Judy,
Enjoyed your post on the Horse Park. So glad they have a statue of Alysheba. He is one of my few picks who actually won the Derby. Dear Zenny,

I like the name Jack Hobbs — it has a good solid sound. Jack is extremely handsome, too!
What a fine job JH did, and Seventh Heaven ran a very good second, also.
Congratulations to Jack Hobbs and all connections!
That horse is a total freak of nature in the best meaning of the term. It looked like there were two races on the track at the same time. 13 horses were running in one race. Arrogate was running by himself in the other. Incredible.
Wonderful way to describe that race. He’s just magnificent and I love the way Mikey bonds with his horses; they move as one! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Mike also does not go for the whip. That was a hand ride, with one or two left handed taps near the end to keep Arrogate focussed. Contrast this to the whipping that Gun Runner got.
Congratulations to all of Arrogate’s connections!! What a thriller!! Mike you did well! ? I pray that all horses are well. It reminded me of our Zenyatta! The best horse in the world! Linda.
Dubai World Cup was an exciting, fantastic race!! When I saw Arrogate break and he was last, I said to myself, “Well he has the right jockey in Mike Smith!! He knows how to run and win from LAST place!!” Of course I was thinking of Zenyatta. I loved how they mentioned her during the race too.
I have met many jockeys, but never Mike Smith. I have to meet him and tell him what an amazing jockey he is. Not only does he WIN, but he really takes care of his horses too.
Amazing race. Gave me memories of Zenyatta’s races. She is my favorite horse of all time. Someday I hope to meet her. I have met Ann, Jerry, John and Dottie and Kyle!! All such wonderful people.
Zenyatta…. do you hear people talking about you? well they should be and they should also be remembering YOUR GREATNESS – they are loading on the love and respect to arrogate today based on his world cup win – but you did that ALL the time dear Zenyatta – if they think arrogate is great…. they better take a look at what you did on the track – YOU are the greatest I ever saw dear Zenyatta – the greatest I ever saw – ever – and I dearly hope people keep talking about you because arrogate did something today that you DID EVERY time – no one should ever ever forget that – much love to you great zenyatta – my love and respect and admiration to you forever – love you!!!!!
My Dear Gun Runner, I look to my heart and look up to the heavens. Great Grand Pa was very very proud of you, and i’m just over the moon. Great Great 2nd place finish.. Your one of the Greats Gun. Love Ya very much. Safe travels home.
Quiet American Love Ya with all my heart. You got a wonderful Great Grand Son.
Dear Judy, So very proud of him. They were saying on QVC today that they hoped this loss didn’t hurt Gun Runner after he ran such a great race. Didn’t exactly know how to take that. But, they said that sometimes when horses that ran their heart out and got passed and beat that it kind of hurt them and they didn’t try in the future as hard. Kind of like they were saying it kind of hurt their heart. They put it a little differently but know that’s what they meant. Never really thought of that before. Hope it doesn’t happen with Gun.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Gosh, that’s on TVG.

Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Peggy,
I think valiant Gun Runner will be back to win another day! He certainly didn’t give up yesterday, bless him.
He is a beauty, and you can bet we will be cheering him on!
Dear Peggy,
Gun Runner was pulling away from the field at the end of the race right behind Arrogate. He wouldn’t have beat Arrogate, but was adding space between himself & the rest of the other horses. Good job on 2nd Gun Runner!
Congratulations to Aggogate, and all his connections!
Hi Zenny
Your Mike Smith said that he rode Aggogate like he rode you. A come from behind victory. Your name Zenny, was said several times today over in Dubai.
What a fantastic horse Aggogate is. Bob Baffert said that the racing public knows him, but it’s too bad Aggogate never had the chance to capture the hearts and minds of the general public. He is now the richest Thoroughbred in the world.
Very well said! Arrogate ran an unbelievable race — reminds me of another beautiful TB.
It made me smile when Mike said the position after the break was like racing on Zenyatta.
He sure covered the ground with that tremendous stride!
Congratulations to Arrogate, Mike, BB and all connections! WOW!!
Zenyatta you were right there with Mike when he was riding Arrogate. Wonderful compliment to you. It was an amazing race . Happy for Gun Runner too. They alll were beautiful and came home safe. Now you relax and we look forward to your soon to be born foal. Have a beautiful day.
Here’s the replay of ARROGREAT and Mikey’s DWC win. This horse is AMAZING!!!!!. What a super ride by Mikey. He said he can start and stop him at will and oh boy, did he prove that today. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
All I can say is WOW!!! Congratulations, Arrogate and Mikey. That was FABULOUS. No greater thrill than seeing the horse who was dead last pass everyone and win! Thank you for posting!
Congratulations to Mind Your Biscuits and Joel Rosario on winning the Dubai Golden Shaheen today. Beautiful little Chestnut boy came through from post position 14. He’s a New York bred son of Posse. Here’s the replay. Love and Hugs, JB
This beautiful Chestnut has started 15 times since 2015 at eight different race tracks. His record is 5-6-2. Love this boy. He was born same year as our ZI. Love and Hugs, JB

He’s got DM on both side sides! What a great win that this was too.
I love Mind Your Biscuits! He is certainly a beautiful member of the Chestnut Club, too.
Joel Rosario is a masterful jockey. Congratulations to Biscuits and all connections!
As Mikey stated, when he had a bad break at the start, he just thought to settle in and then run Arrogate like he ran Zenyatta! Mikey had such a grin on his face when he said that. Cute.
Arrogate sure proved he is the top horse to beat. He must have those special lungs they talk about!
Congratulations to him and all his connections.
hugs to all, Sally B
p.s. I thought Gun Runner did an awesome job but not good enough for the likes of Arrogate.
The race with Arrogate at Dubai reminded me of Zenyatta’s races, always last out of the gate! But if anyone could have guided him to a win I knew it would be Mike Smith.
What a tribute to Zenyatta to be mentioned over and over again in the worlds richest race.
Zenyatta continues to remain in the forefront of racing, long after she has retired.
She is loved by many without a doubt.
Zenyatta certainly set the standard for closers. She is in a class alone. No horse comes near her for charisma and good looks.
Dubai however is not the richest race. The US Pegasus is the number 1 race. Arrogate already took that too.
I live in what’s known as the “Oregon Outback” and for the first time I was able to actually see 3 of the races in Dubai as they actually happened instead of having to wait for a replay. Yay!! I’m one of those who was glad to see Gun Runner do as well as he did, but it was a bit like seeing Zenyatta race again and I loved the fact that Mike mentioned her several times. Now for everyone to come home safely and get some well deserved time off. Looking forward to later this year to see some of them race again. Speaking of which, here’s hoping Ziconic runs again fairly soon and that Coz gets a chance to get his hooves in the game too.
For those of us that live in SoCal Arrogate is a household name. I can’t get over how surprised people are that he won, especially with big money Mike aboard. Kudos to the 2nd and 3rd place. All from U.S. Mike really kept his composure, things could have gone south really fast. Linda.
Baffert was one of those who was surprised. He was sure that A had lost at the beginning of the race and blamed himself for bringing the horse to Dubai. Very happy to be proven wrong.
Here’s a really good article on Arrogate and Mikey’s win today with comments from BB (some really gushing words coming from the trainer of the great American Pharoah) and beautiful photo and replay video. Starting to believe Arrogate has a heart the size of Secretariat’s and lungs like American Pharoah. Enjoy! Love and Hugs, JB
Thanks for the link to this Paulick Report article on Arrogate and Mike’s win of the Dubai World Cup and Bob Baffert’s comments.
Very nice!
Hugs and Love
Donna Z
Dear Judy,
I agree with your comment about Arrogate’s heart & lung size. I thought the same thing when Mike said after the race that Big A could have gone farther. Who knows how much he would have won by if he broke better & was not squeezed back by the horses on both sides of him.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Marshall and Donna:
Just praying he stays healthy and sound. Would love to see him race at Saratoga again this year (maybe the Grade I Whitney), not to mention the BCC.
BTW this was his 7th straight win out of 8 starts. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. He might show up at Saratoga. Baffert says that Arro will get a rest and aim toward another win in the BCC. Winning the BCC is important to the owner. My guess is that Arro will do his resting at Juddmonte in Lexington. Nice there.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Well deserved rest for Big A. Maybe another place for us to check out for retirement! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JB. Not a bad idea. Juddmonte keeps those horses in style. I think that you mentioned this already, that Arro has Deputy Minister and Danzig on his distaff. One of these days those genes are going to show up if they have not already. I read that Arro was hard to train at first and Baffert had to send him back to the farm for a while to grow up a little longer. Clearly, he’s got it all together now.
Judy Berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I read that too. Yes, he sure seems to know the game now!
He has such a unique blaze and Steel Gray color coat. Will most likely lighten with age. Just a beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB
Arrogate is magnificent!! What a display of heart & class!!! What a great ride by Zenyatta’s jockey Mike Smith!!!! Congratulations to the connections and trainer!!!!!
As lovers of horses and racing we witnessed one of the most incredible races in Dubai today. Arrogate has taken the game to a new level. Last year Chrome was breathtaking winning the Cup. But today for the first time since watching the great Zenyatta I saw greatness. This magnificent animal showed the grit and awesome stride that only champions come by naturally. Our greatest racehorses continually impress us with how they find a way to win. Arrogate is truly exceptional in that respect. The American contingent was indicative of our great breeding programs and congratulations to them all. We have been blessed with American Pharoah, California Chrome, and now Arrogate. I hope it just keeps on going so I can sit back and enjoy the sport I love most!!
BGG Note: Steve Haskin on Arrogate’s win in Dubai World Cup
I Thought I had Seen it All
Steve Haskin Hangin’ With Haskin The Blood-Horse 25 March, 2017
Sometimes in Thoroughbred racing we have a tendency to spew out superlatives in the immediate aftermath of a spectacular performance. We start comparing the winner to the greats of the past, and then, like always, time has a way of tempering our spontaneous hyperbole and jolting us back to reality.
So, following Arrogate’s mind-boggling performance in the Dubai World Cup, I wisely decided to wait for the goose bumps to subside and my hands to stop trembling before letting my fingers go anywhere near a computer keyboard. My brain was filled with so many awe inspiring and impassioned words and descriptions of what I had just seen it left my thought pattern in total disarray. http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/horse-racing-steve-haskin/archive/2017/03/25/i-thought-i-had-seen-it-all.aspx
Nobody does it better than SH. I think he captured what everyone feels watching Arrogate win the DWC. Thanks for sharing this great article. Love and Hugs, JB
What a fantastic win by Arrogate and Mikey! Hope all the horses came out of their races well and have safe trips home.
Wanted to ask, if you find a video replay of DC’s race tomorrow, could you try posting it here. Would like very much to see it. Thanks and goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

I agree with your comment about Arrogate’s heart & lung size. I thought the same thing when Mike said after the race that Big A could have gone farther. Who knows how much he would have won by if he broke better & was not squeezed back by the horses on both sides of him.

Nice there.

Dear Max:
I read that too. Yes, he sure seems to know the game now!
He has such a unique blaze and Steel Gray color coat. Will most likely lighten with age. Just a beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena:
What a fantastic win by Arrogate and Mikey! Hope all the horses came out of their races well and have safe trips home.
Wanted to ask, if you find a video replay of DC’s race tomorrow, could you try posting it here. Would like very much to see it. Thanks and goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
