Happy Friday!
We close off a quiet week with a few fun photos, courtesy of Alys. Zenyatta and her boys are delighting in the final days of spring. Break out the fly masks, here come the dog days of summer. As you can see, Coz has found a new way to keep himself entertained, it’s called a Jolly Ball. The farm likes to give them to horses that like to stay busy. Coz loves his!
Best of luck to all those participating in the Belmont Stakes. Have a great weekend.
Enjoy!

good looking colt there.
shirleeinindy
It really puzzles me why people are so negative on the Stonestreet facebook page. They seem to get a lot of nasty comments. I don’t know if they don’t like Rachel or Ms. Banke but it is shameful and Stonestreet could very well just shut it all down.
I love both Rachel and Zenyatta and feel I can be a loyal fan of both. The Z Blog is a joyous thing and the photos and videos are the start of most of my days. Yet, I go to Stonestreet to check on Rachel and all of their horses.
Lynn Martin
Wondering if I am seeing something that is not there, perhaps just the angle of the photo of Jess’s Dream. Looks like the front legs are not straight, but go backward from knee down. Was he just starting to step? is this part of the training, to stand absolutely still when being photoghraphed so things look just as they are in real life? I just finished a book about Seabiscuit and that was one of his physical “faults”, the bent front legs, but did not keep him back at all!
Terry Crow
Most of the success stories in which a bidder acquires a horse at a relatively cheap price at an auction is when the experts pass on a horse which has such a minor flaw. Seabiscuit is a good example, although he was not bought at an auction. Even Zenyatta was perceived to have a flaw which contributed to her bargain selling price.
Ann NC
Diamonds in the rough,TC. All it takes is a little spit shine.
Diana Stuart - Bucked knees
Lynn:
The photo does show the knees are “bucked” if that is in fact how he actually stands. I’d want to see another photo, where his weight is equally distributed on both front legs, and he isn’t perhaps just about ready to make a step. As Terry notes, many champions have some flaws in conformation. Some are really serious, others not so much. If I had to choose between bucked knees verses back at the knee, I’d choose the former, even though I don’t like either.

Lady Jane sends out runners as planned
By Jon Lees Racing Post 13 JUN 2013
SIR HENRY CECIL’S Warren Place stable will have its first runners since the death of the ten-time champion trainer when five horses run on Thursday under the name of his widow Lady Jane as part of a programme mapped out by the late trainer.
Even up to his death on Tuesday from stomach cancer, Cecil was said to be making entries and drawing up plans for his string, which his staff are determined to follow through with runners at Leopardstown, Newbury, Nottingham and Yarmouth.
Lady Cecil has been granted a temporary licence by the BHA which could stay in place at least until the end of the season and among her first runners are Tickled Pink, the Abernant Stakes winner who contests the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes in Ireland, and Morpheus, Frankel’s half-brother who runs in a maiden at Nottingham.

Dear Shirlee,
I totally agree with you! So sorry that horseracing has lost such an outstanding jockey/gentleman, but would rather see his untimely retirement than a possibly catastrophic re-injury. All the very best wishes to him in whatever new endeavors he pursues — I think we will see him again in equine-related venues.

Skip Over Trouble
Hi I am the founder of Skip Over Trouble Equine Rescue and I would like to personally thank each and every one of the Z-sters for your thoughts, prayers & support for Faith & Fredrick the First (freddy.) We love our horses and the many other animals we have here including Izzy the iquana ( well getting used to her anyways.) Faith will never be forgotten and she left us with 2 beautiful colts , freddy being the youngest. Freddy is getting along pretty well as we have a old brood mare here we named Poka (stacy ferris loves poka !) and poka loves her new job as foster mom ! We will be working with Topper (faiths yearling colt) to get him gental enough to have him gelded. We don’t care what breed, age or training they have if they need us and we have the room & support we will take them in..We also have 3 mares here all approx the same age of 2 yrs old..then Koda a redroan BLM Geld. I seen on his paperwork he was not captured until he was 10 yrs old, he is now 17yr old. We took him in because he was called dangerous. He is not dangerous just scared ..who knows what he went though in the 7 yrs being passed around but he is safe here now. Not trained to ride but we just enjoy his beauty ! We have a couple of paint mares one of which is up for adoption the other is our personal horse. Then there is the Queen..LOL Lady Tia she is a qh/arab mix that I have owned for 21 yrs , she is now 27yrs old and they queen..everyone follows lady .. Zorry I love talking about our kids ! I would love to join you Z-sters on here but please understand I don’t know anything about racing so maybe you can teach me..We are not show people either just good old trail riders so you might lose me on the lingo but I will catch one ..Thank you again for all your help & love for Faith & Freddy !! Penny Crosby , Citra Fl
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Welcome Penny! A lot of us didn’t know anything about racing before Zenyatta somehow entered our lives and hearts. This is a great group of folks who are eager to share their knowledge and insights. Condolences on the death of Faith, but BRAVO for saving her, Freddy, and Topper. We will love hearing about your kids and hope you enjoy the ride with us! :-)

All: I’m not on FB, but for those of you who are, below is the link for Skip Over Trouble’s FB page. Lots of nice photos of the babies that Penny mentions.
Welcome Penny! Without Zenyatta, the huge number of people here wouldn’t have met – “virtually” or in real life. Had we not all met, all the horse welfare work and rescue work that many of us have started doing wouldn’t have happened. Had the welfare and rescue work not happened, I wouldn’t have Stacy’s “Hoot” in my care, and we wouldn’t have been able to follow and help when you took in Faith and her babies. Your arrival here completes a wonderful circle and I hope you will continue to be present from time to time with updates on your horses. And the iguana too – we love ’em all.

You may be a far cry from race horses but many here are also invovled in rescue and we all share the love of these beautiful creatures. I hope you had a chance to read all the heartfelt comments and prayers that were sent for our dear valiant Faith, and it warmed your heart. Hope you can stop in once in a while and visit with these great welcoming people, we all try to lift each others spirits when someone has a problem, all in the name of our beloved mare, Zenyatta. love and hugs

You are SO very welcome! We all learn something new on this site almost every day. Lots of us here are novices in the world of equines, both racing and non-racing, but we all love Zenyatta and equines, in general. I have adored horses since childhood. The people on this site are so supportive, warm and caring — after all, fans of Zenyatta most certainly would be kind, and they love all creatures, great and small, too.
Please join us as often as you can! Thank you for all the loving work you do for these beautiful souls! Hugs

Here is another talking horse joke. This is an old chestnut, but some may not have heard or read it. Three race horses were in the stable area waiting for the big race, in which they all were to participate. Each horse decided that it would try to psych out the other two. The first horse said to the other two “I’ve been in 28 races and I’ve only lost three.” The second horse said “Well, I’ve been in 32 races and only have one loss. I even almost beat Zenyatta.” The third horse then said “I’ve won 15 in a row and have never been beat.” Just then, the horses heard somebody laughing. They turned around and a greyhound was at the door. The greyhound walked up to them and said “That’s nothing. I have been in over 300 races and won them all by at least three lengths.” With that having been said, the greyhound walked out of the stable area. The three horses then all looked at each other and shook their heads. The first horse then said “Can you believe that? That’s amazing. A talking dog!”

Hi there everyone!
I’ve been preoccupied trying to write Part 1 of my coverage of Royal Ascot this year for THE VAULT. It’s been driving me CRAZEEE!!!! Between defections & horses jumping out of one race to go to another, and therefore incomplete racing fields, I had to re-write parts of this 3 times. I can’t quite figure out why everything is so slow to gel this year across the pond….but I suspect it’s about Animal Kingdom and Camelot driving off the competition. LOL.
Any way, here’s Part 1:
