Foal Watch: Day 14

Today concludes our second week of foal watch. We must admit that we arrived a little early! Zenyatta has kept us waiting, but she’s showing signs that it won’t be too much longer. As always, we’ll let you know as soon as there’s news.

We also have a little update on Ziconic from John and Dottie. They say he is doing quite well following his March 25th race. He’s been getting lots of gate practice and learning to be comfortable in small spaces. We can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

    Love the pictures!!! Z sure loves Ann and Jerry. Maybe Z is having so much fun seeing her favorite person, Ann that she is holding back on the baby. Hope the baby comes soon and all is healthy.

    I’m glad I am not holding my breath! Longest foal watch ever, lol!! I’m happy as long as it’s healthy and Zenny gets to be a mom again. Kudos to teamzenyatta!

    Betsy is having surgery on her jaw at the moment miraculously the jaw is not broken but she needs plastic surgery to cover the bone.Please spare a prayer for this courageous dog and the wonderful team caring for her.

    I really think that Mr. and Mrs. Moss should plan an evening out. Twice Zenny has interrupted their dinner and had them called back to Lane’s End when it was time for the little one to arrive. The suspense is getting to us all Zenny.

    Okay, I’m convinced you don’t want to foal because you enjoy having Ann make daily visits! You’re no fool, Sweetie! Just because you were born April 1st! LOL

    That is one BIG “Foal on Board” :-)

    We will continue to bite our nails, and walk through the soles of another pair of shoes, as log as you have a comfortable delivery, and a healthy baby!!

    Dear Zenyatta – Now I’m packing for a vacation and I am checking your website for any updates and announcements. Sweet girl, you are giving us a great lesson in patience. Thinking of you and hoping your days are filled with peace and happiness. Perhaps today is the day. Your two boys had nice workouts today at Santa Anita. It’s been such a treat to follow you and I will be missing out for awhile. Thank you to your caregivers and photographers for these wonderful photos.

    Great photos as always, Kyle. Thanks to everybody for sharing these anxious days with all of us. Thanks, too, to John and Dottie and Team Z for keeping us up-to-date on Ziconic (and Coz). It’s reassuring to know that John is exercising his famous patience on Zenny’s possible “late bloomers.” Just like their wonderful mother!

    Well Zenny – I see that I haven’t missed anything. Spent the day across town in at my old high school interviewing applicants for some scholarship money donated by my graduating class. I must say – the world sure has changed since we went to school “back in the day.” Just unbelievable the courses these students are taking, the activities they are involved in, the volunteering that they do, and the dreadful family situations some of them are dealing with. To say that it was an interesting experience hardly begins, BUT . . . . I DO NOT have a “smart phone” and it didn’t seem polite to take my tablet and say “where’s the WiFi around here?” so it was quite nerve wracking to be out of communication for that long.
    I will echo what the others have said – WE are certainly the beneficiaries of Team Z arriving “too early” – these pictures have just been fabulous, and we’ve heard from people who have been MIA for a LONG time! I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to explain things – especially that our Queen is NOT really all that late to foal. Bravo to Kyle and everyone on Team Z for keeping us informed and entertained. Glad to hear that it may not be long now :-) Sending more love and prayers to Zenny and her foal.

    Dear Judy.Betsy is still being operated on.It’s a far more difficult job than they thought.May the dear Lord bless her.Another sad horse story Omega Star used to be with John S but was removed by owner seems he was retired and rehomed (very vague)but has been rescued from a kill-pen.It’s a small rescue and they need funds for his vet care.I wondered if you had ever heard of him?

      Dear Sheena:

      I remember Omega Star. One of the girls in our rescue group was concerned for him. JS trained him from his Maiden Win on 12/31/12 until 8/2/13 when he raced for new trainer, J. Hollendorf. He remained with JHollendorf until his last race of record on 2/9/14. Somebody dropped the ball!.

      I’m so glad to hear that he is rescued from the kill pen and I hope he finds a caring and loving forever home. He is a son of Candy Ride out of a daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus mare, Pride of Pegasus. Love and Hugs, JB

    I was so hoping that I’d read on here that Zenny had her foal! I like Brenda’s idea of the Mosses going out to dinner. I’d be more than happy to pick them up at Lanes End and treat them! Thank you so, so much for keeping us up to date and sharing all the beautiful pictures, Team Z.
