Dear fans,
As we make our way to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, we’re remembering Zenyatta’s incredible career and the memories that were made. Here’s a look back at some of these moments.
Watch the ceremony live at 10:30 am ET at drf.com or racingmuseum.org.
Thank you to the fans who have been there every step of the way.

Dear Celeste, Max and Z Fans:
Have been watching the races today from Saratoga’s Live Stream and the horses look comfortable. The day was overcast, but no rain. The last race just went off and a horse called Sneaky Fudge Face is leading (love that name).
Oh, poor baby didn’t last; finished 5th I think. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
It’s a little cooler today, but the rains are coming. Looking forward to The Travers. I love that race.

I think that Coz also resembles Z’s brother. DC is a good looking colt. He’s big just like his sister. It takes a while to handle that size on the track. He’s maturing nicely.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I agree. DC even has a little white “star” on his face like Cozzie. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy.Charlotte’s boyfriend Dean proposed again in the arena while watching her perform. They have had an 8yr engagement but went through a rough patch after the Olympics. Now they seem on course for the altar. She was very emotional at the medal ceremony Valegro of course was supreme.Confirmation tomorrow if Glesni has left no signs of her since Friday.A lot of ‘hiraeth’ when she leaves.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena:
Congrats to Charlotte and Dean. Maybe Glesni has started her journey to Africa. Godspeed to all the Ospreys. Love and Hugs, JB

Sheena, thanks for the update on Charlotte and Dean She and Valegro are my favorite dressage duo!! When I ride, I envision her posture. I wish I could ride like her!

Max: just viewed the video of DC….thanks so much! Knowing what was coming made me smile and brought back those memories when it did.! Thanks again.

Word out of Ballydoyle, the racing arm of Coolmore, is that De Coronado has learned a lot from his first race, and will be “a nice horse” as he continues to improve. That is Irish understatement for very good or even better. He has clearly made a big step forward from his first race. The young O’Brien, his jockey, said that DC was off the bridle the whole time in that first race, but was more professional this time out. Green still but he’s coming along nicely. I’m hoping that he does really well. He is the last of Verti’s babies. It is time to emulate his sister, whom the Irish call “the mighty Zenyatta.” They’re right.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Max,
Thanks for this update on De Coronado’s progress. Sounds like they are very pleased and that they appreciate his being the last of Vertigineux’s offspring — also, they respect “the mighty Zenyatta”, his most excellent sister.
Extra special Good Luck to DC — go get ’em, “little bro”
Cheers and Hugs!
Max
That little bro is huge. But I know what you mean. Love to see him do really well in his racing career.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Yes, I know DC is anything but little — I was making a little (and I do mean little) joke. Tee-Hee! ?

Cheers and Hugs

So happy Zenyatta is getting the recognition she so surely deserves. Wish I could have been present for all the celebrations. Take good care of my girl/princess.

The tide turns-it always does. Nothing stays the same, nor should it. Living and thriving comes from taking every experience and turning it to an advantage. Situations that appear impossible make us believe we will never be the same, We won’t be the same; we will be better. We will be better than we thought, because we say it. We will never be better than what we say. Saying makes it so. The law of life changes things. If we refuse to work with it, if we spend all our time worrying that we are going to be downgraded, we will. Be wise. Say what you want.
I am tired of talk that comes to nothing.

Dear Kathy.Life is all about change isn’t it?We have to with the flow.A lovely day in Wales.Glesni most probably left early Saturday morning.Since we lost Nora in 2012 I have always worried about their long journey.Monty is on the perch I think.I don’t know if you saw my message yesterday about the new male from Loch Doon who has spent most of the summer in Wales.Hopefully he will return next year.Mrs G and Maya haven’t left their nests yet.Aran is very fond of garfish!
Sooo excited for Valegro and Charlotte yesterday. She has posted a wonderful message on her FB thanking everyone especially her boy Blueberry to think I had to sit through the German’s routine before Valegro was declared winner was hell on earth!I am certainly not PC as you can guess! They were sheer perfection I had worried about the heat.It was absolutely pouring there last night and I learned about the dreadful floods in Louisiana.I think it has stopping raining now.Sad for them.
Bojo is in charge while Mother Theresa is away but he has to run everything by Larry first He has had a postcard from her!Larry makes a point of congratulating everyone who wins a medal. We are all so proud of our Little Island.Zoe has a lot to pray for.Was that Wimbley with his little teddy?I have posted a video of Kiara on my FB my gosh she has improved so much! They are working on Sasha’s leg now.I didn’t know 5 people have been murdered for unfriending someone on FB!!!They are getting a lot of power cuts with Dolly and they are not allowed on the sofas in the lounge to spread their floof A very dangerous place to live and Meowmie hasn’t been too well either.Hope you had a good Monday and enjoy today.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.The Ebor festival starts tomorrow at York!!
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Glad you’re enjoying nice weather. Godspeed, Glesni dear. The journey they make is remarkable. Hadn’t seen the post about the Loch Doon male. Will look it up. Too bad Aran did’t get Tegid’s garfish from the other day! Very excited for Valegro and Charlotte. I must say, though, Valegro should have received his own medal. The flooding in LA is awful. I read some of the people there were saying this flooding is worse than Katrina! That’s good that Mother Theresa is sending postcards to the bosses back home. Nice of Larry to congratulate all the medal winners. GB has done very well in the Olympics. You have a right to be proud! Zoe has had an onslaught of prayer requests. I think that was Wimbley with the Teddy. Such a cute pic! I’ll look for that Kiara video. Prayers Sasha gets better. Gosh, that’s a crazy story about murders for unfriending on FB! They went through the power cuts in Libya last year too. Those poor people! Hope Dolly’s mom feels better soon. Enjoy the Ebor festival! I wish you a good day as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

All of that osprey migration to foreign lands would be hard to take. Bald eagles have it better. They never have to leave the continent or show a passport. Some from Alaska winter in Washington state and British Columbia, where the living weather wise is not so bad at all.
sheena.davies(wales)
Only 30% of the chicks will survive their first flight. We have a new male who spent most in Wales called Elsa?? They thought at first she was a female but the name has stuck.A partner for auntie Blue maybe who happened to steal Tegid’s mullet yesterday!Sheena

I can see why you worry about Glesni. She would be better off staying in Yorkshire with the Moose.

I’m in a bit of an unreliable electronic zone but want to try to catch up a bit. Huge congratulations to Zenny and her connections. The Hall of Fame induction (as viewed on the DRF.com website – never could get the racing museum site to work) was awesome. Kudos to Ann and Jerry Moss for their gracious remarks! When Ann started to tear up, I think a lot of us joined her. It was great to see John and Dottie in the audience. Thanks to Celeste for her first-hand account. So glad you got to spend at least a little time with Z’s peeps. I met them at the BC Zenny party in 2012 and also experienced their warm and gracious personas in the midst of SO many people wanting a moment with them. Truly something I will never forget.
Thanks to Max for the DC video. Hope this is just the start of a great career for him.
Thanks to BGG and Judy B for all of the updates.
Also wondering about Ziconic – was looking forward to his turf debut. Hope someone will give us an update.
Congrats to all of the Olympic medalists – saw the video of Chatlotte and Vallegro. What can you say other than WOW!

On dark nights when the moon leaves the sky to glittering stars and fireflies settle in close to the earth, E lis i, Cherokee grandmother, would say a change was coming. The power of her words sent messages deep into our hearts. Grandmother had said many things, and to us she had always been right. But these same summer nights gave us peace as well. Sitting quietly as currents of cool air moved around us, we heard the night bugs, locust, and katydids, sawing their tunes that lulled us into reverie. All these years later, E lis i comes back to remind us change is inevitable, and most of it because of what we set before us in word and act and deed. She also told us to meet our responsibilities, to sing and give praise for all our gifts, and never to leave a mess behind. She loved us, she loves us, she speaks the word.

Dear Kathy. No money cannot buy anything especially health and love.Grandmother was wise.Another lovely day here good for the start at York.So sad to hear about Franklin D breaking a leg during his gallop this morning and getting euthanised. He had won at Glorious Goodwood and was a son of MDO the sire of Zenyatta’s foal forthcoming. All connections are shocked. They also own Big Orange.
Blue has Monty all to herself now and they are on the boing perch. There will be handbags at dawn next year I fear.He is her one true love!
I had to laugh at lots of Americans writing to Her Majesty to rescue the country if Trump wins.Have’nt they Mr Fibbs heard is bound to win? Mango has had some beautiful clothes made by Miss Donna for the Hero dog celebrations she really is hugely talented I cannot sew for toffee!Zoe had a great lunch and met a cubs fan it is Joke day with the ratties I am not good with jokesAnother great night at the Olympics for the UK I cannot seem to delete my errors today so excuse any mistakes! Our showjumpers crashed out and they had won gold in London. It was sad to hear about the dog attacking horse riders in Pembrokeshire A horse had be euthanised after he fell and broke a leg also 8 riders were injuredPeople should control their dogsI think he had come out of a garden I had to watch Valegro’s performance again Charlotte got really emotional towards the end and I cry too Looking to the big race at 3.40pm would love to see Postponed win .4yrs since Frankel won and seeing Sir Henry so ill that day Young Joe weighs well over 11st now!Hope you have a lovely day.It was Sebastian Parrots birthday yesterday and mummy is in Vienna shopping!.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Horrible news about Franklin D. RIP beautiful boy. Condolences to all his connections. Glesni, Monty, and Blue. The love triangle continues! Funny stuff, Her Majesty and the US. If we don’t like who wins we’ll all just have to do more turtling and eat more doughnuts! Yes, I saw those beautiful clothes Miss Donna made for Mango. She is VERY talented! I can do some mending, but anything I ever made I wouldn’t want to wear out in public! lol Zoe had a wonderful day from the sound of it. Didn’t get to read too many of the jokes. Not enough hours in the day! Glad the Team from the UK is doing so well. Too bad about the show jumpers! Horrible to read of that dog attack. Absolutely the owners should have controlled those dogs. It will be a long time before we see a team anywhere nearly as talented as Valegro and Charlotte. Enjoy the 3:40 race! Good luck Postponed! Have a great Hump Day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

And, congratulations to US Show Jumping team, with the silver! Wow.
The mare Azur is incredible! And she’s young!
All the horses are simply amazing. Love them. The French team got Gold and the Germans won a jump-off with Canada for Bronze. It’s such fun to watch!

Huge Congratulations to Team USA on capturing the Silver Medal in Jumping today. They were magnificent! Sorry that Beezie Maddon’s horse, “Tiny”, sustained a tendon injury and had to be withdrawn. They believe he will recover fully however.
Kent and Voyeur had a clear round with only a single time fault, Lucy Davis and Barron had 4 penalty points for a rail dislodged, and McLain Ward on Azur rode a perfectly clear round!
I was hoping that Canada (or Brazil) could hold on for the Bronze, but Germany got it after the jump-off with Canada. Boy, those are monster jumps! It’s amazing to see them sail over, especially when they attain such high clearance.
Here is a link to an article about the withdrawal of Beezie and Cortes C (“Tiny”):
http://www.usefnetwork.com/news/14318/2016/8/17/us_olympic_show_jumping_team_with.aspx
It includes a statement from Beezie and John Maddon which is very sweet.
Did anyone notice the handsome horse, Quabri De L’isle, ridden by Brazilian Pedro Veniss? He is a liver chestnut, gorgeous 12yr. old stallion.
Well, we have one more day to watch equestrian competition — Friday is the Individual Jumping Final on NBC. Can’t wait!!
Hugs and Love

Yes! I noticed Quabri De L’isle. What a knockout.
I’m also a big fan of Tiny so I was sad when he scratched. Hopefully he will be back!

Dear Sophia,
QDL is definitely a knockout!!
Yes, I hope Tiny recovers nicely without any problems. I think he may be 14 years old so perhaps it is possible to come back.

Individual is Friday. Only horse to go faultless in the team round is Fine Lady 5. She’s the smallest horse in the competition but she’s possibly the most courageous. Never gives up. Won last month at Achen. Her rider is Eric Lamaze of Canada. Good luck to this little Lady.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Good Luck to Fine Lady 5 and Eric Lamaze!
Courage knows no size limitations. :-)

Fine Lady is a US owned horse. Artisan Farms backs several members of the Canadian jumping team and has for years. They are based in Wellington, Florida.
