Dear Elizabeth, Thanks for thinking of Judy & I. Spring does feel far away right now. It’s so cold. Can’t wait to get into shorts & a tee shirt again! Love, Christine
Dear Christine,
When we lived in Alaska, we’d wear shorts in March if there was a break in the weather for a day or so. Maybe soon you get a reprieve, and be able to ‘pretend’ it’s summer for a few days. Hope today ‘warms up’ for you. with love, Elizabeth
Even though I haven’t posted lately, I continue to treasure my daily visits to this site. It is such a welcome haven for good news, positive vibes, and best of all, info and photos about our Queen and her connections – and now she is almost due!!!!! Like all of you, I am praying for a safe delivery and a healthy foal.
Did you all see that Ziconic is running at Santa Anita on Sunday – race 4 on the grass. Let’s cross everything we can that he enjoys his return to the track and discovers that he likes racing.
To all who are, like me, surrounded by piles of snow, stay warm!
Hugs to all.
I hope you saw my post on page 8. I did not intend any criticism of you or your Crufts report. I apologize for poor sentence construction — I was generalizing about how prevalent rudeness is these days. You certainly are not rude.
Dear Marshall.Certainly no need to apologise. How are you coping with the cold weather.after a glorious day here yesterday it’s turned rather chilly again. You would amazed to see some of the comments on FB.Love to you Smudge and Bailey.Hugs
North Carolina has had very little normal winter this year. February was the second warmest on record, and except for the first week in January, it was abnormally warm, too. We got a little snow/sleet during that first week in January, but that’s all that has actually covered the ground. This past Sunday it was snowing beautifully during the morning, but the ground was not cold so it was very transitory. I rather like winter. I dread our summer heat and oppressive humidity as well as having to mow grass a couple of times per week.
I’m disappointed about this, but that’s just how I feel. Chromie being shuttled to Chile for stud duty. Stay healthy and safe dear beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB
Chile doesn’t produce that may foals per year, but it has had some good racers. Tiznow has Chilean blood on his sire line, from the mare Tizna, from whom he also probably got his name. Understand how you feel.
I know you do; can’t help worrying about him. No ill intent against Chile horses. TIZ is magnificent. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
You are a very long time admirer of Chromie. This news may not sit well with all his other fans either. Chromie deserves some time off in Kentucky this summer and visits from his fans. He’s done enough already.
Dear Judy,
Feel the same as you ~ disappointed. Hopefully, after a little while, they’ll bring CC back to the U.S., since most of his fans are here. He sure has been shuttled around a lot.
A sad day at Cheltenham we lost Hadrian’s Approach and Toe the Line.Hadrian used to run in the Grand National he hadn’t even been placed since 2014 and should have been retired.Run free now with all the other champions.Amongst the happiness and cheering there is always some sadness.RIP
Judy,
Thank you for the video of Appalachian Gem’s race. He sure had on a lot of head gear. Sneaky ride by the jock to come up the rail like he did. Hope he does well in the Rebel.
Godspeed to our dear Red Prince on Sunday. Hope he does well and comes home safely.
I totally agree. I love CC & I don’t like this shuttling back & forth. He deserves a rest & should stay here with us. It’s pure greed & not considering what is best for his welfare, Love, Christine
Agree. Keeping CC in my prayers. Let him enjoy the visitors and relax. They have dollar signs in the eyes, I have smoke coming from my ears! CC, you have done enough already for your peeps.
Dear Judy:Colder here today.Great happiness at the Festival but also sad losses too.The vets at the course are brilliant though.Wishing Hudson a very happy birthday and St Patrick’s day.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
I would also like to join the chorus of those who were disappointed that California Chrome was going to be shuttled to Chile. RIP to Hadrian’s Approach and Toe the Line. I wasn’t familiar with them, but in my book anytime a horse leaves us it makes a day a bit less bright. I see some others beat me to the fact that Ziconic is BACK! Best Wishes to all involved. Royal Mo is scheduled to run on Sunday. Again more Best Wishes. and Good Luck to all concerned. May all who are still stuck in cold snowy weather stay warm and safe and sleep beautifully. Good Night.
Thank you for our Hovis update. That poor boy! Maybe they should give all his feathers a trim so they will grow out evenly??? I know he must be SO mortified. I hope his electric therapy helps a lot. Safe trip to all horses and jockeys and many prayers for all the horses who have suffered injuries.
Thanks for our Hovis report. What a time he is having, massacred feathers AND being a pin cushion! Poor fellow is then deprived of his hay nets — if it weren’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all! I do hope the electric therapy works for him.
Forgive me is someone posted this earlier. Taco’s (Jess’s Dream) first mare has been confirmed in foal. If you want to take a chance on great bloodlines, his fee is only $5,000. Wish I had a mare.
Remembering is painful at times. It is so easy to relive what happened, and what did not happen, and we try to take all the blame. A fortunate few can look back and delight in the memory of times past. Most see it as a reflection of our own guilt. We know what guilt is. Why did we not do a better job, pay more attention, follow a hunch? It is probably because we are better at hindsight than we will ever be in seeing things as they are now. Would we have done differently if we knew then what we know now? Maybe. But how could we see past the bend in the road? The best thing we can do for ourselves is to forgive. Forgiving heals. It clears the way for quality time-time to build and love, and renew and restore. It is what the Cherokees call a da to li s di, a time of grace when we have done nothing to deserve it.
I am tired of fighting…from where the sun now stands, I will fight no more.

Sizing John wins the Gold Cup thrilling finish but heartbreak as Cue Card fell at the 3rd last again but is fine.Jessie Harrington’s first ever runner in the race and Kicking King picked him in the Irish Stud video!Out of the horse’s mouth!!!Congratulations to all connections.
Judy,
Bloodhorse.com lists Appalachian Gem’s odds at 30/1. If I were betting still think I would put a few dollars on him at least to show. My goodness, the Rebel is loaded with talent. Don’t know if the track is going to come up muddy or not.
VERY disappointed that CC is leaving the US. After all the hype for us “Chromies” about how he was supposedly “America’s Horse”, they have let us all down, because of greed. That poor horse can never get a break. The US needs his bloodlines to bring back horseracing. I think that he should definitely be bred to Songbird, Zenyatta, and Beholder. I was really looking forward to the foals coming in two years, but now feel GREATLY let down. Racing between AP and CC foals would have been a sight.
So nice to see zenyatta so healthy and happy. Like everyone else, I am looking forward to a uneventful birthing, and a healthy foal. I love seeing Ann’s devotion to Zenny. It’s comforting to know that she still receives great care, and that her owners truly love her. When I think of all the animals in the world that have ever known a days kindness and affection their whole lives, it saddens me. But then along come pictures of Ann and Zenny, and they lift my spirits and delight my soul.
These photos are so BEAUTIFUL. I love seeing Queen Zenyatta & Ann together, having fun. May God watch over Zenyatta & her foal and keep them safe.
I can’t wait for the “Queen of Racing” documentary. That is an AWESOME idea for us Zenyatta fans :) THANK YOU !!
Now I have watched Zenyetta since her racing days, have been very thankful that you all had a “website” to keep track of all her events, but have just kept quiet about things that upset me about events. I have raised purebred German Shorthairs for 35 years, and have had horses since I was five. When a bitch is ready to give birth one does not invite 20to 30 people over to celebrate her birthday. Everything is quiet and peaceful and routine! Same with mares. I can’t imagine what that poor dear was thinking when you all gathered last year for her birthday. She probably thought you were getting ready to race her again, and just “sucked it up” and started shutting down the hormone thing. They will do that you know. That’s why that poor foal was late. Leave her alone!!! No hugs, no kisses, no balloons. Keep everything natural. No crowds please. Let her get on with it.
She is a HORSE. Treat her like one. And don’t put foals out in a pasture with halters on.
Christine
