Praying His best in your life.

Of course, we will all pray for you. So sorry you are having pain and problems sleeping. Nothing worse than being awake when all the rest of the world seems to be asleep. Hope you are feeling better soon and that this Blog gives you some relief on the bad days. One look at Zenyatta and the Princess always makes me smile.
God bless you and may you feel His loving arms around you.
Sheena and TC. There is nothing like an Egyptian curse to focus the mind. Like those old mummy movies with Boris Karloff. This particular curse allegedly applied only to those who entered Tut’s tomb. Howard Carter the American archaeologist who was in charge of the excavation somehow managed to escape its effects. A cobra however ate his canary. Carnarvon’s two half brothers died somewhat strangely shortly after the Earl’s death, which is cited as blood poisoning from a cut which occurred while shaving.
Free the Moose. Power up Danny.
Terry Crow
I always thought that The Mummy was Karloff’s greatest performance. After all, he actually had dialogue in that one, more than in Bride of Frankenstein. Love those old “horror” movies, especially the all star ones like House of Frankenstein and House of Dracula. I really liked the scene when they found the mummy and one of the archeologists uttered some words from the scroll buried with the mummy and the taped one came to life. All the guy did was yell and then start laughing. When they found him, he said “he went for a little walk.”
Terry Crow
I should add this at this time. Trina and I went to a Halloween get-together a few years back at which the guests were Bela Lugosi, Jr. and Mary Karloff, Boris’ daughter. I had a great time talking with these two and she agreed with me on The Mummy. I also asked Bela, Jr. what he thought of a movie named Ed Wood, in which Martin Landau won an oscar for playing his father. He said that he thought it was a terrific portrayal of the “older” Bela Lugosi. I let it go at that.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
I loved all those old horror movies too. Do you all remember “House Of Wax” I liked that one too.
Terry Crow
Thanks, Peggy. I had forgotten Vincent Price. A truly nice man.
Chrome’s jockey, Victor Espinoza, appeared on Good Morning America, and said C.C. has had great workout times during training. He also showed Michael Strahan how to do some limbering up exercises which was hilarious to watch as Mr. Espinoza is at least two feet shorter than the gigantic Mr. Strahan!
Dear Terry.Have been googling the Carnarvons,it was the 5th Earl who was the financial backer in the search for King Tut’s tomb.He died, they say, from blood poisoning after shaving and nicking a mosquito bite.If I remember correctly there was a story his dog died in the UK at the same time.He also established the Highclere stud.A lot happened at that time as I’m sure you know .A curse, who knows?Hugs Sheena.

This man is remarkable at any age, but at 17 he is incredible. I won’t call him a boy. he has been through too much already in his life. Thanks for posting, Kathy.
Dear Judy and Terry: Harry is just so determined – he had to pull out of his rides a few weeks back because of weakness and bleeding, but went in for one of his stints in hospital, and is now back. The trainers he rides for have trouble trying to take care of just how often he rides, and travels to ride, but he doesn’t want to get the special treatment, and just keeps pushing. Always think of Harry if I’m feeling sorry for myself. Hugs, KathyR
Dear Max.My mum was a big fan of any horror movies as a child! She loved the world of the unexplained.Films these days are so graphic they should remember less is more.I was very fond of Alfred Hitchcock films who can ever forget the shower scene in “Psycho”!!

Sheena. Peter Cushing is a favorite of mine. Like his work. Also Christopher Lee.
You are right. There is far too much graphic violence in movies and television these days. We need to respect life and other people.
I see that Declaration of War is setting out to win against Cirrus at Epsom. We’ll see. That French horse is a wise old warrior.

Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were also favorites of mine. I always looked forward to the Hammer Films horror movies. Also enjoyed Cushing as Sherlock Holmes., although Basil Rathbone was the man in that role. Lon Chaney, Jr. was also one of my guys. The last time he played the Wolf Man in a film was Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, a pretty funny spoof film that also had Dracula in it. The monster was played by Glenn Strange, who was the bartender in the Gunsmoke series.

I was told that Coz probably would leave in May for further training, It’s early June so I was expecting if he hadn’t left already he would shortly.
Hoping we will get some pictures soon. “Wish, Wish”
So cute about Tiznow opening his stall door. I think I told you this before. But the day I went to Three Chimneys, Didn’t get to see Dynaformer, the girl told us that he was in a far back field and they were not going to bring him back up. Sounded like he was getting some good Paddock time to me.
At the sell this past spring in Florida. The descendant thatI saw of Riva Ridge, wow did I think he was going to work his way out of that stall he was in. There was no one close paying any attention to him. I though seriously that I might better get back as he was sure working that latch. He wanted out of there big time. Kicking the ground too.
Beautiful Boy.
It is curious. Surely we will know something officially soon. I believe we will get pictures.
I know everyone at Mayberry Farm is sure going to hate to see him leave. I knew if we got a picture of him getting on the van or plane I was going to cry.
When you think about it, The Mosses and John have probably thought out and planned the training for Coz. For now, they may want to just stay below the radar to keep expectations in check considering his mom is Zenny. Sure they know how excited we all get which can add to the pressure especially for John. For now, let’s go California Chrome! Love you and your connections. You deserve to win!

Chrome got the number 2 post position just like his great, great, great granddad did in 1973. Coincidence? I think not. Big Red is watching you C.C.! And the spookiness continues: Chrome was the number 5 horse at the Derby and the number 3 horse at the Preakness. Guess who had those same numbers?

Terry, I think that Muchie is injured or sick. There have been no pics or any news about him on his facebook page for quite sometime. Nothing much after his last race. Finally they posted that he was “resting up.”
Glad I am partial to the Curlin boys especially since Lea is also out with illness. According to Claiborne, he is having a holiday at Fair Hill.
Max
shirlee. Your Muchie had a long campaign last year and started early this year. They are probably letting him have some time off. If the horse is to peak for the BCC, he needs some down time. He’ll probably be back for or just before Saratoga.
Terry Crow
If Wayne Lukas was training him he would have at least four starts under his belt this year. I really don’t understand why a horse of this caliber would have only two starts so far this year unless he is injured. Didn’t he run in all three triple crown races the year he was eligible? And, he is a late foal on top of that. Nothing against Kathy Ritvo, but it appears she doesn’t want to tip her hand to the other trainers. Hard to keep a secret at the track, however.
Max
TC. Still think that they are resting him. He started in January which is not very long after the BCC. Then raced in March with a 4th. Why push him if the goal is the BCC? Danny did not start until April. It’s not easy these days to keep a horse at top level over much more than 6 months. That is one of the reasons that the Brits have not had a Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky in 1970. It’s next year yet again for them because the first leg winner is not running in the Derby. The Muchie will be back. He might be hanging out at one of Stronach’s farms running in his paddock. It’s a pretty good life at Frank’s farms for horses.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee, TC GP and Max:
I read exactly what Max has posted. MMM is being rested. Apparently the connection’s main goal is the BCC again this year. So he will probably have a late Summer campaign as Max said. Love and Hugs, JB
Terry Crow
Max and Judy-You are probably right. I just can’t get a handle on modern training methods. Max-I am sure than horses enjoy being at Frank Stronach’s farm and life is good there for them. It’s humans who have a problem with Stronach, especially the ones who were involved in his Canadian company before he went bankrupt.
@KathyR-Are the butterflies you refer to Monarchs? We have a town about 300 miles up the coast, I am not sure of the exact distance, named Pacific Grove which has trees that the Monarchs hibernate in during the cold weather. The butterfly trees are protected and guarded during the months of November through May when the butterflies are there. Thousands of them. The branches are lined with them and it looks like dry leaves on the branches. Every once in a while the temp warms up to the point that there is some activity. The sight is awesome in the true sense of the word. Hey, I’m not afraid to admit that I like butterflies.
PP #2 is not good, but it would not be to CC’s advantage if another horse scratches.. He will not move from this post unless #1 scratches, and that would be worse.
Terry,
If anyone scratches, other than the 1, that will be one less to be trying to get over to the rail. I know there is no comparison as far as talent, but look what happened to poor Vicar in the Derby.
I am getting to be old as dirt. In fact, General Washington in his dashing uniform was my prom date. So I need a triple crown before too many more years.
Terry Crow
I see your point. However, CC is one of the fastest 2 or 3 horses in the race. and should not be compromised by position. Martha Washington was my date before she met George.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee and TC GP:
The both of you are cracking me up. Too funny. I can relate. Love and Hugs, JB
Chrome has had the exact same post positions in every single Triple Crown race (5th in Kentucky, 3rd in the Preakness, and now 2nd in the Belmont) as his 3 times great grandfather, the incomparable Secretariat. If that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is!

Good luck to California Chrome in the draw. Even thought ROC is my boy, this is one time I am hoping he will be second.
Also on Belmont day, last year’s winner, Palace Malice will be running. Another one of Curlin’s big boys. Safe trip to him too.
Terry Crow
With the absence of Mucho Macho Man lately, Palace Malice may be the top handicap horse in training at the moment.

Dear Shirlee:
The dratted Johnny V is on ROC. Am rooting for CC too, but I think JV and ROC will be in the top four. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
The one time I am rooting for my horse to be second.
I like the pedigree on Commissioner. If he runs true to his blood, he will be dangerous.

Hey, I’m not afraid to admit that I like butterflies.
shirleeinindy
Oh No. Post position 2 for CC. At least it is not 1. Maybe someone will scratch.
Terry Crow
PP #2 is not good, but it would not be to CC’s advantage if another horse scratches.. He will not move from this post unless #1 scratches, and that would be worse.
shirleeinindy
Terry,
If anyone scratches, other than the 1, that will be one less to be trying to get over to the rail.
Deb E.
Chrome has had the exact same post positions in every single Triple Crown race (5th in Kentucky, 3rd in the Preakness, and now 2nd in the Belmont) as his 3 times great grandfather, the incomparable Secretariat. If that isn’t a sign, I don’t know what is!
Terry Crow
Thanks, Deb E. Interesting bit of trivia. Perhaps CC should run the Belmont as Secretariat did. On the lead.
shirleeinindy
Terry and Deb,
Just wish the field was as small as when Big Red won. Of course, it could have been a field of 100 and they would not have passed him.
