was u wo du hi, beautiful, the present time fades in comparison. If it was bad, it too often consumes our joy in every new day. It is a daily matter to pick up the good and put down the not so good. We hope to preserve the precious and lose what oppressed our happier natures. But it requires us to monitor what we are thinking about and how we tell it-and not pull up the flowers with all the weeds. If we had the capacity to be happy at one time, we still have it. It is just that we have it in a new time, under new circumstances and with a spirit freed from the past. The worst slave is the one who dwells on and relives the past in all its murkiness.
I will not dwell on, nor mourn over, our untimely decay, nor reproach our paleface brothers for hastening it…

Dear Kathy.Thinking of my own father today. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone so many years (23).The “bobbleheads” were wishing Monty a happy day, think Glesni is waiting for lunch it’s a beautiful day there sunny but lovely breeze.Dolly has reached 6000 Yay!!It’s going to be very, very hot this week bless her fur and heat don’t mix well!I remember Katie used to love to lay in the bath on hot days!Have you see Marty’s new venture an adbice column!!!What will that rat get up to next??I had to laugh when he said he wasn’t a qualified therapist.Fubu went out in his stroller yesterday to visit nana.Did you see about that gun range that is going to open next to a cat refuge how cruel is that!!I can’t understand the American passion with firearms!Hope you have a blessed Sabbath.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly, Nikko and Sugar.I’m loving the Buddy facts!Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Happy Father’s Day to my daddy in heaven, too! I miss him every day. Happy Father’s Day, Monty! Congrats to Dolly for reaching 6000! I know all about fur and heat. My pups always suffer when it gets into the 90s or higher. Marty, Advice Columnist. He’s a superstar! Continued best wishes for Fubu. I hadn’t heard about the gun range. Horrifying! I’ve been enjoying the Buddy Facts immensely. He’s such a cutie! Have a wonderful Sabbath, and a good week. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy

Dear Kathy and Z Fans:
Happy Fathers Day to all Dads. Miss my Dad too. Love and Hugs, JB
Kathy
Dear Judy,
Thank you. You feel cheated those first few years after you lose your dad. All you can do on Father’s Day is take flowers out to his grave. But then the hurt lessons a bit and you remember with such fondness all those wonderful memories you have.
Hugs, Kathy

Dear Janet:
Oh, so sorry to hear this news. Wishing RN all the best and a full recovery. Rest In Peace beautiful Socialbug. Love and Hugs, JB

Janet,
Yes so sad, RIP beautiful, and healing prayers for our sweet Rosie. hugs
shirleeinindy
So glad Rosie was not more seriously injured. Sad about Socialbug. Racing has got to find a way to keep these things from happening. I don’t know what the answer is. Perhaps more frequent vet checks?? I love the horses but fine myself becoming more disenchanted with racing with each of these breakdowns. God bless and keep them all safe. A special prayer for my boys Muchie, Lea and Palace Malice.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
I share your feelings. Very, very sad. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Oh no, how awful! This is too sad. Hope Rosie is recovering nicely. Condolences to the connections of Socialbug. Another beauty gone way too soon; so sorry. RIP Socialbug

JudyB. Still in happy shock. The Stephen Foster is a prestige race. Street Cry won it. Moonie must have turned a corner in his training and come into his own. Glad to see it.
Free the Moose! Power up Danny! Power up CDA, Chromie and all others who are sick.
Beast, how’s it going? Tasty, call in.

Dear Max:
Moonie won impressively. Power Up CC, Danny, Ring Weekend, CDA, Reilly and all who are sick or injured. Loose The Moose! Love and Hugs, JB

I can only imagine how John must feel having one of Zennie’s babies in his care.

Question if anyone knows the answer. Would sure love to know. As many know I love the Black Thoroughbreds. Does anyone know if there are many son’s of “Devil His Due” standing in the United States. I know that he is Pensioned at Marguaux Farm in Kentucky.
He is so gorgeous.
I know Roses in May is in Japan, but was wondering if there are any sons standing in the US.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
This Fleet Is Due stands at Diamond Crest Farm in PA for a fee of $1000. He is out of the Afleet mare Northern Fleet. Tomahawk Lane stands at Harris Racing Farm in MD for $1000. He is out of Sinful Sooni, by Alleged.
If you want to find information of this kind, you can go to the BloodHorse stallion register and search. Sire of the stallion is one of the search options.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Thank You so much Laura.

Peggy,
One of my favorite hard knocking racehorses is by Devil His Due. He is not a stallion but a gelding – Black N Beauty. For a nano-second, during his three year old season, he was considered a “maybe” candidate for the Classics. He is six years old and has dropped into the claiming ranks on the New Mexico racing circuit. I wish I had the money to claim him and retire him from racing.

Way To Go……………………………….We Miss Artie…………………….Congratulations……………….
Ok Now, Come on “Ring Weekend” Stay Safe All
Max
Peggy. Artie could be a Triple Crown winner in Canada. I think that race is a prep for the TC races, starting with the Queen’s Plate. Javier is on fire these days. Last Sunday he rode the Beast to victory at Belmont.
Free the Moose! Power up Danny! Power up CDA, Chromie and all others who are sick.
Beast, got you on speed dial. Tasty, still waiting for your call.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max
Yeah, I think that race was a prep. I was getting worried there for a moment. Artie was kind of boxed in. He did it . That was a great race.
Now, just worried about Ring Weekend.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Max
The Ramseys also owned “Roses In May” that I was talking about above. the son of Devil His Due.. He looks pretty Black to me also.
Japan has some beautiful Black Thoroughbreds, but I think most come from the Sunday Silence Line.
Oh, and incidentally Roses in May is at the Same farm as I’ll Have Another. Big Red Farm.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max
I’ll be rooting for him in the triple crown. Love, Love his sire Artie Schiller
Max
Peggy. The Ramsays love that horse. They are no doubt thrilled at this win. Hope that you get good news of Ring Weekend.
Free the Moose, etc.
Tasty, I’m waiting for my cell to ring. Or text me.

Dear Ring Weekend
Pray so hard your O.K. I just heard vets looking at you at the barn. (Eased)
Be OK Ring Weekend, Praying real hard for you. Love Ya.
You did come back to the barn on your own. Be OK, Boy
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
Wasn’t aware Ring Weekend was eased today. Hope he is OK. Very upsetting. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy
Hey, Yes he was eased up. He was doing wonderfully for a while. On the Lead. All of a sudden don’t know what happened. He was just at the back. Very far back. They said he came back on his own. Said he walked back to the barn on his own.
TVG said he seemed to be OK. Last I could find out was that the vets were looking at him in the barn.
So praying he is OK.

Coz is really looking good and I can imagine that John is very happy to have him there with him to start his training. Coz is a very handsome boy and I do believe that he is going to be much like his mom when he starts racing, he already likes the camera’s. This is the starting of some very exciting times ahead in racing. Thanks so much for the Video’s and pictures I just love watching Zenyatta’s kid’s growing up and getting ready for their racing career. The best to all and will be waiting for the next picture preview. Love to Coz.

Wonderful pictures & videos of Cozmic One. He certainly is his Mother’s son. So much to look forward to. I felt like I was riding Tug with Mr. John all the way. Give Tug some extra carrots. Beautiful photos. Coz likes to pose like Mama. Sweet:) Thanks for all the updates. Stay safe everyone.

Love the new pictures and video of Coz. So wonderful. How much fun for John and Team Zenyatta and all of us to have Zenyatta’s first born with them and under their loving care. How fast the time has passed. So glad that John has his helmet cam going again so we can share in his development and he does look like his mother’s son but we will all just have to wait and see if Coz has his mother’s passion for racing. but no matter what he is a lucky horse because he is so loved.

Hope you and the pups have a nice week.
Stay cool!
Marshall (NC Broad)
Will try to stay cool, Ann! Those temperatures for this week are going to be tough!
Obviously, not my cup of tea — Reilly and Huey don’t care for the heat and humidity either. They will get to stay inside for most of each day this week.
You stay cool, too! Love and Hugs

June 16 Cherokee Devotional
Success or a s qua dv, as the Cherokees use the term, is a sense of doing something and having the rewards. But anyone has to take care that a little success does not weaken effort or steal initiative. Persistence must be our constant companion for however long it takes and for whatever it requires of us, to keep stretching our limits, refining our spirits, renewing our minds. Things have never been important to the Cherokee as much as land and home and family. But success means different things to different people. Nearly all agree that dignity and respect are symbols of success-and spiritual foundations are not just buildings or groups but an inner power and strength of an individual.
Among themselves every warrior is an orator…an excellent way to whet the courage of their youth.

Dear Kathy.Very wise words. It’s turned a bit dull here today,Glesni is calling for her lunch no signs of 24 today. There are 10 osprey chicks in Wales this year!We haven’t had that number for hundred’s of years!
All our other furbabies are well, poor Dolly it’s so hot there today I06F so they are staying indoors, trouble is with the hotter days they get more power cuts. She looked so pretty in her pink dress! Zoe was certainly enjoying her ice-cream her mommy has such a soothing voice.Joey will be reaching 300,000 before long he’s one lucky cat!!Marty is dreading Monday as usual!Have a great week.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly, Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Maybe Glesni will have fish for lunch. Glad to hear that Blue 24 is staying away. Glad the numbers are so encouraging. Dolly is GORGEOUS in that pink dress. I chuckled when she talked about mommy having to jump around like crazy to get her attention! Zoe was precious enjoying her ice cream. You’re right, her mom does have a soothing voice. Congrats to Joey. Nice pic of him lounging on a chair or sofa. Colorful! Marty was so funny commenting that he SMELLED Monday coming. Ha! Have a wonderful day and week. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

COZ is the picture of his mother and father he is beautiful. WOW what a handsome boy. Zenyatta should be so proud of him. John please be kind to our boy.
Donna Olinger
Cos is a looker for sure…..I am sure any filly’s at the training barn are looking him over saying “wow what a handsome fella he is”…
Hope he does well with his training…won’t be long he will be running on that racetrack and leaving the others in a cloud of dust, just like him mom and dad.

I saw this new posting on Friday but have been unable to post a comment until now. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
To say we are grateful that you share COZ with us would be an understatement. He is absolutely out of this world gorgeous! As I watched the videos I teared up… remembering the night he was born… I went back and watched that video :-)
God bless Zen’s first born Prince. Please keep him safe and sound. We already know he is in the best training hands, and is happy. I understand he likes to “bite” – too cute – keep ’em on their toes, Coz lol
