Zenyatta News

How Fun Was That!

Zenyatta picking winners at Lane’s End Farm. Photo by Alys Emson.

Zenyatta danced, posed and ate lots of cookies as she helped Ande Farish Day, whose idea it was to include her, in picking 10 winners to come and visit with her. Time with her fans is Zenyatta‘s favorite!

Thanks to everyone who shared in the fun and participated in the raffle. Because of you we can make a real difference for many Off The Track Thoroughbreds at The Secretariat Center during their rehabilitation, retraining, and rehoming to new careers and/ or lives.

All of Lanes End and especially Zenyatta look forward to welcoming the winners. Big Congratulations! And please be on the lookout for an email from Lanes End.

Also, Zenyatta Stickers are in the process of being mailed out, so please be patient with us. We look forward to seeing our winners in Kentucky very soon!

Just saw in Bloodhorse an article reporting that Midnight Bourbon died
about three hours after a workout Sunday morning at Churchill Downs.
Possibly due to acute gastrointestinal distress — but quite quickly.
RIP brave beautiful boy. Gone way too soon. You were exciting to watch, and we loved you. Run free with the angels. Condolences to all who mourn.

The BLM(aka Bureau of Livestock and Mining), is going after the Pryor Mountains herd. If you want to comment, go to the Cloud Foundation website. You know the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? This is it.q

Remember Zippy Chippy. He’s the gelding that ran in 100 Claiming races and never won. He retired to Old Friends Cabin Creek in NY where he was visited by many adoring fans. He passed away at the Golden age of 31 last Friday.

Hope you win a whole bunch of races in Heaven just for fun beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

RIP Green Light Go, another one gone much too soon.
Only 5 years old and trained by Jimmy Jerkens, he sustained a
sesamoid injury to his right foreleg. It was unfixable so he was

    Dear Ann and Z Fans:

Here’s a video from BloodHorse with Masa Matsuda, exercise rider for Crown Pride, Kentucky Derby contender from Japan. CP was being schooled from the starting gate at Churchill to get used to the bell, which they don’t use in Japan. He was startled, threw Matsuda and bolted away. He was caught by an outrider quickly. They tried again and he broke from the gate fine.

He’s a beautiful, almost true black, great grandson of Sunday Sulence. He has relatives in common with Z in his pedigree too in Halo and Hail to Reason.

Congratulations to the winners. Zenyatta, I was hoping to be a winner so I can see you again. It has been 11 years. I have special memories when I visited you at Hollywood Park. I was so lucky that afternoon . There was only one other visitor so I took a lot of pictures with you. You were so gracious and friendly. And the groom taking you for your afternoon walk, Salvador , was so nice to us. I wonder if he is still with John S. I could tell Zenny , you loved having your pictures taken. And you enjoyed being under that tree in front of Barn 55. That was the luckiest day of my life. Stay healthy and happy. Love and hugs. Marilu💖
