Happy Mother’s Day!
Team Zenyatta headed to Lane’s End for the day and spent some time in the Kentucky rain with Momma Z and her colt. Z even gave some flowers to her human mom! We thought we would share a few of our Mother’s Day moments.
To all of the amazing mothers out there, all of the best to you and yours.

ODE TO ADORABLE TRINA
ON HER ANNUAL 30th BIRTHDAY
Countless hours have you logged,
Scribing words on Zenny’s blog,
Wishing others birthdays glorious
(from the saintly to the notorious).
Never a thought to yourself do you give;
Beneficence flows through you,
Like water through a sieve.
Joy and happiness do you give.
Surprises sweet do you send in the mail;
To your generosity, Mother Theresa pales.
A comforting shoulder you lend,
On which to weep;
Your words fall softly;
Promises you keep.
To each and every one,
You are a kind and trusted friend;
The compassion of your spirit,
Is a well which has no end.
You have the bluest eyes,
That I have ever seen;
Your presence on this site,
Does honour to our Queen.
Your presence in our lives,
Is a priceless gift and treasure;
The thanks and love
Which comes from us,
Is fully without measure.
And so today, dear Trina,
Quite lovely, sweet and true;
May all that you have given life,
Be returned in full to you.
Garlands of birthday greetings,
Do we wreath across your door;
The kindness you have shown to all,
Shall live in Zenny’s lore,
And in our hearts forevermore.
♥★♥★♥★♥★♥★♥★♥★♥★♥
Birthday blessings to you, sweet friend.

I was going through some papers this morning and came across this. I remember reading it some years ago and and smiling, tucking it away for future use. That time has come–“I wish to resign from adulthood. I want to think the world is fair and everything in it is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible. When I was growing up, I learned too much. I learned of nuclear weapons, starving and abused kids, illness, pain and mortality. I want to think that everyone, including myself, will live forever because I don’t know the concept of death. I want to live knowing that the little things I find exciting will always make me happy. I want to be naive enough to think that if I’m happy, so is everyone else. I want to be six again.” @Don-I miss you, old friend.

Understand. ♥
If the world were totally fair, there would be no nobility, or acts of heroism which take us to places which we thought we could never reach.
We do live forever. Just not here.

You are correct of course. The words are from the perspective of a six year old.

Terry,
What lovely thoughts and for me very true. Two years ago Sally B and another friend and I went Zip-lining. Now to see three old bags zipping thru the trees on a pulley, probablly boggles the minds of many. We had a ball and the kids in our group kept telling us how “cool” we were and that they hoped when they got to our age they could be so young at heart. I think you are that way too, and despite losing so many loved ones, you continue to make everyone laugh. I hope there are more like you and I in this Dumpling group! Hugs
Terry Crow GP
Sue-You did this in addition to riding a pogo stick? Your grand kids must really love you and so do the rest of us on the blog.
Sue Fredrick Co-P WI Chapt.
Terry,
No silly, Sally rode the pogo stick, but I did jump on the grandkids trampoline ( much to my regret, was sore for a week, however, they didn’t know that.) Gee, now that I think of it, I have done some pretty stupid things……but had a lot of fun, it just takes longer to recover!
Terry Crow GP
I stand corrected. You are the one who slipped on the banana peel.
signofthetimes; President Texas Chapter RNC
Great to be a member to the “redneck toddlers”, so very true from a 6 year old eyes.
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
Terry Crow, I hear you, if only.
I believe every adult who still thinks a little bit like a child and plays like a child(not in a sandbox or anything;however that would be okay if I still had my plastic horses and cowboys), lessens the pain or stress in their heart and keeps one young. Your that kind of guy Terry, our Grand ol’ Poobha!! hugs to you!
Sally B.
Terry Crow GP
Thank you, Sally. Now if I play in a sandbox the cat tries to cover me up.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Terry, I liked that quote too, I have seen it before, I think. I liked the idea of Sally’s sandbox, except we weren’t allowed to have one, because of cats… But I like the sentiment, and accordingly, have never quite grown up.
Whenever I read of “a new death in the family”, like Donna Summer this week, it kind of bums me out for a few days. Somebody I imagined would live 20 or 30 more years. I lost my oldest best friend almost 30 yrs. ago, and at that time, didn’t realize I was even depressed, until I started “coming out of it” six months later, and noticed the difference, I was still alive. A few others have passed on, since then, and it always brings it home.
But I am glad to be alive, and continue to try to improve my chances and my life, and enjoy each day, as much as possible. Some days that works better than others, I’m sure you know what I mean. We are very glad to have you here on Zenyatta’s site, both as Grand Poobah (or Pooba, which is funnier spelling) of the exalted Redneck Club, and also most definitely, as “Terry”.

This was an undercover investigation on the abuse and cruelty
of TW’s and was on TV last night. These people should be shot or better yet do the same to their feet, tails etc that has been done to these beautiful gentle horses.
OMG what kind of people are they? What can be done to help?
Does anyone know? Lord have mercy on these poor animals.

HeidiK (Vallejo, Ca)
When my sister lived in Louisiana, she worked for a Tennesse Horse trainer. She used to tell me about some of the things they would do to the horses and how many of them were almost impossible to deal with. I’ve always known that they broke the horses tails and put weights on the front feet but, never have I seen or heard anything about what this Guy was doing! What a shame and he should never ever be allowed to be around any animals again! I so feel for the horses that suffered under his care. Or, lack there of.
Back in the day when I showed Quarter Horses, many trainers would break their tails so they would lay flat. I was just a kid then but, I remember asking my Dad why they did it and if we should do it too. He told me NO!! He said: “Heidi, that is a very cruel thing to do to any animal!”
Learning that at such an early age, really makes my Heart Break for those horses that have to endure ANY MISTREATMENT!
Terry Crow GP
Heidi-Sounds like your father was very ethical and a man to be proud of.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Clearly, I am naive, it never occurred to me people would do that to a horse — just how could anyone imagine it could be ok to break a horse’s tail? EVER. Since when is inflicting pain on any animal, unnecessarily — i.e., for monetary gain — “a good thing”?
Jan S. / Houston, TX
Thank God this cruel abuse was found out and exposed to the public. People like this and I’m sorry for saying this should be shot in the head point blank. Our animals suffer for pure greed and profit.
Terry Crow GP
Jan-Point blank is too good for them. How about the legs first then the arms, then, well you know.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
McConnell’s utter disregard for the horses pain, is so disgusting. A sick, sick person, bereft of his own abandoned humanity. Seemingly only fear for his own skin, gets a response from him now.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
“String him up, and use him for a Pinata!” suddenly popped into my mind. Except I couldn’t stand it, either.

Anne-I am still working on your talking horse joke. In the meantime here is a short one. A man in the old west was driving a stagecoach. Suddenly, a man riding a horse pulled up to the left side of the stagecoach and a rider-less horse pulled up on the right. The rider leaned down, pulled open the door and jumped off his horse into the stagecoach. Then he opened the door on the other side and jumped onto the other horse. Just as he was riding off, the driver called out “What was that about?” The horse on the other side of the stagecoach replied “Nothing. It’s just a stage he’s going through.”

Here are today’s redneck jokes. You might be a redneck if your kids trip over the Christmas lights while hunting for Easter eggs. You might be a redneck if your neighbors think you are a detective because a cop always brings you home. You might be a redneck if cockroaches get into everyone’s trash but yours. You might be a redneck if you own more than two clappers. You might be a redneck if your walker has a gun rack. You might be a redneck if most of your teeth are on a chain around your neck. You might be a redneck if you have ever worried about your outhouse freezing. You might be a redneck if you have ever shaken hands with the Tidy Bowl man.

As usual, I’m late to the party! TRINA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You so deserve the best day ever. I have my “Trina Special” preserved for all time. I’ll never forget how thoughtful you were in our chats, guiding me along so I blabbed my brains out to you – LOL You are one special lady, that’s for sure. The poems displayed here today are so filled with love and real feelings for you. There’s a poet in everyone; some have God’s hand on them and you are clearly touched by that hand. But every poem written from the heart, as those were today, touches another heart. No poet could ask for more. Fabulous job, everyone, for the fabulous Trina. Happy Day, Trina.
Love, Margie –
P.S. Karen, your video rocks!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Trish from VA– I couldn’t watch the link because animal abuse makes me physically sick. It is the kind of thing that we deal with every day in Equi-Army. The best thing to do is to EXPOSE this evil every time it happens. Bring it out into the light, sign every petition, donate every time you can for rescues to get those poor ones out of such slime-pits, pray without ceasing, and SOMEDAY maybe the tide of incivility will turn.
It’s a sure thing that as long as people turn a blind eye, it will continue.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Barbara, it was awful to see, agreed I wouldn’t want to repeat it, but I am glad i did see, because it just doesn’t enter my mind, what people can do. The proof and the exposure are key! Otherwise it’s all hidden, which is what the perps want. These people are “dead”, inside, unable to feel.

Dear Sign:
Thank you so much for that terrific video of the Stallions at Three Chimneys Farm. These are people who are really doing the right thing by these horses.
As the exercise rider said some of them aren’t interested, but for the stallions that enjoy and look forward to their morning jogs, I think it benefits them both mentally and physically. All the farms should follow Three Chimney’s lead. I think some of the stallions bad dispositions might just improve. Hugs, JB
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
Sign, and absolutely LOVING your job!! I am envious but I can not go back in time with all those wishes. He loved those horses which is awesome to see. I have been to Kentucky stallion barns twice, but couldn’t get to Three Chimneys, bad timing. It is on my list!!
Especially Horses / Southern California
What an informative interview. Brian really provided insight into many wonderful stallions. I wish I could spend a day with him, starting with watching him ride in the morning. I enjoyed learning that Point Given just isn’t interested in being ridden anymore and made it known by continuously rearing.
Does anyone know if galloping the stallions is the norm at most farms or is this unique to Three Chimneys? It seems to be such a healthy thing to do for them mentally and physically.
sharon in seattle
that was wonderful ! Is Three chimneys the only place that exercises it’s stallions like that? yes, what a delightful guy – he’s really “learned” those horses to incredible detail – like he said about Point Given, “he just didn’t want to play the game any more” and so be it !!
