    October 5 Cherokee Devotional

    Nothing has been used and misused as often, and nothing can save the day, like a good word. A word is power-packed, whether we read it or speak it or hear it. We command and we are commanded by the use of that power.
    How often children are robbed of self-confidence and good feelings about themselves because someone strikes out and destroys with unthinking words. Sick people are made sicker by negative talk around them, although it seems they sleep. Relationships have been shattered and prosperity dissolved because of the choice of words.
    Because of their awesome power, listen carefully to your words-and watch carefully what words of others you listen to. Choosing words-and listening-wisely strengthen you and others as well.

    We are as well-behaved as you and you would think so if you knew us better.

    Dear Kathy.Horrid migraine today.Have only managed to visit a few.The word is so powerful many times I wish I had thought more carefully before speaking.

      Dear Sheena,

      I’m so sorry you’e suffering from a migraine. I had a friend who had them so bad she had to be in a darkened room for the duration. I think she had a prescription for it but if she didn’t take it at the onset she just had to suffer it through. Sounds like Mother Theresa had it all going on today…her speech AND her wardrobe. I wouldn’t doubt if the VP debate caused your migraine. Zoe and her Mom have hearts of gold. Yes, very sweet post for Jacob. Nice to hear about all those quality colts selling so well. Mango has a great link with God. Manthlet was lucky nothing was taken. If she ever comes here not only will the things IN the car be gone, the entire car might be gone!     Article in Southern California Life mag about Breeder’ Cup. Says Weds, Nov. 2nd, at the Gold Line Plaza in downtown Arcadia, is Arcadia Night’s Salute to Zenyatta. Says open to the public. Says approx. 1, 000 guests will celebrate the unveiling of her Champions Plaque in the city. Live band, restaurant samplings, food trucks, Breeder’ Cup activities, signature Breeders’ Cup cocktails, and a cash bar are among the happenings. Also says to support Old Friends Farm, fans can go to http://www.breederscup.com/championsforcharity and for a $400 donation receive a 2016 Maker’s Mark limited-edition commemorative Zenyatta bottle. Donors can pick up their bottles at the Arcadia Night event. Phew! Did I get everything in? O, no start time was given for this event.

      Thanks for the “breaking news”!! That sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could check it out, but alas, it is not to be. Hope you and other Z fans can make it, and that you will post about the festivities for our enjoyment.

      I would love to have a 2016 Maker’s Mark commemorative Zenyatta bottle; however, if I did get one, the liquor would never be imbibed since it is a collector’s edition — sad not to drink this fine bourbon though. ?

      “Sigh” – Will make a smaller donation to Old Friends due to budget constraints. :-)

    Hi back Marshall :-) Sadly, although I live SO close, I won’t be making the trip. I am nursing a 2-fractures foot for a few more weeks and understand that it will be subject to swelling, etc. for a few more months afterward. Let’s hope someone else will take heart and post their experience for us!

      Dear Cheryl,

      Oh your poor foot! Hope it mends quickly and with minimum swelling afterwards. That sounds very painful. I can relate somewhat since my left foot has been acting up lately due to a flare-up of Plantar Fasciitis and an ankle becoming painfully out of alignment, also. It is better this week, and I was able to do spin/cycle at the gym more easily. It is just awful when your feet or your back hurt. :-(

    Playing catch up here and want to belatedly thank you all for your happy birthday wishes. Appreciated! Sunday was a gorgeous day here, so had a grand time. Saturday was also a great day at the track. Can only echo what everyone else has said about Chrome, Stellar Wind, Beholder and of course Gormley! :-) A good birthday to you too Sue and belated birthday wishes to Terry Crow.

    Dear Judy.I have been reading a feel-good story about a retired TB called Swinging at Siro’s.He was racing in Puerto Rico and looked as if he would be euthanised.He had fallen through the claiming ranks in the US so rescues got together raised over $5000 to bring him home and he is now living with his breeder Dr Douglas Koch at Berkshire stud in New York.His dam Silence Please a Quiet American mare lives there too and Dr Koch is a vet.Happy endings!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Thanks for the news on Frosted, love that boy.

    I saw the tribute and beautiful photo of Secretariat from BGG and it was only the night before that I looked at the last video of Secretariat taken just a few days before he was put down due to laminitis. Secretariat was grazing and a family photo showed him walking slowly over to be close to the three children who were standing close by. Very touching, RIP Big Red.

    Sorry to hear Lady Eli and Stellar Wind are going up for sale, hard to imagine.
    Lady Eli fought back so hard to overcome laminitis and deserves stability and respect.
    Stellar Wind is a very talented horse,hope we see more of her before she is retired.

    Dear Kathy.Oh,the world could end when I sleep I go out like a light.We are all different yet somehow manage to get on although sadly not in the European Parliament today Steven Woolfe was involved in an altercation in other words a punch up and he has collapsed.They thought it was serious at first but he has tweeted he is feeling better now and there is no bleed on the brain.I have never been fanatical about politics or religion.As you know I find politics rather funny!Mother Theresa’s dress was described as burgundy and aubergine.Husband Philip is a very quiet rather non-descript.Did you see Chipper’s VP debate?”nd debate next Monday night for Trump and Clinton Nigel Farage is going to give Trump some tips.

    With Hollendorfer, assistant trainer Dan Ward, and regular jockey Mike Smith huddled together looking on, the sound of the stopwatch cut through the crisp, early-morning air at every furlong pole.
