    March 12 Cherokee Devotional

This morning dew hung in crystal drops along the fence and sparkled in fragile spider webs stretched from grass to small shrubs-a rare glimpse of nature’s ornamental skills. Everything glistened in the early morning sunlight. Every plant and bush shows signs of spring, and buds are about to pop. Tiny flowers bloom in sheltered places and a green sheen covers the lawn and touches the trees, which are now ready to leaf out in abundance. We no longer have to endure cold weather, except for an occasional burst of wind and a pellet or two of sleet. This can be called prespring. If we hold on, we will soon enjoy mellow breezes and warm sunshine. Maybe the winter builds endurance in us. Our patience is sure to bring us joy and well-being. Spring will surely come if we wait.

The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man’s heart away from nature becomes hard.

Danzing Candy triumphs in San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Park
By Art Wilson, Correspondent, Pasadena Star News Posted: 03/12/16,
ARCADIA >> Last year, trainer Clifford Sise thought he had a legitimate Kentucky Derby contender when he brought Prospect Park into the San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita. He finished second that day, ran fourth in the Santa Anita Derby and then was taken off the Kentucky Derby trail because of illness
      Later in article
Danzing Candy went straight to the front, carved out fractions of 22.96, 46.11 and 1:11.04 under Mike Smith and was never seriously threatened, running the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.04 in what many considered the top Kentucky Derby prep in the nation this year.

    March 13 Cherokee Devotional

The prophet said there is a time for everything under heaven. A time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to live, a time to die. What he did not say is that what we believe about life makes all the difference.
Do we find good reasons to laugh-and not so good reason to cry? Do we see ourselves as losers, or are we equal to any challenge? Do we expect to be slaves, or do we know we are free to choose how we will live our lives? Sure, some people will try to impose certain images on us and try to make us think we are something that we are not, but don’t let that happen.
There is a time for everything, but what we think and say and do play a tremendous part in what we get. Even sickness, prosperity, and love come because we make room for them. Remember that how we act, think, and speak chooses much of our destiny.

    Look for benefits that last…

On this day in 1996 Thomas Hamilton entered the gymnasium at Dunblane primary school around 9.30am and 3-4 minutes later 16 children aged 5 and 6yrs plus their teacher Gwen Mayor were killed. He was known to police for his unhealthy interest in boys. The horror of that day was unimaginable for citizens not only in Scotland but the whole of the UK.In my lifetime there have only been 3 mass murders. We have had terrorists attacks of course and the troubles as they were called with the IRA bombings but this was a lone gunman with a grudge. We never forget these little children who died that day or the teacher who protected them and lost her life.Although the tragedy led to legislation to ban handguns the pain of that horrific day will never go away.RIP little ones.Safe in Jesus’s arms.Sheena

Dear Zenyatta, as I sat in church this morning my mind and my heart started going towards you. As you near the foaling process, I find myself pacing, being so happy, but also knowing I have to talk to God about you.
Faith, Hope and Love, Zenyatta I am putting my Faith in the Good Lord and praying so very hard that he will look after you and take care of you and the baby. Hoping so hard for an easy birth. And most of all I love you Zenyatta. Life is so fragile Z, as I pray on my knees I just try to lift you up to him and pray so hard that you and baby will be fine. As I pray I remember baby princess, and you know I Know she is fine.
Zenyatta Easter is only two weeks away. I hope you have an Easter baby but no matter when, Zenyatta praying so hard that everything will be fine. Love You forever.

This is the first time that I have found a full length video of Roberto, Zenyatta’s grandfather, winning against The Brigadier. It’s clear at the end of the video with a close up shot of Roberto that Z is in the image of her granddaddy. Ziconic and Coz, this is another example of how things get done so well by your family.

I read that Roberto was born at Darby Dan in Galloway, Ohio. His owner is the only one who has had both an Epsom Derby winner and a Kentucky Derby winner. John Galbreath was also born in Ohio. He owned the Pittsburgh Pirates. Roberto raced in Europe but he came home to do some of his best work, such as being the sire to Kris S.

      Dear Max,
Thanks a million for this link! It is the first time that I have ever seen Roberto in action. What a race! Brilliant performance. Zenny, there is definitely a family resemblance — beauty/handsomeness, distinctive ears and talent certainly do run in the family.

Here’s another of Roberto’s wins in England, perhaps the most prestigious English race of them all, the Epsom Derby. Look for the blaze.

I liked the pre race loading of the stalls. Liked the chestnut giving those guys a hard time. That was a long wait for some of the other horses. Big field too. Roberto was great in that race.

          Dear Max:

Yes, waiting like that can make them anxious. A great win in a very large field indeed. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy.A westie called Devon won the best in show at Crufts only 20 months old and a whippet got reserve. There was controversy about a poor GSD who’s back legs were almost on the ground and the judge gave her a prize These breeders are sick,So many people commenting they felt sick seeing her and they only devoted a couple of minutes to the subject on the programme.Lola will most probably need more surgery soon but she is fighting.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

      Dear Sheena:

Congrats to Devon and all the pups. I’m guessing that’s a German Shepherd your referring to. I always feel so sad when I see some of these Shepherds and how deformed their hind ends are. It’s cruel. Will keep Lola in my prayers. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

      Dear Sheena,
Beautiful little Westie, indeed! The Whippet is quite lovely, too. This was a fine lot of seven finalists. I must say that I have never liked the way the Pekingese breed is groomed, though — makes the dog look like a woolly-worm, IMHO. :-) Don’t get me started on the exaggerated “hairdos” of the shows!
Congratulations to the winners and to the finalists at Crufts. And all group winners, too.

      Hugs and Love

    Dear Zenny and Z Family,
We’re just back late this afternoon from Texas. My husband’s oldest brother passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s. His memorial service was just amazing. He was loved by so many people. Wonderful stories were shared, and so many people came. We all know he’s in Heaven now. Such an inspiring trip, though very sad also. We all loved him so much. Have missed everyone. Will look forward to catching up with everyone’s news, especially you, Queen Z. with love, Elizabeth
