We’re quite excited about the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration. Have you purchased your tickets yet?

Alys sent us a great new batch of photos of 12Z of the boys having fun, so we thought we’d share them with all of you.

Team Z is headed to Lane’s End, so we’ll be posting more photos and fun updates in the coming days. As of today, we’re also on Instagram! Follow us (@teamzenyatta) for updates throughout our trip.     These pictures of the “boys”
    are terrific. The Prince has a very handsome playmate too. Would be fun to know his royal lineage. Thank you Lane’s End for keeping us in his and his Mom’s life.
    Yes, I have my tickets for the Zenyatta buffet dinner. Would not miss it for the world.

    Love seeing the horses at play. Z12 looks good and so much like his Mom. Glad to see his spirit and will be looking forward to seeing him race one day. The prince is our big hope for the future. I hope he will be Zenyatta’s big star. Thank you so much for the pictures and my love goes out to Zenyatta who remains in my heart daily.

    Oh my goodness looking at these fellows this morning is a great start to my day. What a great group of photos from LE. We truly are blessed fans of the Queen. Thank you Team Z so much

    Great pics and thank you Lane’s End. Who are 12Z’s playmates?
    He is getting so big. I guess it is almost time to wean him. So sad to take him from Zenyatta. I hope they adjust with out any major issues. Love them both so much.

It is such a treat to watch him growing up and gaining his strength and developing his personality.     TC….your lyrics are what summer is all about! When summer rolls around,my old camp songs never leave my head. Mr. Mac and Skipper always ran a tight ship at camp and everyone sang silly songs!
    Skipper fell down in a bucket, the bucket fell down in the well, we cut the rope to the bucket and Skipper went down into……….ting a ling fa lalala,sweet are the voices we hear from afar.

    Good morning and hello from Montreal to Delrene, Judy Berube, Celeste, signofthetimes, Sue FI, Shari, Laura J., Barbara Wood, Sue + Tony, Keta & Ann Maree, as well as all other Dumplings present!

    Good morning Zenny & Baby Z. Those ears! Funny thing but my Daisy has the same ears….some days, I look at her and think of you, Baby Z. You look so happy frolicking with your buddies and I LOVE the title of this blog! Thank you, Alys & Lane’s End for the great photos and note. Like some of you, methinks Team Z’s arrival is to ease weaning for Zenny and her first born….sigh. They do, indeed, grow up too fast.

    I’ve been working hard on a new piece for THE VAULT and have one up on Saratoga, which proved a fascinating topic. The aim for the unpublished piece is to get it up by tonight. As the women’s Olympic soccer has concluded with “our girls” winning the bronze, I think I’ll meet the deadline! Delighted for them. Losing to TEAM USA was such a heartbreaker. But I’m tuning in later today to support our American cousins as they play Japan for GOLD. GO USA GO!!!!

        No haven’t found that website yet??? Is that the name of it “THE VAULT” sounds like something I would definitely be interested in! Don’t think the weather is going to be very good tomorrow, they are saying storms for the next 48 hrs! They had some really bad weather in Cooperstown NY yest and last nite which is about an hour away from Saratoga!

      Dear Keta,
      Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro were absolute perfection — even that little transition bump was balanced out by the beauty and accuracy of the program. I am so glad that they got the gold and that Laura Bechtolsheimer(sp?) and her horse finished in the medals, too. YAY, Great Britain!!!
      Today’s freestyle competition was truly breathtaking! It blows me away to see these gorgeous horses responding to the unseen signals of their riders AND in sync with the music! The choice of music is very crucial to the overall “ballet”, it seems.

    Here is a trivia question for those of you who like trivia and have the patience to search for answers.

    What on-air horse racing analyst (TVG or HRTV) has a connection to two thoroughbred race horses (not current horses), one named Wandering Herbie and the other named Zip Pocket and what is that connection?

      I remember Zip Pocket as a very fast horse who ran mostly at Turf Paradise. I must admit I am not familiar with Wandering Herbie. Good trivia question.

        Extremely fast horse – held some track records at TP. Do you know the connection to one of the TV analysts? Zip Pocket and Wandering Herbie share a connection.

        • Well, it’s probably a jockey so I’ll guess Gary Stevens. THis is a very good trivia question. I always try to answer them without looking anything up.

        • Dear Pati (hope you’re better soon) – Not Jeff (I don’t know how to spell his last name either) but I am sure he knows the answer, as does probably Gary Stephens, who was TC GPB’s guess.

          Another hint – Zip Pocket and Wandering Herbie had the same trainer.

          Another hint – the HRTV host is related to the trainer of Zip Pocket and Wandering Herbie.

        • Also could be Gary Mandella,
          Richard Mandella son, both are trainers.

        • Not Gary or Richard Mandella but “Richard” is closer than you think (this is a very, very indirect hint). A direct hint is that the HRTV host recently became the parent of a little girl.

        Eveline/Maryland You are right, it is Scott Hazelton’s father Richard who is the trainer of Zip Pocket and Wandering Herbie. Richard Hazelton has been described by many as a trainer having few, if any peers. He held training titles at Arlington many, many times over the years.

    These are so beautiful, thank you all at Lane’s End for these fantastic pictures.

    Does anyone know who the little boy is kissing the Prinz? He is a beauty as well.

    Please, keep them coming and the Big Mama too. Does this mean that the weaning process is complete, or does mom & son still share the evenings together?

    What a great collection of pictures!! Prince and his buddies look like they are having SO much fun. Thanks so much to Alys and everyone on Team Z. We will be looking forward to more (and hopefully some of Zenny as well) when you visit Lane’s End.

    I posted the question on page 1, but in case peeps aren’t going back . . . the colt in the 4th picture down (SM’s colt?) has been referred to as grey. I’m not seeing it – you horse experts must know where to look so how about a hint? Still wish we knew who the other colt was.

    The dressage finals today were on MSNBC so I got to see some of the rides (only the last group by the time I realized it was on). What about the tails on those horses??? Do they use “hair extensions” (ha, ha). Seriously, they look so different from what I’ve seen on the race horses.

    Hang in there Zenny! The consensus seems to be that weaning is at hand. Your mom and dad are coming to help you get through this, and all of us are sending lots of love!

      It’s subtle. In Picture #4 above, look at his back legs. You’ll see that they look dusted in powder. On the “Watch Baby Z Grow” gallery, he is in two pictures. In the first, you can see the graying on his midsection. In picture #3 (red-trimmed fly mask), you can see some lightening on his face, especially his nose, and around the eyes. If you zoom in on this picture, the light areas around the eyes are more obvious. You can also see all three boys in the “Kicking off a Big Week” blog post. Again, you can see the faint graying of the body, like he has gotten dusty.

        Thanks Laura! I never would have noticed this without some guidance (and I guess I thought that WAS dust on his legs :-). Is this always the way it happens with horses who wind up being gray or do some of them arrive gray in the first place?
