Happy Monday!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! These photos from Alys show how Zenyatta enjoyed her holiday.
Now that the festivities are over, we have some updates in the works including additions to the shop (sneak peek: we’re launching a new line of greeting cards) and news about Cozmic One and Ziconic. Make sure you’re on our mailing list for early access and December promotions.
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena:
Oh my, at last some info on Z’s little brother. Counting on updates from you and Max on him as they come available. Hope whatever happened to him at Mayberry’s is healed and all is well. He’s in good hands with AO’B.

Dear Sheena:
Can’t help thinking Montey’s gone back to his roots. Ireland is where Street Cry was born. I hoped he would race in the US, but maybe we’ll see him at the BC some day. Love and Hugs, JB

So glad to see there’s no snow back there. Zenyatta looks gorgeous as usual. I’ve found myself thinking of her a lot lately. I like everyone else I’m sure are eagerly awaiting news of Cosmic One and Ziconic. I’ve seen both their names on the workout tab of late. Hopefully they will be off and running soon.

I’ve missed hearing about you, my beloved Queen. I love you and all three of your gorgeous babies. Forever!

Thanks for posting! We love updates of our beautiful champion!
Bev
She looks so good that you have to smile. Contented and happy. Forget she is a big mare so has lots of room for this baby to grow. Really appreciate the pictures and the update.
Donna Z
Dear Momma Z,
You are the picture of perfect contentment. The photos of you walking toward Alys are so you-you are such a “people horse”! I am glad that you have such wonderful people to care for you. I hope that some sweet potato was added to your Thanksgiving meal. They are my favorite veggie, too.
I am looking forward to hearing about Coz & Ziconic. I suspect that they will be moving to a warmer climate for the winter. In any case, I know that John & his team are taking the best of care of them.
New goodies in the store in time for Christmas! You spoil us, Team Z!
Thank you to Sheena & Ann Maree for the news on Monty. Has his registered name been mentioned yet? I had a feeling that Coolmore would send him overseas to race. I am very glad that he is ok now.
Good thoughts & blessings to all in Zenyatta’s worldwide family.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Donna Z:
I have been checking almost every day on Equibase to see if Montey’s been given a name yet; so far nothing. If I find anything, I will post it here. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Donna Z and Z Fans:
I’m just wondering, because he was born in Kentucky, if Montey will be registered with the Jockey Club here, or since he is being trained and will most likely race in Europe, if he will be named and registered in Ireland. Does anyone know how that works? Laura J, Max, Sheena; help. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy.He may get registered over here in Europe I am not too sure but Sue Magnier always names the Ballydoyle horses.Love and hugs Sheena.
lauraj_cincinnati
“Monty” is already registered with The Jockey Club, since 6 August 2013. He is not yet named, but naming doesn’t have to be done at the time of registration.
Tizgood
Clarification Laura J
The name Monty has been registered with the jockey
club since 6 August 2013- not this horse?
Don’t see a Montey as a name registered either.
Tizgood
Sue does select some of the best names.
Love and hugs
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Laura J:
Thanks. I figured that out when I checked on Equibase and his chart just says KY where his name would be. That means he is registered with the JC, but not yet named. I realized how it works when I checked Giant’s Causeway’s chart. He was born in KY, registered here and raced in Europe.
Thank you for your always helpful info and knowledge of horses. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
PS:
Dear Laura and Z Fans:
Giant’s Causeway’s only race in the US was the 2000 BCC. Maybe we will get to see Montey race here too some day. Hope so. Love and Hugs, JB
lauraj_cincinnati
@Tizgood, “Monty/Montey” is/was supposedly his barn name at the Mayberrys. Sorry for the confusion–I didn’t mean to suggest that it was his registered name. That tidbit was reported a few months ago, IIRC, and may not be accurate.
Tizgood
Dear Donna Z,
If he races here and overseas he will be registered with US Jockey club. If he races overseas only he won’t. Coolmore may run him here in BCC when he is eligible, as
Adian is going persevere. He is a cutie.
Love and hugs
Mary
What a wonderful way to start the week!!! Fresh pictures of the beloved Queen Z and the promise of news on her two princes.

Dear Ann, I’m still hoping for some beautiful bead stretch bracelets to the Zenyatta Shop with maybe a little gold halter charm on it. With Zenyatta’s name. It just stays on my wish list.

Read Before Riding: Horses Have Consciousness
Horses have been domesticated for 5,000 years, but we’re still learning
about how they think.

Excerpt from article:
What have horses taught you that you use in your everyday life?
Horses teach you courage, patience, persistence; rewards of kindness and gentleness; companionship; the excitement and vitality of life; and warmth. They also provide an awful lot of memories, and the importance of caring for another living thing, which it took me a long time to learn! [Laughs]

Distant hills are blue-gray humps along the horizon and a blend of orange and purple sprays across the sky in extra-long pointed fingers. Millions of bare tree limbs give the appearance of gray fur laid across the valley.
It is winter and the first snows have dusted the woodland and sparkle on the rocks and along the trickling stream. There is a quietness here, a muted sound of dogs barking and an owl tuning up for the evening.
Now is the time for honest reflection, time to leave the gritty and unseemly, to make a new beginning. Time is of the essence. Find the new path, raise the new hope, lift up your voice in thanksgiving. This is your opportunity.
I desire you would open and clear your eyes.

Dear Kathy. No snow here yet but at least it’s dry today flooding in Dyfiland(Machynlleth).A lot of critical comments on Racing post about the time change for the Grand National 5.15pm next year. They are so worried about the alarming drop in viewing figures. It’s only happened since the new team took over and they are utterly useless.Very cute photo of Boo today. No news yet of Wookie but Sgt Rambo has survived his surgery. He’s very sleepy though.Pray he pulls thought.Zoe looked so special in her nurses uniform.Speedy the bunny is having his Christmas party today.Does’nt Z look wonderful she is blooming!I am sure she is grateful for the colder weather.I hope her brother will enjoy life over here in Europe.Ray has lost more furiends again.Mr Fibbs was a naughty boy denying he hadn’t been eating! He looked sweet with his Christmas hat on!I hadn’t known Bindi Irwin won your dancing competition. Our Final is on the 19th.Lovely new pics of Treve up on her FB.I am glad we still get updates and photos.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO

Thank you to Team Z with applause to Alys for taking such wonderful photographs of our lovely Queen!! My heart is lifted because you continue to share your mighty mare with those of us who love her from afar. Zenyatta looks so beautiful and most importantly, she appears to be content and happy. I will be anxiously looking forward to more new information on Cozmic One and Ziconic as it becomes available and of course, new items in the Zenyatta Shop. Thanks!!
