Happy Monday!
We thought we’d share some photos of spring’s special moments. The Mosses celebrated Mother’s Day with an incredibly sweet cake representing Zenyatta and her filly. The Easter filly, who now has a special foal tag inscribed with her nickname “Z Princess,” was recently reacquainted with her Easter Bunny and other birthday spoils. Alys sent us these photos.
Enjoy!

Hi!
Love the photos especially the cake. The photo with both of them in the stall is really cute.
No videos?
Why not?
Would love to see Zenyatta and Z princess eating, walking and running around the field with each other.
How is Coz doing in his training? More videos of him training?
Would love to see them.
It is actually fun to watch them as foals, growing up, being trained, racing, retiring and seeing new babies. This becomes the “full” story about them.
Love it.
Thank you!

Dear Kathy.Wise words.Poor Fubu wasn’t too good after his visit to the vet,had to have a blood test,at least his weight is stable and he enjoyed his visit to Petco they all love him there.I saw the videos on My Miss Kitty she’s a very similar colour to my Katie but more fluffy, the hamster looked so cute.I loved Marty licking his mum’s finger last night because he lubs her!Gosh he had a busy day with his internashunal bizness.Miss Ellie Beans mum had a sad last night difficult times for them lots of leaky eyes.
Blue 24 is certainly hanging around the nest,is a pity she can’t find a partner and settle somewhere else on the Dyfi.I found a cat called Dolly the Diva she lives in Tripoli lot of unrest there they get power cuts and the temps are going to be over 100F this week her Mommy is afraid of the carbombs. She is a beautiful white Persian.I thought it was peaceful there now.Have a lovely day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Poor Fubu. I hope his test results are okay. I can understand why he has so many fans at Petco. He’s such a good boy! My Miss Kitty is gorgeous as was your Katie, I’m sure. Loved the hamster, GREAT little sweater. Marty sure looked cute in that Bizness tie. So sorry to learn of Miss Ellie Bean’s mum’s sadness. I’m sure Ellie Beans does all she can to cheer her up. No one is more in tune with our mood than our beloved pets. They are such a comfort. Blue 24 settling elsewhere on the Dyfi would be a huge plus. Will keep my fingers crossed that happens. Dolly the Diva is just gorgeous. One can’t imagine what it would be like to live in a place with fighting and bombs exploding nearby. Hopefully they stay safe. Have a good day today. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

I haven’t heard or read much criticism of Tom Amoss for running Ria Antonia in the Preakness, which surprises me. By all accounts, the reason she ended up in the Amoss barn was because Bob Baffert did not want to run her. The owner, apparently miffed at this, went trainer shopping and found one who would. I cannot really fault Amoss for following the wishes of the owner but I can fault the owner.
Debbie
Owners should not be allowed to look at Condition Books. Owners are supposed to trust their Trainer that he is doing what is right for the horse. She had no business running in the Preakness. It just makes the trainer look bad.
Terry Crow
Some very good points being made in this post.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
Absolutely. I hope she is sold and someone who is kind and has common sense to do what’s best for her buys her. Love and Hugs, JB
Terry Crow
Judy-Agree. I just hope she has not been ruined as a race horse. We need more race horses and less stallions and brood mares.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
You are so right. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
Hope her spirit has not been broken.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I agree totally, Terry. We discussed it at the time here at home. We said that we thought it was the owner and trainer’s job to plan races so that their horses have a chance of being successful. We need to keep an eye out for this girl, I suspect. I’m adding her to my virtual stable. On tv, the trainer said he would agree to run her if she passed all his tests, which she did. There should be tests for owners.
Terry Crow
Barbara-Agree. This owner does not pass the smell test.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Terry C.,
I wholeheartedly agree! She deserves so much better, and I hope she will get a much more sensible and caring owner. Hugs
Cheryl K. from Webster, NY
As a trainer, I think you would have to outright tell the owner that
a horse is not fit enough, needs rest, or inappropriate class to
run a race. Use facts and figures to make your point, that’s
your obligation to the horse and the owner; especially the horse.
Who else is going to speak on behalf of Ria Antonia’s. Why didn’t
he say tell the owner that she was being put a risk and would risk
endangering other horses in the race, like General A Rod. It could
have been a terrible tragedy during the Preakness in the midst of
CC’s victory. I don’t think much of Amoss!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Cheryl:
In the case of Ria Antonia, from what I read I got the definite impression that it was the owner who was hell bent on running her in the Preakness. I don’t know for sure, of course, but that was what I got from the article I read. Here it is. I get the feeling that no trainer was going to be able to talk him out of it. Love and Hugs, JB

Terry Crow
Cheryl-Glad you weighed in on this. When the owner is determined to run his or her horse in a certain spot, there is nothing much the trainer can do. However, I agree with you. Ethics should mean something in this game. I am sure that Amoss has been gritting his teeth waiting for the criticism that I have not yet seen. That’s the part that surprises me. Somebody sure deserves some. The only guy that comes out of this looking good is Bob Baffert. Just as an after thought–How much money was bet on Rio Antonia?
Ann NC
Thanks, Judy B.
Ron ain’t no, Joe Namath.
Terry Crow
Judy-I had not seen this article before. I believe that you can get an understanding of what was involved here by reading it. You had an owner that was determined to show the world. Well, the world saw it and is not happy. The point about the Black Eyed Susan Stake is well taken. I would love to be able to talk to Bob Baffert about this off the record.

Well said, Terry.

Thank you for this. Danny is absolutely incredible. He looks great. He looks like he could run a mile now. He probably only lost weight because they cut down on his eats. The next news flash may be that he has grown back vital parts and is no longer a gelding. Nothing is impossible with this guy.

When the news first got out that Wise Dan had colic it was extremely depressing. Seeing him appearing to be so healthy is almost surreal. Horse racing fans in general should be very pleased. It is also obvious that the young woman who has his lead in this video is in love. Thanks for posting,
Max
TC. The lady with the lead is Amy LoPresti, Charlie’s wife.
Agree with you. I was very depressed at the news of Dan’s illness. He is a vital part of racing. It would not be the same without him.
Also agree with your other comments that we need more racers and fewer brood mares and stallions. It’s tiring for example to hear that Ebby should be retired to be a brood mare before she has had much of a chance to race. Park that kind of advice and leave it all to John Shirrefffs. He will know what is best for her.

Sheena. Going to France after so brief a rest might be a challenge. Old Cirrus is also a very tough customer. Have to watch that one.
Was reading that Magician is racing against Mission at the Curraugh. Sure would like to see Mission win. Cecil et al would not be sending him there unless he had a chance.
Read today that Frankel is assessed at a worth of £100 million. Believe it.

Sheena. Don’t forget that Frankel still has his winnings from his racing days. For sure, he has no financial worries even if he did not have his lucrative stud career. His owner can keep him in style. That farm is very far away from shabby. It’s beautiful.
The competition is certainly fierce against Mission, but if he channels Galileo and his brothers, he will do it. He also has that black hood going for him.
Cannot believe that Dan was in surgery less than a week ago. If this continues, that return to racing at Saratoga might work. The other older Dan could try the Stephen Foster in June.

These pictures made my day! Princess Z is beyond precious. It’s so cool that her tag reads Princess Z instead of Z14. What a little cutie pie! And of course her mom is just as beautiful and perfect as ever. Thanks for the great pics, Lanes End and Team Z!
Terry and Barbara, I totally agree with you about Ria Antonia. Considering that she finished last, I’d say there was a good reason why Baffert didn’t want her to run in the Preakness. I just hope she’s not ruined as a race horse.

Are You Tired? Me, Too.
Are you tired? Yeah, me, too.
Lately, it’s to my core.
I know you and I are dealing with different things that exhaust us. Whether it’s late-night feedings, wrapping up an important project for work or even a fun night out with a close friend, it still makes us tired.
Tired is NOT an excuse to…
be grouchy, show up late, argue with the ones you love, give up, say everything you’re feeling, have a pity party, eat what ever you want, compare your life with hers, or begin to believe Jesus isn’t near.
Tired IS an opportunity.
We can come to The Lord {the One who never tires} and He will give us rest. Our souls will find rest in God alone. And our bodies will follow. He will give us strength since we are weak {and tired}. Others will be astounded by our joy-filled energy in our time of need because God is our strength. We have the opportunity to draw close to God in our time of need. For the One Who Loves Us to blow new life into our weariness. Just like He has promised, Jesus will refresh our hearts.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Dear Zenyatta family:
Prayers please – have just heard on Skysportsradio that we have lost one of nature’s gentlemen, a top trainer and really decent bloke in trainer Guy Walter who died of a heart attack after track work this morning at Warwick Farm aged 59. I’ve met and talked with Guy many times at the track, and know and talk with his strappers so feel totally shocked at his passing. Guy also trained for Darley, and his great mares Appearance and Streama have done him proud. He was a horseman through and through, and I’m sure all those that have passed over the Rainbow Bridge will welcome him with love. But for now, the Australian racing community is feeling his loss keenly. Hugs, KathyR

Today at lunch I was in our break room at lunch watching CNN. They were talking about the Controversy of The “Happy” Song by Pharrell Williams. I thought gosh where have I been. Dear Z’sters,
Please say a prayer for my Reilly. I took him to a veterinary emergency hospital at 2:30 AM. He was very uncomfortable and having some trouble breathing. The next phase of his heart condition is beginning. There is some pulmonary edema and they are giving him oxygen and Lasix (to remove the fluid). I was afraid that he would be struggling to breathe so I took him to the 24hour emergency clinic. The cardiologist said that he was improving today, but should stay overnight tonight. As long as he is interested in life, food and walks (and is happy), we will continue with the heart medicine and Lasix. He will “tell” me when it is time. This is all about him, not me — oh, how I adore this gentle soul! Huey is a bit lonesome, but he will be happy to see his adopted brother when he comes home.
Take care, everybody! Bless you all! Hugs

May 22 Cherokee Devotional
The past is to be respected for its rich store of experience-mistakes and all-believes the Cherokee. In it are all the trials and wisdom of our elders, the timeless suffering and seasoning that came to us with a brave front. But we, with less experience and far less wisdom, question why they did certain things. We have only to look at our own recent history to know that many circumstances come in to dictate some of what happened. We do not relate it to our offspring word for word-why we did something, wise or unwise. It is better they take what we have learned and build on it. The young have a tendency to see themselves far more shrewd and able than their elders. But one day, they too will see and understand the patterns that have been laid down. They will forgive and hope to be forgiven for not being miracle workers. The fact that we are here with a load of experience and wisdom behind us speaks positively of the past.
Grandfather, Great Spirit, you have given me the cup of living water, the sacred bow, the power to make life and to destroy it.
