Happy Monday!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! These photos from Alys show how Zenyatta enjoyed her holiday.
Now that the festivities are over, we have some updates in the works including additions to the shop (sneak peek: we’re launching a new line of greeting cards) and news about Cozmic One and Ziconic. Make sure you’re on our mailing list for early access and December promotions.
Enjoy!

I cannot forget Shorty’s attitude either. We would be in a better place if horses ruled the world. I agree that The Fly deserves this tribute. He is a world record holder in both racing and biting. Rock on, Fly.

Kentucky Derby winning horse Giacomo arrives in Portland via Federal Express;
open house planned
By Beth Nakamura | The Oregonian/ on December 06, 2015
When Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo arrived at Portland International Airport two weeks ago via a Federal Express airplane, he became the second of two Kentucky Derby winning horses to reside in Oregon.
The Thoroughbred, who won the derby in 2005, now makes his home at Oakhurst Thoroughbreds in Newberg, in a stall alongside Grindstone, who in 1996 also won the prestigious race. The two horses are available for breeding.
Jack Root, a veterinarian who runs the farm, is leasing Giacomo for three years.

Dear BGG, Love Giacomo! Thanks so much for posting this about him. He is one of my dream horses. I do wish an owner would take him home to a great place for the rest of his life. Will look forward to watching his colts and fillies. God’s blessings for a great day, BGG – with love, Elizabeth

BGG,
Thanks for post about Giacomo and Grindstone. Looks like a nice farm and they both look very good. Grindstone has a pretty good grandson, Swipe, who ran second in the Juvenile at Keeneland.
I know how you lease a house or a car, but a horse??? Do the Mosses still own Giacomo?
Bluegrass Girl
shirleeiinindy Leasing a hose is fairly common in the equestrian side.
Even Olympic show jumpers can be leased. Here is an good article that describes why and how to lease a horse.
The Benefits of Leasing a Horse
How this alternative to horse ownership can help you get your horse fix without maxing out your budget. –
By Linda Buchanan Allen from the February 2012 issue of Practical Horseman Magazine. –
For the cost-conscious among us, leasing a horse is a practical way to make the most of available resources. The arrangement, essentially a formal rental agreement between an owner and a rider for a horse’s use, has shown signs of gaining ground in these economically challenging times. At its most basic, leasing a horse is a way for an owner to reduce the cost of her horse’s care without selling him or taking him out of work

Dear Shirlee and BGG:
There are a couple of horses at the farm that are or were leased by Angela to people that don’t have the means to buy a horse of their own. They pay a fee every month and they can ride and groom and spoil their charges. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Thanks to all of you for the information about leasing a horse. Sounds like a good arrangement if you can’t afford ownership and the owner doesn’t have to lose her horse.
Hope all of my Zster friends have a wonderful day.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
The last I read some time ago was Giacomo was a shared ownership between the Moss’ and Stronach Stables. Don’t know if that is still the case. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Shirlee,
I leased my first horse. She was a former QH race horse that I used to give riding lessons on. Both of her grandmothers were TB’s & she was 16.1 hands tall. She was a really nice horse.

December 7 Cherokee Devotional
She woke me at midnight to see the pink snow that lay on the ground-the only time I ever recall seeing aurora borealis, the northern lights playing in the far northern skies and tinting the snow.
She called me to sit beside her on the doorstep to watch the evening star nestled in the crest of a new moon. It was the only time I ever remember such a thing happening.
She got off of her horse on a rocky hill near the creek and said simply, “The horses are snorting. A rattlesnake must be nearby.” It was coiled and ready to strike-but she showed no fear. She took aim with a rock and we dragged it home on a rope for others in the family to see the rattles.
She was an artist in her heart, a teacher, but most of all my loving mother.
I had a dream…one small round stone appeared to me that the maker of all was Wakan Tanka.

Dear Kathy. Our mother’s are the best teachers in the world! Our floods made the CBS news last night.Dave is putting his wellies on and visiting the areas affected today. It really is heartbreaking to see the damage. One couple were in the process of selling their house and had refurbished it was flooded out who will buy now?.There was heavy in North Wales too which may affect the Severn in time. Then there was the terrorist-related incident in a tube station in East London.Maybe they will take advantage of the busy time of year as the IRA did in 1983 with the Harrod’s bomb.
Sadly Monday has come around again! It’s so warm I have my windows open unbelievable for December and someone on the radio said this morning there are “yellow perils”out in his garden!Hovis beware.Poor Ray has lost a lot of friends again bless him.No news of Fubu yet but Wookie and family had a lazy sunday I loved Dexter cuddling his toy and snoozing. The ratties went to Ohio and visted mum’s old school in Clebeland.Someone is trying to send them a license for Birginia.I think Judy’s having a party this week and Gizmo(the pony)took part in a nativity over the weekend I posted some pics on Hovis’FB.Remember to turtle-turtle.Love and hugs to you, kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, we learn most of our early lessons from our dear mothers. Speaking of mine, this is the anniversary of her residency in heaven. December 7, 2001. Seems like forever that she’s been gone, but the memories are still so vivid of that day on the anniversaries. It’s amazing that you have a warm day today in Wales after all the storms. Heartbreaking flooding and so much damage. And yes, more terrorism. Seems the world is getting crazier and crazier as time goes on. Yellow perils! I hope Hovis watches out for them! Seems Ray is ALWAYS losing friends. Sure enjoyed the pics of darling Wookie yesterday. I sure hope they can keep him comfortable and that he can enjoy a good quality of life for some time. Dexter was adorable with his toy in bed together. The ratties have a lot of bizness to tend to. Hope Gizmo enjoys his party! Will look for those pics of the nativity. I will turtle-turtle as much as possible. Have a great day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Hi Zsters☺
Today’s devo:
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” (Matthew 2:1–2)
Unlike Luke, Matthew does not tell us about the shepherds coming to visit Jesus in the stable. His focus is immediately on foreigners coming from the east to worship Jesus.
So Matthew portrays Jesus at the beginning and ending of his Gospel as a universal Messiah for the nations, not just for Jews.
Here the first worshipers are court magicians or astrologers or wise men not from Israel but from the East — perhaps from Babylon. They were Gentiles. Unclean.
And at the end of Matthew, the last words of Jesus are, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.”
This not only opened the door for us Gentiles to rejoice in the Messiah, it added proof that he was the Messiah. Because one of the repeated prophecies was that the nations and kings would, in fact, come to him as the ruler of the world. For example, Isaiah 60:3, “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
So Matthew adds proof to the messiahship of Jesus and shows that he is messiah — a King, and Promise-Fulfiller — for all the nations, not just Israel.

Haskin, Burroughs Named to Media Honor Roll
By Blood-Horse Staff December 7, 2015
Turf writers Steve Haskin and the late Raleigh Burroughs have been elected to the Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame announced Dec. 7.
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/96420/haskin-burroughs-named-to-media-honor-roll
From the article: “I have long admired Steve’s engaging writing as well as his knowledge and respect for the history of Thoroughbred racing,” said Edward L. Bowen, chairman of the Hirsch selection committee. “He ranks with the best who have ever written on racing.”

Elegant is the word for gulls flying overhead. Their graceful movements and backswept wings showed only black and silver as they glinted in the sun. They swooped and darted and flew in wide circles over the meadows as they fed on high-flying insects in the mellow sunlight.
Gulls in flight show the simplicity that living should have.Though they are very swift, they appear not to hurry; they go silently and they do not quarrel with each other. A person can say, “I want to be like that”-to have a purpose and to go about it without ruffled feathers and demanding attention for all the wrong reasons.
All living creatures and all plants are a benefit to something.

So very happy that he was such a success over there so all of those who looked down on him in the US, see how wonderful he was when he was here.
