Happy Thursday!
Today we have a few new photos from Lane’s End. Alys has been spending time with Zenyatta and 12Z, capturing aspects of their daily routines. She sent us these two videos, each featuring a 360 degree view of Lane’s End!
Enjoy!

Aww, thanks for the great new videos and photos of Zenyatta and 12Z! She looks so contented and relaxed and beautiful and he looks like such a handful. Seeing them lifts my spirit, which is needed, so I am grateful. Love the 360 views also – what a gorgeous place! Thank you!!

Do Horses Speak on Christmas Eve?
What will Z say….oh my and that young z12? Wish i could listen in!!!
My Grandmother always told about the animals talking.Thank you,Mema!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I love this. Thank you, Ann. I’m pretty sure our boy would say, “I would love some more of those Harry&David pears for Christmas.”……….

This is great Ann! Thanks for sharing and for the many smiles this will produce :-)

Love this one Ann,
Folks at our barn hired a psychic to talk to their horses.
Everyone was giving each other a Christmas gift card for her sevices.
Bet 12 Z would say, where is the camera, i think it is my sister !!!!
HA HA HA !!!!
shirleeinindy
Ann NC, My grandmother always told me the animals talked on what she called “Old Christmas” which was Epiphany. Since this was to take place at midnight, I never could stay awake long enough to go to the barn and see if it were true. It is so good to know other families share these wonderful stories.
Merry Christmas to Zenny, Z12, the Mosses and all at Lanes End. Thanks for the pictures and video. Zenyatta and Z12 lift the spirits and warm the heart.

I know lots of you will be going to parties and such over the holidays, so keep this in mind.
With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my friends and family about drinking and driving.
As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a “social session” out with friends. Well two days ago I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit. That’s when I did something that I’ve never done before – I took a cab home.
Sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it was a cab they waved me past. I arrived home safely without incident.
This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don’t know where I got it and now that it’s in my garage I don’t know what to do with it.
Had to share and many may have seen this already.
Hugs to all!
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
Good thinking!! You would not wish to harm yourself or any one else in another car.
Merry Christmas! Sally B

Good one, Janet!

Regarding my post, while it is humorous, it is
a very serious message.
Please, please be safe.
Losing someone you love to drunk driving
or knowing someone that caused a serious accident
is a not an experience any of us gets over easy.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Janet–you had us fooled there for a minute. I actually have lost a nephew to a drunk driver, so I appreciate the friendly reminder.
Signofthetimes
Janet,
One of my co-workers a number of years ago, pulled over on the side of a freeway
In the fog and was rearended by a drunk driver. Her 18 month old son was killed and her
4 year old daughter suffered a severe head injury and is permanently in a wheelchair with loss of cognitive function. It was so terribly devastating for her and her husband
For quite sometime. DRINKING AND DRIVING IS A BAD THING. i have seen too many
Trauma patients with all types of enebriation. thank for the reminder.
carolinarkansas
hi all….I too lost a nephew to a drunk driver….almost 16yrs ago…my nephew was 17 at the time…the “driver” was in his 30’s no lic no inc and in a “borrowed” car…turns out he had “killed” before…and 16yr girl that time…some people have no morals or scuples…
Trina Nagele in SoCal
Dear Barbara and Carol, I’m so sorry for the loss of your respective nephews. I hope everyone will come through the holidays safe and sound.

Thank you for the latest photos of Zennie and Z12. I love to see how he is growing, looking forward to his career too. Zennie is so lovely in her in foal look, what a great mom she is. I can feel the love and pride Ann Moss shows in the photos. I have that look too of my horses too. They are so special. Love the horses so much..

Thank you Alys, Lanes End and of course Ann for the delightful videos.
I could not ask for anything more for Christmas than the lovely photos of my love, Zenyatta and her youngster 12z. Some day I am hoping that I will feel the warmth of Zenyatta’s breath next to my face. I do believe 12z looks like mama!!
Z looks wonderful and so healthy. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas; I hope you will be as happy as I was just now!!! Bless you
love with kisses on Z’s soft nose and to 12z as well. Auntie Sally
Zesters and Dumplings, Z’s team Z, Dottie & John, Ann & Jerry; Merry Christmas, Felis Navedah (spelling?) and God bless you with health and happiness throughout the New Year. hugs!! Sally B.
p.s. I feed the horses on early Christmas morning at the Horse Sanctuary. It seems appropriate, the smell of hay on Christmas Day.
Trina Nagele in SoCal
Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad to you, too, Sally B, and all the horses at the Cedar Valley Horse Sanctuary. To help evreyone at the sanctuary be merry and feliz, I’m going to put a Christmas donation check in the mail to the Horse Sanctuary Fund at the Cedar Community Foundation, c/o Amy Johnson, 5349 County Road D, West Bend, WI 53095.

I thought that was the work of Equi-Army-Ndo, Trina
Everyone on this site decided last year it would be best to look at rescue
and its issues in the site that Barbara Grimaldi developed.
So we all don’t end up on prozac ????
Trina,
Will you please post that site for those interested in rescue issues etc.
Thanks so much
Trina Nagele in SoCal
Thank you kindly for your interest in Equi-Army No Does Off (EAN), the horse welfare advocacy group. The EAN website is currently being redone and will be off-line for a while. I’ll be happy to notify people here when it is up and running again.
Isn’t it heart-warming to read of Auntie Sally B’s volunteer work at the Cedar Valley Horse Sanctuary near her in WI? And Pati’s efforts in NC? And Kim S’s rescue group where she sponsors her OTTB William in FL? And Judy Berube’s rescued OTTB Papa Charlie, now living the life of Riley in his second career in RI? I just want to give them and all the others a high hoof, and a donation too at this time of giving, if I can.
Trina Nagele in SoCal
OOPS–“No Days Off,” not “No Does Off.” So sorry.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@ Sallie– who decided this? There was certainly no vote taken. We have all come to this site because of our love of Zenyatta, but that love has caused many of us to work tirelessly for the benefit of her not-so-well-known relatives. I will never stop doing that. Anyone who does not want to read it can easily skip my posts. But if we only talk about Zenyatta, and we ignore the evil that is happening to horses every day, we have let them all down. I would rather confront evil than ignore that it hapens and give it full reign.

Thank you to everyone at Team Z and Lane’s End (and the Mosses, of course) for these wonderful pictures and videos. What a delightful Christmas treat to see Zenny and Prince up close and personal like this. As others have commented, I also thought that was Zenny looking out of her stall for a moment until I took a better look and saw a “star” rather than a “blaze.” Thanks to everyone who keeps these precious horses healthy, safe, and happy. Our hearts of full of gratitude (there were supposed to be hearts here, but it won’t “work” today!).

Take Charge Indy on Track for Donn Handicap
By Blood-Horse Staff Updated: Friday, December 21, 2012 1:39 PM
Chuck and Maribeth Sandford’s Take Charge Indy , winner of the $1 million Florida Derby (gr. I) in March, breezed three furlongs in :36 4/5 at Palm Meadows Dec. 21 in his first workout since finishing a game second in the Clark Handicap (gr. I) at Churchill Downs Nov. 23.
“He’s right on schedule,” said trainer Patrick Byrne, who plans for the A.P. Indy colt to make his first start of 2013 in the $500,000 Donn Handicap (gr. I), a 1 1/8-mile test at Gulfstream Park Feb. 9. “He went real well and we’ll come back and work again in eight or nine days.”

HAPPY HOLIDAY’S

signofthetimes, I cannot express how much I have enjoyed “revisiting” these videos. I still get goosebumps everytime I watch one of Zenny’s races … she is just so special. Yes, she is now living the good life at LE and a well deserved new life bringing foals into the world but OMG, she was a force on the track and the main reason all of us are here, two years after her last race, honoring her as the Queen of racing. She is one in a million bothe in talent and personality. I cannot imagine how glorious it must be to see her everyday. Sometimes I believe the wonderful folks at LE are living heaven on earth.
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club
Dear Sue,
Revisiting these video so much does demonstrate her specialness, as a personality on the track as well as a very talented determined mare, to win. I also forgot “her racing
personality”. She is sooo enjoying the a life of leisure, “eating bon bond and relaxing,
for her pedicures and manicures.
“E” has such a different presence, but they are all different just like we humans.
Glad you enjoyed them.

I have a BERNARDINI photo that looks exactly like 12 Z. Bernie is looking over

TY Sign, aside from her races, The Lanes End video is my utmost favorite watching her run with such glee and freedom after all those years in training and on the track. I recall sharing it with others who knew a little about her at that time and even they cried watching it. Lovely.
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club
Dear Longtime Z Supporter,
That is one of my favorites also, just to see her run free for the first time since
she was a yearling at Winter Quarter Farms was soo amazing. It is sooo very
amazing that Zenny was able to “keep her sanity” in that small stall, with that
small patch of grass. Kudo’s to John Sherriffs and Barn 55 for that. She never
had one missed beat, or needed a rest (turn out) during her whole 3 years
in California.

Thanks for the pics & videos. Too cute
One questions: What is that stuff at Z’s left eye, did she scrape it? Thanks.
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club
Dear Sunny B,
“Here is mud in her eye”
She was having so much fun rolling in the mud that she kicked some up into her eye.
If you have not had the opportunity to “clean” up a horse after a day in a muddy paddock, volunteer your time to help out, and you will see mud in places you
could never imagine.
She is enjoying life sooo much at Lanes End.
SunnyB.
Thanks & you have a great holday season, too. :)
