We all appreciate very much what Dottie has created, bringing the voice of Zenyatta to her multitude of fans. We can also appreciate just how much work went into completing over a year’s worth of daily dairy entries, describing from November 1, 2010 the transition of a tremendous race horse to becoming a broodmare and, today, a successful one with a healthy colt by her side. For all of this we are grateful. Grateful, as always, for being blessed with owning this great mare since she was a yearling. Grateful for the treatment and training she received form John Shirreffs, Mike Smith and the great people at Barn 55. Grateful for all the terrific people at Lane’s End Farm, her current care-takers, doing what they do everyday for Zenyatta.
And certainly grateful to Dottie, our racing manager, who emerged to describe Zenyatta’s thoughts as if she could write them herself.
Well done Zenyatta!
And well done, Dottie!
With this website, we will do our best to continue to inform you of what’s happening in Zenyatta and her colt’s lives. Stories of interest will be published periodically with photos and news flashes as the events dictate. It probably won’t make up for the daily Diary that told her story so very well, but in the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy Zenyatta.com. We appreciate how much this community means to Zenyatta’s fans just as we appreciate how much all of you mean to her.
With gratitude,
Ann & Jerry Moss

Thank you so, so much Mr. and Mrs. Moss and Zenyatta’s web team!! We have been heartbroken and your letter has helped us so much! It just felt so sudden, but now it feels like we will be able to keep up with Zenyatta and each other. Thank you!

Everyone involved with Zenyatta have been so wonderful to all us fans. Keeping us informed of her daily life from a racing queen to a new mom has been wonderful and the posts were something I looked forward to every day. I understand how hard and time consuming it has been for Dottie and understand the need to stop the daily posts.
Thank you Ann and Jerry Moss and Team Zenyatta for all you do to keep her in my life.. I am so glad to know that this page will update with new photos and news items for Zenny and her son and future babies.
Shannon From Cool, CA
Thank you to Jerry and Ann Moss for their note.
At least now we know that we’ve not come to the end of the road.
As long as we get some updates, that will make us all happy.
It was quite a shock this morning, I must say.
The outpouring of emotional response was amazing today.
What a crowd we make!

Really sorry to see the DIARY go. We loved to hear about Zennie’s days through the eyes of Dottie. She did a fantastic job and kept us all interested in Zennie’s daily goings on. We are all looking forward to checking in on her as many of us do, and certainly looking forward to her little Zen-ardini growing and thriving. Perhaps become the best race horse of all time. Take good care of them. We love them!

Dear Ann and Jerry ♥
Thank you for taking the time to write this open letter. I’ve always said you are a Class Act!
Thank you for Zenyatta! Thank you for sharing her with us! I have wonderful memories of my time with her at Barn 55. I have a great photo of both of you standing with my friends and I. We were wearing our pink Zenyatta jerseys as The Queen stood behind us with her head held high :D
Zenny filled the void of a personal loss. She IS truly God sent! God bless you. God bless Little Prince B/Z {{hugs}}
Sincerely,
Judy Maass Gadwood
p.s. See you at the race track – after all, we are called “Stalkers” LOL

p.s. I guess I won’t get fired after all. My boss caught me reading the diary today and scolded me: “Quit spending time reading that horse stuff and get some work done!” Sorry, he doesn’t get it (wink wink)

I just wrote about that day Judy, down below under “Nancy/Ca” I still pinch myself remembering it! Or the day Dottie put our picture in the diary of us standing in Z’s stall! I acutally screamed out loud when I got Whitney’s email about it! lol Oh my….*sniff*

I am so sad to hear that the diary will no longer be updated, but I know all of us Zenyatta fans will still cling to this website for all the news that is Queen Z!
Will we be updated when Tasty has her foal? Or did she already but I just missed it?
I will truly miss the diary posts. It was the first thing I checked every morning when I got up. And when I heard she had a colt (23 seconds after the diary post was made :) ) I was ecstatic! I will be keeping a close eye on this little one and all the foals to come from this absolutely amazing mare. I love you, Zenyatta! The thrill you brought to Horse Racing will never go un-missed!
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Moss for bringing such an amazing mare to this sport and putting that thrill we were all yearning for! And thank you Dottie for being gracious enough to keep us updated daily on this truly magnificent champion!

This diary has been so very important in providing detailed, but easily understood, information about Zenyatta’s transition from champion race horse to mother, and in bringing together so many people. This amazing chronicle must be included in any telling of the story of her life and when a movie is made, excerpts should be used. It is truly a wonderful tribute to the mare and her connections, those who care for her on a daily basis, everyone involved in the stages of her life, her devoted fans, and Miss Dottie, the voice of Zenyatta.
Susan
And we are grateful to the entire Zenyatta team for sharing so much of the great mare’s life with us. Special thanks to Dottie for the daily diary and to the Mosses for making it all possible. All the connections simply radiate love and generosity of spirit. And we thank you!
Nancy
We in Cali love and miss her so much, this was our only connection to make sure she was alright after she left. Thank u for keeping us posted because it meant a lot once she left us here. I have been truly blessed to have be able to have her in my present ! Please keep us here who still miss her posted. We love her so.

Thank you so much Dottie for sharing this Diary with us. Many friendships were formed on here because of it! And thank you so much Mr & Mrs Moss for sharing Zenyatta with us all! You have truly been ambassadors to the sport and have made yourselves and your horses approachable so we all feel as if we are a part of it! We are lucky that we live in southern California and get to visit Zenyatta’s family and team! We may not have the Diary anymore but I knew that they would keep us up to date on our Queen!
See you soon at the track everyone!

Dottie , I would like to thank you so much for all of your hard work. It is been the highlight of my day ever since the very first post. All of you have worked so hard to make all of us feel like a part of Zenyatta’s everyday life and gave me the opportunity to feel so close to her. I feel like I know her and all of you! Thank you for that. She has had such an impact on me and my life. I will follow her from now on no matter what she is doing. I can honestly say that I love her just like she was my own..I feel like I have a bond with her and that is because of the wonderful gracious people in her life! So thank you…thank you all for sharing her and her life. You are so lucky to have her and know her but something else I have learned is that she is so lucky having you for her family. I can see in your faces and from your comments she means so much to you. You didn’t recieve a phone call telling you she had foaled….you were there waiting and spending time with her. She is such an amazing girl and there will never be another one like her. So once again I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! God bless each and everyone of you!
Nancy/Ca.
Thanks for your continuing kindness to her fans! One of the incredible things about Zenyatta is how kind she is for a racehorse, but I’m so often reminded here and elsewhere how that describes everyone from Team Zenyatta for doing this for horseracing, and all of us! I’ll be looking forward to watching her little Prince grow up,brings tears to my eyes seeing how much Zenyatta loves being a mom after being such a kick ass racing girl here in SoCal! Wow,the memories I have going to her races and getting to meet Z at barn 55 and getting to feed her a carrot! You both were there along with Dottie, you all were so nice while the 4 of us were so calm while totally spazzing on the inside! lol Thank you so much again for sharing her thru the years,I still laugh when I remember I couldn’t find a picture of her anywhere online when I first heard of her, thanks to Marcie Heacox the photographer I finally found 2 great ones! We sure miss seeing her here but it’s so heartwarming to see how well she’s doing back there….I will always love you Zenyatta :)

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Moss:
Thank you for allowing us to share Zenyatta’s journey with us. You have done so much for racing, Thoroughbreds, and all horses. More than you will ever realize. Through Zenyatta and her fans, I have connected to several horse charities that care for and rescue unwanted horses. If not for you , Dottie and Zenyatta, I would not have been able to find them.
I believe Zenyatta is a gift from the Almighty, an Angel in horse pajamas and her wings tho invisible are still real and her impact on peoples lives bring blessings to each.
Sincerely,
Maryann

I will truly miss the daily posts! But thank you for all the work and the time to make it happen. In a world where there is little to hang any hope of the future on, it was a light in my day. I am not young and was like a little kid when for Christmas I got a Zenyatta hat and Breyer Horse.. It was quite an event when the Prince was born and we celebrated here. I only ask that you continue to post pictures and news from time to time. Just saying her name makes me smile….Thank you!

We all have appreciated the way that the Mosses, the Shirreffs, Lane’s End, and everyone else connected to Zenyatta have allowed us into her life, and to take part in it. We will all miss her and Dottie’s postings.
Now, as she enters another stage of her life, maybe we could all honor her (and her connections) by making a donation–in Zenyatta’s name–to a horse rescue, off-track retraining facility, or horse retirement farm. We all know of many worthy organizations, and the Mosses support many. This would be our way of saying ‘thank you’ to Team Z for allowing us to share this special mare (and now her colt) with them. And, it would also help other horses, in her name.
Dava R.
Thank you so much for sharing this part of Zenyatta’s life with all of the world. The many posts have enriched all of our lives in many ways. May God bless all of you and Zenyatta as she starts a new life as a superstar to her newborn colt.
Nancy
Thank you for this community, it has meant so much to many people. It had to have much effort to make it so, I am grateful for being able to come to this site. Zenyatta and team thank you so much. Long live the QUEEN!!

Ann & Jerry, thank you so much for advising us of the up date once in awhile. We thank Dottie for keeping us informed up till now and we really appreciate it. I know how much she also loves Zenyatta. We will be looking forward to anything you can share of Zenyatta and her beautiful Colt. Zenyatta’s Diary has been so much fun and also has made me feel so close to her. Thanks so much. Jerry and Ann. You are so very gracious and loving to all us fans. You have shared Zenyatta with us and I love you and honor you for this gift. I will always be chasing any horse you buy and watch each and every one. Zenyatta brought my late husband and I so many thrilling races. I was sad because there will not be daily posts, but now you have calmed my anxieties and I will look forward to anything you post. Zenyatta got into my heart with intense love. Thank you all for being so giving, you have changed racing and I have made some good friends because of the posts. I love all of you for being the kind of people that deserve everything good coming your way. God bless you and gorgeous Zenyatta and her incredibly beautiful colt.

What a beautiful letter. It is very sad, and I only hope you will miss it as much as we will and will bring it back, even if it is a weekly event. Please dont take Zenyatta away from us completely. We love her almost as much as you, but if you choose too, we will understand. Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful days and sharing the love. You all are amazing.
Thank you again. Hope Tasty is ok too.
Love you Momma Z and Baby Z too

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Dottie and Z’s Web Team:
Thank you so much for so graciously letting us be a part of Z’s life on a daily basis for the last thirteen and a half months. Thank you for that wonderful video of you, Z and her beautiful colt. Will look forward to updates on Z and her son. Thank you again. Z is very special to us; we love her. Judy and Russ Berube

I often imagined that her posting would have come down to a weekly thing. Zenyatta would post a letter every Friday to her fans. The posting would summarize her week on the farm, then wishing everyone a great weekend, until next Friday…
I never thought it would go away like this, especially not even a week after her giving birth to her beautiful baby. Thank you for the ride and allowing us into her life.
Signed,
Disappointed & heartbroken
Misty
I am deeply saddened that the daily diary will be going away. I always looked forward to reading it! However, if you need a volunteer to help….I would LOVE to do it!!! :D

To Mr. and Mrs. Moss:
This is a heartfelt thank you for sharing Zenyatta with all of us. What a wonderful time we have all had, and I sincerely hope that you realize just how much joy that Team Z has brought to us all of these past few years. I will continue to watch for updates, and Zenyatta will forever be in my heart.
Bless you both, Mr. John Shirreffs, Dottie, Mike Smith, Mario, Steve Willard, Lane’s End, and everyone else connected with this wonderful Mare, and now little Colt Z. None of you will be forgotten!

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Moss,
There are just not enough words in my humble vocabulary to express how grateful I feel that you have been so generous and kind to share your wonder mare with us for such a long time. You are beautiful people and you give so much honor to the sport of horse racing. I have enjoyed and appreciated all the effort Dottie and your web designers have put into Zenyatta’s Diary and it has meant a lot to me to be able to participate in such a small way in sharing the same world as this beautiful mare. Your message this evening letting us know the web-site will continue gives me such a great lift to my spirits and once again I will say thank you for sharing your beautiful Zenyatta with those of us who love her from afar. Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.
Kim
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved with letting us into the life of this extraordinary mare. When she retired I was relieved but also worried that she would be taken care of by people we did not “know”. By letting us keep in touch with Zenyatta it made me feel that we had not, in fact, lost her upon retirement. And now I fully trust the people at Lanes End and I believe we all are looking forward to seeing the development of the little prince. Thank you all again!
