Happy Thursday!

Zenyatta and her Tapit colt have new paddock mates at Lane’s End. Alys snapped the first photo of the group, and we’ll post some more once the little ones get to know each other.

We have an video interview to share today. Dr. Holder, who was present at the April 1st foaling, met up with us at Lane’s End the following day to talk about Zenyatta. You’ll also see a sneak peak of our footage from the night of the foaling—there’s more of that to come along with our next round of video interviews!

      Sheena. Congrats to Mad Moose. Just read about the race. He was a near 2nd. He’s getting great results. This is incredible.
      For those you might not know, Mad Moose was a jumper, but refused to start in his last two races. He was recently switched to the flat and has had a first and second in his first two flat races. Quite amazing for him and his trainer. Mad is 9 and starting a new phase of his career quite brilliantly. Grand ole chestnut and eccentric too.

    Since I didn’t get a chance to visit the site last night, this is the first time I’ve gotten to see the new photos and the interview with Dr. Holder with snippets in there of Z13’s first night! How incredibly awesome the Mosses have been to share all these special times with us, to allow us to continue to be devoted to our Zenyatta. Lane’s End, Alys and Kyle, you are all so wonderful too. This place always lifts my heart.

    Congrats to the great Black Caviar on having a stamp issued……such a supreme honor.

    Is it my aging eyesight or is Little Red lightening up underneath? I guess it’s going to be a mystery as to what color he will be for quite a while. He sure is a cutie.

    Sympathies sent to the Brits on the tragic loss of Andrew Simpson a great athlete.

    Trina your poems only get better…..if that’s possible. I shall lite a candle for our dear Judy Glore.

        Hi Barb,
        If you go down to the picture with where Penny talks about a blue sling she got for her chest and shoulder and click on that pic. Evidently, she had some kind of hematoma or something and it burst and pythiosis (what she had on her foot) got in the opening and now its in her shoulder too. So sad……..Penny has tried so hard to clear up her foot and was doing so well. This poor mare has been thru —- and sure deserves a good life. Hope this helps you find her pics. hugs

      Dear JAG,
      Thanks for this sad update on Hollywood Park. I heard the news yesterday, and it was very unwelcome; although, not surprising. I had been hoping (and will continue to hope) that this would not happen. Who needs more high priced housing and shopping areas? I have never had the pleasure of being in Hollywood Park and am very sad that I never will be able to experience this piece of glorious history.
      WARNING for any tracks in the future: Don’t sell to Bay Meadows Land Co. — all they are interested in, apparently, is demolition of race tracks and construction of more shopping centers/condos. So much for tradition and beauty. This is a travesty.

    Hey…. I just saw a really funny joke on a ‘news story’.

    Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…. LOL

    A little boy had parents who worried that he was too optimistic. So they took him to a psychiatrist. Trying to dampen his spirits, the doctor led the boy into a room piled high with horse manure. The boy unexpectedly squealed with delight and began digging through it. “What on earth are you doing?” the psychiatrist asked.

    “With all this manure,” the boy replied, “there must be a horse in here somewhere.”

    I figured, this being a horsey place, some of you might appreciate it. :)

I had for gotten that you were the one who turned us on to Hovis—-I LOVE him!!! I ordered his first two books from the Horse and Hound website–there is a shop. They are priceless!! Wouldn’t you just love to meet him—and his mom??? Sheena,I loved seeing the brief bit of Wales when I was there–it was lovely–and such fun looking at the street and town signs!!

    dear max moose has certainly had a new lease of life on the flat the sky’s the limit! wasn’t hovis hilarious today if there’s anything you don’t understand of british humour you only have to ask will do my best to explain!seems kauto has a poster of BC up in the stable and wishes he could have a stamp as well as a dvd!!aidan O’Brien had 2 good winners at chester ruler of the world and magician derby hopes I think more trials at lingfield tomorrow and the dante meeting at York next week!!hugs sheena

      Sheena. Some of the names of the British people whom he sometimes mentions are not known to me so that I have to google. Saw that Kauto has a BC poster. What happened to his love for Quevega? Looking forward to the Epsom Derby. Any thought of a Triple Crown in England this year?

    I emailed my redneck brother regarding Hollywood Park’s closure notice, he has gone to the races at HP & SA regularly for about 50 yrs (way more than I have), and he replied: “a sad, sad, day in a galaxy far, far away…after 75 years. I actually thought about doing an article (and still may) titled “Indians don’t like horses anymore???”

      Donna H…We loved how you described our Zenny as a miracle. She touches every person who comes to know her in a very unique way. Dr. Holder is smitten, just as all of us are and it’s wonderful.
