Some Sad News

Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm, January 2021. Photo by Todd Claunch.

We at Team Zenyatta and Lane’s End Farm are deeply saddened to share that Zenyatta lost her 2021 foal early this year.

She had been carrying a second Candy Ride filly, and we grieve the loss of this precious life. Thankfully, Zenyatta remains in excellent health and is doing very well.

So sorry to hear that Zenyatta has lost this foal. I know how she loves being a mom and it is heartbreaking that this has happened. It is a comfort to all who love her that she is healthy. I appreciate the loving care that Lane’s End and Z Team provide and grieve with you and all who love her. I take comfort that decisions are made with her health and happiness as priorities.

I am so sad to hear this news. I feel so bad for Zenyatta and Ann. Zenyatta is ok so that’s the most important thing. I know Ann will do what is best for Zenyatta as far as breeding her again.

Thank you for letting us know what has happened.

I hope Zenyatta will be able to heal mentally and physically from this sad event.

I am deeply saddened by the news, but happy Zenyatta is doing well. She is so important to her family and caretakers not to mention her loyal and adoring fans. My wish is for her to stay happy and healthy and maybe not have to continue to be bred. Zenyatta gave her best to her owners and fans and maybe it is time for her to be loved and cared for as a very special once in a lifetime horse that gave everyone her ALL. I know that everyone involved with her care will have her best interest at heart to ensure she stays happy and healthy. Hugs to Zenyatta❤️

Dear Zenyatta and all those that love and take care of you, and especially Ann, I was very saddened to hear that you lost your baby. You are so priceless and any baby of yours is too. God bless you. God always has a reason though it is devastating to many.

My deepest sympathy to Zenyatta’s connections, including Lane’s End. It is heartbreaking to all concerned. It is good to hear that she is doing well. Ann and Jerry Moss have always had nothing but the best in mind for the Queen from the very beginning. I remember an interview Jerry Moss gave before her first race. When asked how he felt about her chances, he said that he just wanted her to have a safe trip “because we just love her so much.” This was said even before she went on to become a superstar. There is no doubt they will continue to do what’s best for her, she is and will remain their beloved Zenyatta.

Dear Zenyatta, Team Z and Lane’s End,
This is such devastating news — so sad. My heart goes out to all of you. We certainly don’t understand why, but we continue to love and hope.
Sharing in your loss and sending you much love, especially to Z and Ann. ?
The silver lining is that sweet Z is in good health, and for that we are exceedingly grateful. Bless you all.

I feel her loss! Most animals especially horses feel empty and grieve for months. It’s difficult to help them because they keep the feeling away from humans hopefully she has a stable mate and that mate will help her through.

    Hi all,
Just wanted to spread a smile or two at the end of this sad week. Despite the title of his diary entry, Hovis has given us mostly good news (I think – again, some of the references elude me – but . . . well you’ll see). Hope everyone is staying well and warm as we come to the end of January (yay!!!!).

      Dear Sandy,
Thanks for our weekly visit from Hovis! It seems someone is always devising a new way to make our hero look bizarre, doesn’t it? Poor Hovis — he is long-suffering and very patient with his team of humans!
Glad to hear that his foot is improving and hope it will totally heal this time.
      Stay well and safe everyone!
