Dear fans,
As we make our way to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, we’re remembering Zenyatta’s incredible career and the memories that were made. Here’s a look back at some of these moments.
Watch the ceremony live at 10:30 am ET at drf.com or racingmuseum.org.
Thank you to the fans who have been there every step of the way.

Thank you for reporting. This is the best source of info on this blog. Thanks again. So happy for his success.
Max
Here is the video of Z’s brother winning today at Dundalk. Race was not on the turf. Looks like it was on synthetic. Nice win. He’s a very big boy. Roberto ears are prominent.

Thanks Max. I find all these things so hard to find by myself and Bloodhorse is so late reporting. Was so anxious to know how he did. He did not look that much bigger than the others to me. They always say he is “huge”. So happy.
Max
Camera angles can deceive. Ballydoyle says that DC is the biggest colt or filly that they have ever trained. That means that he’s already probably at 17 hands. This also accounts for his late start. Ballydoyle usually begin racing their horses in the 2nd year. Bigger horses like Z and her brother take longer to mature.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
OMG, brought tears to my eyes. Reminds me so much of Z; those big, long strides, gliding effortlessly over the ground. He did it four wide too. Wow, and he’s still learning. Congrats beautiful DC. Hope he gets to race in the Classic some day and wins, just like his big sis. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
He’s probably still growing too. O’Brien has been looking to win the Classic, so that you never know. Just hope that the colt keeps winning and runs next year. He will be an asset to Coolmore when he retires. Good genes on both sides like his sister.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Yes, I think you’re right; he’s still growing. Pray he stays healthy and strong. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks, Max!
De Coronado looked good and raced great! Nice win at Dundalk.
Congratulations to DC, O’Brien and all connections!
Cheers and Hugs
Max
He didn’t look altogether sure what the young O’Brien wanted him to do, but when he was asked he went for it. Also good sign that he did not back down to the other colt in the stretch race. He kept going for the win. Very nice.
shirleeinindy
Max,
Thank you for the post. He looks good and closed quickly. He and that jockey are both long legged boys! DC is going to a horse to be reckoned with when he gets a little older. Such a joy to see him win! Thanks so much again.
Ingrid Arnone
Dear Max:
Wow, he is really a great horse, he runs like Zenny….!!!
Thanks for the video.
Hugs Ingrid.

Thanks Max,Congratulations to De Coronado,a beauty like his big sis, fabulous race!
It has been a week of memories, watched the 2009 Breeder’s Cup race again and laughed at the words we heard so often,”Zenyatta is Dead Last”,knowing what was to come. Then the familiar, “This is UN-BE-LIEVABLE!”
I am so happy for Zenyatta and Rachel and loved the words of John Shireff’s and so many others, a great time for us to appreciate both and to celebrate their induction into the Racing Hall of Fame.
The Steve Haskin article captured Zenny and her accomplishments so well, brought tears to my eyes. Love you Z.

My Dear Z Family:
I found this video by accident. It’s so poignant and hits home for me and I know it will for all of you too as we are of like mind. Have a lot of tissues handy. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy B.,
This really does get to you — we humans are quite heartless. To paraphrase one of the comments, you shouldn’t treat a child like this, nor should we treat a dog/pet like this since they are our children, too. Quite true.
Thank you for the link, my friend. Give Lola Mae a big hug — I’m quite sure you already have. Bailey and Smudge just got more hugs, too!
Hugs and Love

Dear Judy.Such a heartbreaking video. No way to treat children or animals.People can be so cruel.Thank ypu for sharing.Love and hugs Sheena

Dear Sheena and Marshall:
That video just destroyed me; wasn’t expecting the ending. I read later that a rescue group put it together to bring awareness to the number of animals that are abandoned every year. If that doesn’t make the point, I don’t know what will.
Marshall, I was holding Lola Mae as I watched and I think I scared her, I was crying so hard at the end. You’re right, I definitely gave Lola extra hugs. Love and Hugs to you, Bailey and Smudge. JB and Lola Mae

Dear BGG,
Is he gorgeous or what? Beautiful colt, great pedigree and lovely color!
Best of Luck to him and to the Zayats. Godspeed #57.
Thanks for posting this.

Max
He’s a gray? Hard to tell by the photo, but I think that his dam is a gray.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Yes, I think he is a grey — soft shade of grey however. I like it; he looks rather satiny.
I would like to see a picture of his mama.
Hugs
Marshall (NC Broad)
Max,
Here is a link to an article mentioning Manerbe and Frankel’s Lot #57. He is a grey. You are correct about his dam; she is stated to be grey/roan.
I hope I have this right!

Thanks Marshall. Interesting background. Mom born and raced in US, but was taken to France. This colt is now coming home. That gray coat from her is very nice.
shirleeinindy
BGG,
He sure is a handsome boy. Sort of a different color but beautiful. Am not familiar with the dam’s pedigree.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Shirlee,
This lovely grey Frankel colt is out of Manerbe who is a daughter of Unbridled’s Song. Her dam is Mrs. Marcos who has Damascus and Nijinsky in her pedigree.
Manerbe also had a filly named Marbre Rose by Street Cry who had some success. Marbre Rose was among the first group to be bred to American Pharoah.
There is another Manerbe who is a standardbred — maybe that’s the pedigree you were unfamiliar with.

Dear Max.I have been off my PC awhile so thank you for posting De Coronado’s race.A very nice win for him and those Roberto ears! Not such good news about the Gurkha he has a displaced colon and his racing career may be over.Prayers are needed .Sheena
Max
Very disturbing news about The Gurkha. He’s at the same hospital in Tipperary as Nick was. I hope that they can save him. The latest bulletin from Ballydoyle is that he’s resting comfortably. Power Up, Gurkha.
sheena.davies(wales)
I hear it’s not life-threatening but of course he did have colic last year. There are always memories of St Nick’s long battle.Hopefully the Gurkha will pull through.Sheena
Max
I don’t know what to think. Various media stories say that he was either back at Ballydoyle in his “box” on Saturday or still at the hospital. Kind of hard to believe that colon surgery would result in a discharge that fast. We’ll just have to wait. Worrying however.
sheena.davies(wales)
My friend who lives in Dublin visited the ‘Fly’ today and she sat on the fence feeding him mints.Such joy. It’s going to be another late night for me.Long tennis match again and such a warm night.
Max
The key here must be the mints. Or The Fly is okay with females. He may reserve his bites for men like Mullins or Ricci.
NBC is not covering tennis. I did see some of it on a sports channel.
We’re waiting for Bolt to run.

Dear Max, Sheena and Z Fans:
Keeping The Gurkha in my prayers. Get well beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank you for the memories!! I could watch Zenyatta forever!
What a great team of connections there was!
I will never forget Z’s 16th race at Arkansas as I made sure I’d have my spot 3 hours or more at the rail to be right there and see my love Zenyatta.
And I will never forget the 2010 Breeders Cups when Z showed the world who was really the greatest and then at Keeneland’s celebration retirement in Dec. Wow, we drove a lot to see you but it was worth every single mile. It was the most thrilling time of my life to see the horse I came to love so so much! Sally B, (Wi)

These memories hold such a special place in my heart! There will never be such a special horse as Zenyatta for me. She had such a lust for what she did and brought such joy to her fans in doing it! Those memories will remain in my heart forever and my love for her will never sway. Thank you to the big beautiful mare, a once in a lifetime horse for her connections and a once in a lifetime love for her fans:))))

August 15 Cherokee Devotional
A real person exists beneath the surface of who we appear to be. We often hide our real selves to protect them from others who want to tell us how to run our lives. Sometimes we hide our real selves so long that we forget who we really are. Then we fall prey to many difficulties, especially those that come with trying to live our lives according to what others think we should do.
When we live our lives according to how others think we should live them, we cheat ourselves of our right and privilege to be ourselves. It may seem obvious (though it is often hard to do) that we need to be our real selves in order to act authentically and to make the decisions that are right for us. Issues that once confused us become clearer when we are aware of our own inner strengths, and when we no longer hide them.
We want none of your customs that we have not adopted ourselves.

Well done to Willie Mullins and team for refusing to use Lasix in the American St Leger so unlike a lot of other European trainers I could mention!!!Andre Fabre is also annoyed Flintshire is using Lasix. He has never bled so….
Max
I’m getting a little tired of long distance Euro carping about US racing. These decisions about medications should be left to the individual trainer and vet to determine on a case by case basis. Chad Brown was taught by Bobby Frankel. He knows what he’s doing and it is always what is in the best interest of the horse.
sheena.davies(wales)
As you surely know I don’t carp just was thrilled with Willie’s decision. You do as you wish in the US.Nothing to do with me.No more news about the Gurkha but most probably will be retired.Sheena
Max
Willie Mullins made the decision for his horse. That’s his right. Chad Brown makes the decisions for Flintshire. He doesn’t need any criticism from afar. That’s it. That’s all.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I hope you’re getting through your Monday without too many problems. Poor Zoe had a ton of prayer requests. She is encouraging us to be a rainbow in someone’s clouds. The ratties continue to be appalled by Mondays. Very cute videos on My Pom Pals. Remember to do a lot of turtling today. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Kathy.A beautiful day in Wales. As you know I have always been proud of my little Island and to think we are 2nd in the medals table to such a large country as the US.It was a super day yesterday and another late night for me!I had to wait to see Usain Bolt but he would never stand a chance against a cheetah!.Magnificent match last night with Andy retaining his title and I was so proud of our boy singing the national anthem.
Still no signs of Glesni and they caught 21 fish last week between them.I hope she is on her way in this good weather.I have no idea what time Valegro is on but Nip Tuckshop is raring to go.A new male osprey born at Loch Doon in 2014 has been in Wales this year. They thought he was a female when ringed and is named Elsa.Very modern. The Dyfi is hoping he will return next year,Has anyone told blue??
Andy is flying North to play this week Ohio I think,Such sad news about those comfort dogs getting shot again and one man is “critical”.Yet more guns in your country. If only they held a doughnut instead!!Sad to hear a friend of Zoe ‘s daughter had a stroke aged 47yrs.Mango had a great camping trip even bird brudder Jade went along.I think now Felix realises how far she has to run!No more news of the GurkhaI shall have to visit Paul Rhodes FB to see if there is news.Nothing on Coolmore.Does’nt Monday come around quickly these days?Too warm for a sock today so I need to turtle.Have a good day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
sheena.davies(wales)
Hovis would be so proud of Nip Tuckshop!!And it is so hot in Brazil.Hope Valegro can cope and win going at 4.40pm

Dear Judy.A lot were annoyed Laura and also the Spanish rider didn’t get marked higher .I thought Laura was very good but Valegro and Charlotte were phenomenal.Love and hugs Sheena

Dear Sheena:
Unfortunately, marks don’t always credit the good performances; it happens. But Laura and Diddy have to be pleased with their Olypic effort. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

OOPs, that should be “Olympic”. Sorry about that. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B. and Sheena,
YAY! Charlotte and Valegro were indeed phenomenal — just perfection! How wonderful that she retained the title and “Blueberry” retires on top of his game. They are so beautiful together that my eyes misted while watching! Big Congratulations to them and GB.
I was disappointed that Laura and Verdades got bumped out of 3rd by Broring-Sprehe, but very happy that they achieved a new best score. I thought Juardo Lopez on Lorenzo was very good, too, riding for Spain. Laura and Juardo finished in 4th and 5th respectively. The 3rd German rider, Dorothee Schneider on Showtime, finished 6th.
I enjoyed watching all of them so congratulations everyone!
Hugs and Love
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Marshall:
Congrats to Valegro and Charlotte. Laura and Diddy and the USA Team did well. Proud of them; congrats to all of them. Love and Hugs, JB

There will NEVER be a horse as magnificent as Zenyatta!!! We are so fortunate to see her in our lifetime!!!!!! Thank you for these photographs!!!!!
Max
Agree with this statement. No other horse in the last 10 years, not even Dan, impressed me as much as Zenyatta. Watching her race is thrilling. I never get the same thrill from others as I do from Zenyatta. I am still waiting for race officials to declare her the winner of her last BCC race.

Thank you Max for the video of De Coronado’s race in Ireland. I find the best information on Zenyatta’s blog!!! He is a handsome boy. Beautiful photos of Zenyatta and the short little video of RA running from another post was just so pretty. She is a happy girl too.
Thanks to all who make this one of the nicest if not “Z NICEST” places to visit on the internet.
Max
Glad that you enjoyed it.
