Happy Monday!
We’re happy to share a few new photos of Coz in training. The folks at Mayberry Farm call him handsome, personable, and lovely to be around! He’s pictured here with his rider Ronaldo, who has been at Mayberry Farm since Zenyatta’s training. His kitty friend, Daisy, is shown perched at her regular spot above Coz’s stall.
When we recently asked for feedback and suggestions concerning the Zenyatta Shop, we received such a wonderful response. Thank you! It’s going to be a fun year with new product releases down the line.
Last but not least, at the bottom of this post you’ll find a special note from Ann Moss. She wanted to share a very sweet moment with all of you. Enjoy!
The last time I had seen Coz he was running around in his own paddock showing off for us and his buddies in the paddocks next to him. A very happy young man. This is the first time I had seen him since he started on his new life with Jeannie Mayberry, getting ready for what he was born to do… race. His racing career had begun. Jeannie had given him the same as his Mother: the last stall where he has perfect view of the whole barn and even the training track. Made me weep with joy (which I’ve been known to do smile) to see him standing there as he let me kiss his sweet nose, this big boy already grand and majestic receiving his saddle and his rider and proudly doing his lessons.
Later in the day standing in a gentle mist visiting with Zenny, I suddenly felt inclined to show her the video I had just taken earlier of her boy and knew how proud she would be of him, of how well he was doing with all his lessons and how Jeannie had said he was so smart and kind and how wonderfully he moves… She suddenly started her dance and tossing her head and turning her head to look at my iPhone! She totally knew she was watching her son Cozmic One and she was very proud. She especially liked the video of him getting his bath and she literally licked my phone! Reminding me yet again how I have to pick up my conversation with her. That she totally gets and understands All. Of course she and I have had many chats on the phone over the years and he’s always been around nosing in on our conversations, so it totally makes sense but still stunned me as well. So I wanted to share these constantly amazing Beings with YouS :) and say again Thanks! for all the Good Thoughts Well Being and Love YouS send to Them =)

Dear Max Oh,where would we be without our Moosie! He’s one in a million! Certainly need a laugh on this slowly sinking Island!!Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. That island has endured everything that has been thrown at it and more. No successful invasion since 1066. It’s going to take more than water to sink a great naval power. Stay calm and carry on, but watch out for the Bristol croc. He’s looking for meals aka quick snaps. And free the Moose now. Neigh!

Dear Kathy Where would we be without our memories! There’s never a dull moment in the Fales household with the dogs Ray and Jack O play-fighting!Our Joey is a big boy now 7 today and getting in on the act again with the weather foreCATS,seems a storm is heading their way too, have heard there is some snow in the North here today!Marty was as proud as punch with his strawberry that rat has a cushy lifestyle! My mother used to love Shirley Temple films they were playing”animal crackers” on the radio today.Have a great day. Hugs to You, Kisses for the Puppy Pack. Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Love Ray’s sweet, sweet face. He loves his bruddahs! Happy Birthday to Joey! Marty enjoyed meeting his grandma and grandpa. If all rats had his cushy lifestyle there would be a lot of Happy Rats running around! Thinking back to Shirley Temple as a child. A beautiful little girl. Loved her costumes in her movies. You stay warm, safe and cozy in the storm today. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Max
Sheena. The Moose tweeted to help in the campaign to try to save Marius. Moosie has compassion. I’m proud of that unruly chestnut. Free the Moose. Neigh!

The Moose obviously has a superior intellect to those who have been judging him.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Hi to All,
Have been having computer issues so I’m playing catch up again. Happy belated Birthdays to Marshall and Brenda, hope you both had special days.
Congrats to all the new mamas and their gorgeous babies, the new ones help to make up for all our sad losses this year.
Have been busy with our Humane Society there is good news and bad news on this front. The good news is our Fund Raising committee raised $38,000.00 last year!! The bad news is yesterday they had a dryer fire at the shelter!! All people and animals were safely removed, thank God, but there was a lot of smoke and water damage. Hopefully the insurance will cover most of the cost of replacement but what a scary thing that was.
Just love the pics on this post of beautiful CoZ……so glad they love him down there and he is doing so well. We are very lucky to get these updates on him, and I am very grateful for that.
Pretty soon we’ll being pacing for Mama Zen again……the time has just flown by and it’s almost time for her new FILLY to be born.
Terry I just Loved the joke, good to hear you’re back in joke mode again.
Love and kisses to Mama Zen, Little Red, and CoZ and a kiss for my Indy too.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Sue Fredrick,
Thanks for the birthday wishes! Good to hear from you again. Congratulations on raising $38,000.00 for the Humane Society there! I am so sorry about the fire at the shelter, but happy that there were no injuries/fatalities.
Take care and keep us posted. Lots of Hugs
Terry Crow
Sue-Glad to see you posting.

Coz grows so fast! And is becoming more handsome. I love him!

Looks like Coz is a mirror image of Queen Z in training. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that he has a happy, healthy and successful career.
We all agree this foal by War Front will be a filly.
shirleeinindy
quarterhossgal, a filly and they can name her War Dancer.
Terry Crow
Very clever name if it is not already taken.

Love you, Queen Z!

A very Happy birthday to my boy Frankel. Great pic of an overloaded postie on Darren Birdie’s twitter. Hugs Sheena
Max
For Donna and Bullet Train fans. His first foal has arrived in the US, a filly. Congrats to Bullet Train and the new mother, Viscountess.
Bullet Train’s fee is a wonderful bargain for breeders. He carries all the same genes as Frankel, minus Galileo. He therefore carries the Sadler’s Wells, Danehill-Danzig cross, which has been a great racing success.

To all Dumplings in the path of the storm–please stay safe and dry. Weather here is hideous, but no buildup of ice so far. Praying that you will all have power for the next few days. Hugs to all.
RIP, Shirley Temple.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Barbara W.,
We are having quite the snowstorm this afternoon! The ground got covered within 15-20 minutes. We closed a little before 1:00 PM. I did not have trouble getting home, but went slowly. I live fairly close to where I work so exposure to other drivers was thankfully limited. The snow is to change over to freezing rain and sleet later — I would prefer just snow! Freezing rain is no fun at all — power outages are no fun at all.
My doggies were out for about 5 minutes, and they looked hilarious! They got totally covered with the white stuff — Reilly, being black, looked particularly cute. Should have gotten a photo of them.
Shirley Temple was definitely a treasure! RIP and thanks for the memories — great entertainment with no ugliness. Those films just made you feel good, and they still do!
Lots of Love and Warm Hugs
Terry Crow
Marshall-You are so right about Shirley Temple. I don’t remember any werewolves, vampires or zombies in any of her movies.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max Congratulations to Bullet Train and Viscountess on the birth of their filly. His stud fee is a bargain considering his connections. Who knows, he may turn out to be more successful than his famous brother??I signed a petition demanding the dismissal of the scientific director of Copenhagen Zoo.Moosie is a gentle soul, Free him now!!Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Good for you. Still shocked by what happened to that giraffe. Marius was a fine looking giraffe. They lured him to his death with his favorite treat – rye bread. This story keeps geting worse. Read that a Canadian rescue group like the UK place tried to save him, but they were ignored like all of the others who made offers. Someone even offered to buy him for big bucks. Why not?
On a lighter note, Chris the Bristol Croc tweets that he likes Guinneas. He also needs a job. Someone asked him to take over Old Trafford. Chris says that he’s always interested in getting “a few squid.” Ha!
sheena.davies(wales)
Yet more storms in the US?? Praying you all stay safe and warm. This winter is never ending both sides of the pond.Take care and God bless Love and Hugs SheenaX A lot of our politicians are out and about in their wellies!!

Abilgail; Oh, I am so sorry about your mom; I pray she can recover and have good health
I was so happy to read the good news of Stinker!!
The giraffe news: As one song lyric went, “how can people be so cruel”. This was terrible!!! It is so satisfying that here as a group, we love animals, as God loved them great or small.
Max, I will have to go back and read the last three weeks of Hovis. I miss him!
hugs to all!!
Zenyatta, spring will be just around the corner; and so will your baby be due!
Prayers for you
lovenkisses on your soft nose, and to your awesome two sons

News from Brenda S (Ft. Erie Canada)
I talked with Brenda earlier this evening and am distressed to report that she is massively under the weather with a severe upper respiratory bug (I didn’t even recognize her voice on the phone). She knows that Birthday greetings “await” here and will check in as soon as she is able. She wanted me to let everyone know that she appreciated the good wishes and will be in touch soon.
Marshall (NC broad)
Sandy,
All the very best to Brenda! Hope she recovers quickly and will be back among us very soon! Take care and Lots of Hugs

Just saw that Ebby is racing at Santa Anita Park on Thursday! Good Luck Ebby!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max They couldn’t use an injection for Marius because they wanted to use his carcass. God rest his soul. Just tossed aside like garbage!
Yes, the croc is doing well in Bristol ,couldn’t have arrived at a better time with all the flooding in the South-West!!! Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. That Copenhagen director was on CNN, US cable news network, defending his decision. He’s apparently got widespread support in Denmark. Some Danes think that we (and probably you in UK who are not really Europeans) are living in Disneyland. Too bad. Anything is better than that zoo. I like Disneyland. Donald Duck has been one of my heroes since I was a kid. And I have the tee shirts to prove it.
Chris the croc has now developed a social conscience. He’s outraged by an attack on a Bristol pensioner. This croc is ok. Free the Moose.
Terry Crow
I always thought that Donald had a much healthier relationship with Daisy than Mickey had with Minnie.
shirleeinindy
Terry, Only you would think of that.
Terry Crow
shirlee-I plead guilty.
Max
It’s Donald in that naval uniform which charms the ladies every time.

Just had something happen….never happened before…
I follow Big Red Farm on fb…..that way I get all newest pictures/ videos of IHA…
They had posted a stallion showing video of him…..folks were making comments…nice ones….
I posted that he looked beyond fabulous and that Big Red Farm was obviously very proud of him…
I got a reply from Big Red Farm….thanking me for understanding how they feel about him….
I think they love him….
Max
carol. Good to hear this. Let the love of IHA, other horses and all of God’s creatures shine forth.

Great news, Carol. Nice to receive a reply.
shirleeinindy
Carol, It is people like you watching out for the horses both here in the US and abroad that will keep many of them safe. Thanks for the post.
When will Oaklawn get going again. Bet you really miss going to the races.

Havre de Grace enjoying the snow and a close-up of her filly. Makes me excited for Zenyatta which is still a while yet. But Z has gorgeous babies!

Thanks, Janet, baby girl is gorgeous. She came with socks. Congrats, Gracie.

RE Marius:
There is no way the Copenhagen Zoo people will EVER be able to bring me around to thinking that what happened to Marius was OK. I signed the petition to fire the scientific director. John Hanna from the Columbus Zoo blasted the Copenhagen Zoo. As he pointed out, WHY is the Copenhagen Zoo still breeding??? I also read how the veterinarian carried out the execution. Marius was given the treat that he loved…rye bread. When he lowered his head he was shot. This just sickens me. I will be haunted by this for a long time to come.
Janet Newman
That is disturbing on some many levels. I have been crying all day long when I first read this story. A beautiful graceful animal taken by trickery and butchered.
Kathy
Sorry…that’s “Jack” Hanna.
Terry Crow
Is that the same Jack Hanna who is often on TV? If so, he could use that pulpit to decry this incident.
Max
TC. Hanna has been on CNN several times denouncing the killing of Marius. Reports today in the English newspaper, The Guardian, are that a second Danish zoo plans to kill another male giraffe, also called Marius, whom they consider superfluous for breeding purposes. World outrage at the first killing seems to have had no effect on these zoo keepers.
Terry Crow
Jack Hanna is very well known and could cast an unwelcome glare on these pukes.
Max
TC. Hanna was quite angry and called the whole thing “grotesque”. Also said that it would be easy to find a home for the giraffe in US or Canada. Brits also wanted to take in the first Marius. That these zookeepers are thinking of doing this again is bizarre. Apparently, according to Reuters, the so called care givers haven’t decided yet if the killing will be public. Can you believe this is happening in 2014?
Terry Crow
I do not see eye to eye with them, but this is something that PETA should be involved in. If members of that group are willing to lay down in front of a Rose Parade float involving Sea World, what might they do in this case?

February 12 Cherokee Devotional
The Cherokee can agree with Sir Francis Drake when he wrote about the herb garden, “A perfect garden planted with herbs, when trod upon gives the very air a delightful fragrance.” But to the Cherokee it meant even more-food and medicine. As a child, I spent much time following my Grandmother Essie in search of herbs, mullein, lamb’s quarter and other things I hoped I wouldn’t have to eat in greens, but the hunt was a joy. Kneeling to dig the herbs, feeling the soil and the warmth of the sun, gave me the realization that the plants were only a part of a gift from AsgaYa Galun lati. I was also being given the day to day enjoyment, the songs of dozens of birds, the little meal I shared with Grandmother, and her company away from others.
A Cherokee woman is never idle and has no time to tattle or to create mischief.

FYI everyone – ABC’s Good Morning America just aired a piece on the homeless dogs in Sochi. I didn’t see all of it, but at the end they said anyone interested in adopting one of the dogs in Sochi go to abcnews.com and look for a link to the site offering the adoptions, and they ended the story with “Puppy love is real love to a puppy.” Hopefully some of the dogs will be adopted by loving homes.
Pass on the information to anyone you know might be interested.
Terry Crow
The Russians have not been too anxious lately to let any species be adopted by Americans.

For those of you who have been clamoring for tidbits from the Redneck Club, here are a few. You might be a redneck if you ask to open a savings account and the teller says “With what?” You might be a redneck if every job you’ve had paid daily. You might be a redneck if your husband’s work number starts with 1-900. You might be a redneck if, according to your birth certificate, your father’s name was “x.” You might be a redneck if you are called a soccer mom because the entire team is your kids. Finally, an old favorite. You might be a redneck if you are using a toilet seat as a picture frame.
Marshall (NC broad)
YAY! “Terry the Entertainer” is back!
Thanks for these gems, TC! Laughter is always welcome.
Cheers and Hugs
